Kaep was made the poster boy by Fox news and redneck America. It didn't matter how many other people took a knee it was all his fault. It doesn't matter what else he has done with his life, he was the first to take a knee.
He is Tommie Smith and John Carlos.
Just a different sport. History repeats itself. Punishing nonviolent protestors is a neo-nazi tradition.
He should've stood up straight, shoulders back, spoke boldly on the issues that concerned him, during interviews and media events, before and after games and practices. More like Ali, Jim Brown, Arthur Ashe or even Jack Johnson, all of whom history remembers at the very least as articulate. All of them earned their influence with exceptional performances, but more importantly during a relative period that brought out their courage as an agent of change. A time that we are beyond in 2018.
If CK could do it over, the first and foremost should have his own house in order and performed like championship quarterback, won a super bowl. Had his own house been in order, he'd still be playing. He overestimated his value and created of movement that can't be taken seriously in the deeper sense because he is the entitled 1% and the days of the white oppression are long past. Be my guest, hang on to folksy fiction ideology for dear life, Make America Miserable Again. Good luck.
Big picture, he wasn't a good enough player, that impacted the outcome of games in a way that withstands criticism, and didn't communicate his goals. I see him as a whiny little spoiled rich kid, with a hollow reductionist fairy tale trying to simplify a problem that plagues all nations, which is stupidity.
If he really wanted to suffer for his cause, he'd have quit the game and refused to play professional football in a oppressive nation that is killing people because of the color of their skin. Instead, he exhibited human infantilism that is rampant with overpaid self-righteous professional athletes.
It's my guess, he dropped his contact lenses on the sideline and accidentally knelt during the NA and some dumb ass liberal San Fran media made up a narrative and he went along for the ride because all the attention was now centered on him.
