This discussion was started on another thread but deserves one of its own....

I may be in the minority but I love to see contrasting styles of basketball and hope that the shot clock stays out of HSBB.
Many teams arent good enough to keep the ball for much longer that a clock violation anyway without turning it over. And, if they are, and you want to speed it up, take it away from them and force the tempo.
There is no need to add the extra expense of adding a shot clock to some already tight budgets. I could care less what the NBA does, and just because college does it, does not mean HS needs to.... you dont seem to be asking to play halves instead of quarters......

I could take it or leave it in HS. It wouldn't need to be 30, maybe 45 like college started with a long time ago. Not many teams have possessions that long these days anyway. Doesn't matter it has never even come close to passing when the coaches vote so I will defer to the folks that have to deal with it.
They play quarters in women's college ball now, I keep hearing the men will switch too but it hasn't happened yet so who knows.

Schools have a hard enough time finding people to run the clock and do the book. Finding another person that knows how to run a shot clock will be next to impossible, not to mention the added expense.
I would think a lot of schools have people at the table that volunteer their services. I know at least some at P.B. over the years have been volunteers.

I am in favor of a shot clock, 40 or 45 seconds. Wouldn't change much in most games except the last few minutes. Would increase strategy and coaching rather than decrease it. Tired of hearing the excuse of expense and no qualified personnel. Shot clock is easier to operate than regular clock. Only place in the world basketball is played without a shot clock is school basketball most of the United States.

Any game where neither team gets to 30 points should offer refunds to the paying spectators for having to watch that boring ass bad basketball.

I have broadcast HS games for nearly 30 years, not sure I have ever done a game where neither team got to 30, even when one held the ball... so I dont think that would be much of an issue.
People want college ball to be like the NBA and want HS to be like college... there is no need, in my opinion. Like I said above, if you dont like the other team holding the ball.... Take it away.

So you score 30 points? You have 32 minutes in a game. Break that down to half because the other team has possession of the ball, so know you have the ball for 16 minutes. You score 2 points every :45 if you shoot 100% from the floor! Why need a shot clock?

You can't count on there always being volunteers in a smaller community, and sometimes you would be better off with a trained monkey than some volunteers you get.

There is enough problems with the regular clock and when start and to stop it. If anything, I think HS should go to stopping the clock the last minute of the game when the ball goes through the net. That would save a lot of headaches with clock management and help the officials.

When Marquand is playing Leopold...with all due respect to both......that is all they need is to have to also have a shot clock.

And no...shot clocks don't increase strategy...it takes away.

And, why not let a team play different styles. They can't recruit like colleges.
