How much recruiting is going on in STL

Back in the 30's 40's and 50's there was a little old company called Gillioz construction in Monett. I heard the owner even built some big theater in Springfield with his name on it. Anyways the man that owned the company loved his Monett Cubs. Word was if you applied for a job there you had better get the first question right. And that question was "do you have any sons" if the answer was incorrect they were not hiring.

Monett had some of the best teams the state has ever seen back in those years.

You guys just plain freaking nuts if you think a coach has the ability and authority to go up to a kid and say we will give you free tuition if you come to our school. NO administration has given any coach that authority to do that. And second, there would have to be many kids out there who turned down the offer who hate private schools who would love nothing more than to turn such a coach and school into MSHSAA. Because that would be a direct violation of state rules.

I know for a fact from another school that Mr. Patterson interviewed at from a Administratior I know there wanted control of who he could give Financial Aid/Scholarships to. That school passed on him.

There is no conspiracy. I think MSHSAA is just slow to acknowledge and respond to the situation and has limited viable options. I think the situation has grown over the last 2 decades especially in the metro areas where private schools have grown and focused on sports at an extremely high level. And honestly I question if Missouri is large enough to have a private division as much as I want to see one.

People get bent out of shape over what happened to Joplin because there is a HUGE difference between enrollment of 2400 mandated from a designated area of less than 50,000 and SELECTING the 2400 you want from a greater area of +2.5million and sometimes beyond.

Yup obviously it helps. And gives a large advantage. I guess people see what they want to see.

I think they have been slow to adapt to the new era we are in today. I think in the beginning the multiplier was working somewhat. But now in the age of social media and well just how crappy the citizens of St Louis have let their public schools become, you are seeing private schools have a new advantage and it needs to be addressed.

Name the school.

AAA Conference

Not naming the school. I'm not an idiot. My friend could get fired for discussing personal matters.

Of course he could. Cause naming the school will tell us exactly who told you. Dont believe you one bit. But it the meantime it proves my point. No administration would allow it. And I know the people at Trinity and nothing like this happened

There are 90 municipalities in a 25 mile radius of The City of STL. I know it’s fun for rural fans to hate on all things STL (until it’s baseball or hockey season) but the Sun doesn’t rise and set on the emotions of people in SWMO. MSHSAA is an impotent organization but the truth is that there aren’t enough public high school administrators with the balls to try and change things. Crying about how unfair life is, instead of getting off a message board and taking your hurt butt to school district meetings won’t change things. Don’t get me wrong ... I LOVE to watch you bitch. I’m just saying you should actually DO something about it instead of blaming “the powers that be”.

Sir if you don't know that school boards or private school equivalent can only discuss hiring/firing and other personal matters in executive session you sir don't know what your talking about.

Exactly and most of those have some of the worse educational school districts in the state. If those citizens would start to hold their own public school boards accountable for how crappy those schools have become education wise I don't think private schools would be such a issue, because more parents would chose to stay in public schools.

We don't have that option down here so we hold our schools accountable for the education our public school gives our kids, because again we don't have an easy button like you lazy people in the Loui do.

So why don't you get off your butt and actually do something and fix your crappy public schools instead of taking the easy route to private? I'm just saying you should actually do something about fixing your schools....

9 of the Top 10 Public HS in Missouri are in STL ... 15 of the Top 20 and 22 of the Top 30. All of the Top 30 that aren’t in STL, are in KC. None in SWMO. 2 of the Top 10 are STL City schools.

People choose private schools because they have that choice. You don’t, so you can’t. You’re the one bitching about MSHSAA and the unfairness of the rules and I’m in no hurry for you to stop. I get GREAT pleasure in getting you worked up.

Hey do you notice what STL schools were at the top? Those that are top public educational schools also have strong sports programs... Yes I know I might have to slow down the bus but eventually even you might figure it out.

Let's see Ladue is still playing. Eureka was pretty good. Kirkwood, Lindbergh yes.

Try looking at it from our rural point of view. 2 people sit down to play cards. 1 person gets to see their cards and pick cards from 4 decks to make a hand. The other person gets dealt 5 cards and has to play those only . Can we guess which player you are ?

It’s ABSOLUTELY unfair ... but those are the rules. It’s one thing to complain about the rules, but it’s an entirely different things to cry about schools following the rules as they’re written and enforced. I don’t see many people coming for MSHSAA OR the rural majority of high school administrators that made the rules AND keep them this way. If either group agreed with you OR have a crap about how you felt, they’d change the rules. Sad but true.

So your argument is deal with it? Literally everyone here you have insulted and called whiners has suggested solutions. Come on... you are all over the place.

I don't think alot felt this was as big an issue 10 years ago and kept the status quo. Private versus public never bothered me in the past, I actually use to argue the other way that we need to keep Private and public together. But now I see the tide changing, not bitching just stating my opinion.

Yeah, it’s nice having stellar academics AND strong athletic programs. Which rural high school are you so fond of? I can pull up their national and state rankings and their test scores. We can compare them to the STL City schools and we can see how they stack up.

Yes but yet you send your kids to a private school? So if you could send your kid to one of these public high schools for free why spend the money for private. Is Trinity ranked or under another name I am just curious as to how they stack up against those other schools?

We all know a lot of these boys in private schools are not making the grades. Lol They are there for football. Not all of them. But most.

Maybe in your life just bitching online gets things done for you? I’ve said it multiple times today alone but comprehension hasn’t been proven to be your strong suit.

Get your crying asses off the message board, go to your school administrators and tell them they need to go to MSHSAA and change the rules.

You don’t REALLY think bitching online isn’t going to do anything, do you? I’m enjoying watching you do it, but I figured I’d give you a nudge ... mostly to see if you’d actually do something other than whine.

Heck no it didn't happen. The former president at Trinity (when Patterson was hired) was not that kind of person at all and she didn't play those kind of games.

You are such a clown lol Crying? This is conversation. Quit projecting your own emotions.

I’m all for separate divisions and championships. I even recognize it isn’t a level field. You should ask yourselves why rural administrators aren’t pushing for it more.

People spend their money how they choose too. You should Google Trinity’s test scores and such and post them here next to YOUR area school. It’d be interesting to see how they compare.

I have several family members who are on the administrator level at several public schools and they say this is getting more of their attention each year. So like I said the tide is changing. It might be a few more years but I think you will start to see some discussions. They knew there was some growing concern and now that is is starting to unfold.

I welcome you to come to St. Louis and personally visit all of the high schools that surround Trinity and LN. If you do that and tell me you would still put your children in those schools, then you are a liar.

I was in a multi-purpose building at John Burroughs earlier this year. They have a board up listing all of their team state championships in every sport. I counted 47 state championship teams on the board.

Watching the 5 oclock news tonight I heard CBC beat Desmet for the soccer state championship. It is their tenth. Check out a list of girls basketball champions or tennis.
Its a joke. Its why I just dont think the post season is that big of a deal any more.

I’m fine with the rules the way they are. They’re stacked to benefit private schools, and that sucks for you. I legitimately am enjoying TF out of every comment you make and every thumbs up you give when you or someone else bitches about the unfairness of it all. The fact that you tried to argue when I suggested you ACTUALLY do something about it, explains more than your bitching does.

You’d rather cry than change things. You LOVE to complain more than you’d love to have separate divisions or anything else. It’d be sad ... if it wasn’t SO f’ing hilarious.

Yeah JB defeated our boys soccer team in the semis this year. We lost to them 3 years ago in the finals.

That’s great. Maybe in another decade or two they’ll actually care enough to discuss it? Maybe even vote? Wow.

Look up Vashon who competes for state titles basketball consistently. Public school in the hood has D1 caliber talent year in and year out.

That’s the PUBLIC school rankings, genius. Try Googling PRIVATE schools in Missouri. C’mon, man. Damn.

Well crap anybody can make unfounded claims....So basically they are not a top school is what you are telling me.
