In the draft opinion, Alito writes that Roe "must be overruled."
"The Constitution makes no reference to abortion and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision," Alito wrote. He said that Roe was "egregiously wrong from the start" and that its reasoning was "exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences."
He added, "It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's representatives."

Thank God for Donald Trump

The 2022 Dem dream has arrived. Nice work energizing all the disillusioned females who probably wouldn’t have even voted in the mid-term.

How in the world did this get released? This is not a good look for the court, or for the future of the court.
I hope you are ready to start paying for the social safety net expenses that are coming. The foster system is going to explode.

Joe Scarborough asking if precedent doesn't matter on Roe v. Wade, then does the number of justices on the court matter?

precedent does matter, when a decision was obviously in error there is precedent to reverse it.

The Supreme court has reversed itself 233 times over its history, so people should not be acting like its something that never happens

Those red states are already the highest welfare takers in the US. It's going to get worse now.

Red states should be careful or maybe the welfare system becomes a state issue as well. Good luck paying for that from methville!

At the risk of breaking up this love fest we've been having the last few posts, I think thriving companies that actually make stuff need hard-working people willing to work lines and trades. You'll find plenty of those in red states. Meanwhile in blue states the more "educated" are busy planning their choice protests and how to wriggle free of 50k in student loans they stupidly took out to get a gender studies degree.

In those large cities where nearly all manufacturing is located, and where, perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not, they tend to vote heavily blue, who exactly do you think is working in the factories?

I say we let every woman in America vote on whether they want Roe v Wade or not. Men will just have to live with the result. No more whining and crying. Once the country’s women decide, it’s over. No more time, money or energy will be wasted on this issue. It’s unproductive

Talk about legislating from the bench..!

We have at least 3 and probably 4 SC Justices that flat out lied when questioned about this issue during their confirmation hearings. No arguments and no BS, it's on tape for all to see.

That doesn't matter. Scores of justices have "evolved" leftward not the least of which was Harry Blackmun, who wrote the majority opinion for Roe, yet had been nominated by Eisenhower and until later in his career, was considered a solid conservative. Anthony Kennedy and John Roberts are more recent examples. You can't have it both ways.
Give specific examples of left leaning judges flat out lying during their hearings or stop with the both sides BS.

I have no problem with the child support....when paternity can be established, no problem with citizenship (those in our country for X amount of years because of our lax border control need to be granted citizenship and both sides are playing with this), and if an insurance company wants to insure the unborn then great. I'm all in with what this person is saying.

First, whoever leaked this needs to be prosecuted to the fullest. I'm guessing it's someone in opposition, trying to stir up the public and media in hopes of stopping this decision.
Second, I'm baffled at how the reversal of this is being opposed. This is plain and simple, murder. The technology to evaluate whether a "fetus" is a baby had significantly advanced since Rove vs Wade. No viable medical personal today will support that the fetus is not a human being with a full life ahead of it. Our society would not stand for the elimination of any age of it's citizens. How do we allow the murder of an entire demographic? In medieval days people sacrificed their babies to gain success, prosperity and comfort. We look at that as barbaric but yet we accept it today with the exact same reasons. One argument is that it puts a load on a mother that already has other children. Then get rid of one of the other children. This would cause a societal uproar and send this mother to prison, as it should. This is not a political issue or a religious issue, it is a moral issue. Government is: to establish laws, maintain order and provide security, protect citizens from internal and external threats, and promote the general welfare by providing public services. Allowing a person that cannot speak for themselves to be murdered goes directly against what government is set up to do. Anyone who argues to maintain the murdering of millions of people every year is just plain evil.

They said it was precedent,,,didn't say it had been decided correctly and they wouldn't vote to correct the error that had been made 50 years ago

Banning BC pills will be next.

In the USA the principal method of abortifacient birth control is “the Pill,” which first became widely used in the late 1960s and helped fuel the Sexual Revolution. It’s murder, right.

You're just mad when at long last you should accept this is how our Republic works and all this does is turn the whole thing over to "democracy" which your people go on about all the time. Sounds like a win-win for everyone but instead your side is plotting a true insurrection. Oh well. Let the games begin.
What insurrection? LOL You see people yelling about not liking your side and you snowflakes get scared.

there weren't any laws broken as far as I can tell.

Don't worry Toots we won't take away your birth control. Or your tampons. Chill.
I thought life started at conception???

On top of that,
The SC already decided that BC pills don’t have to be covered by health insurance due to religious beliefs of Hobby Lobby ownership. We all see where this is headed.

Women have the same rights to choose as women under Sharia law. Remember when we read over and over about how Obama was going to institute Sharia law?

It's not the 1950s anymore. A lot of that has moved out of country or to the Sun Belt. And most importantly, that kind of worker is done voting blue for the most part. You'll see in November.

Manufacturing jobs are certainly a much bigger slice of the rural jobs pie, but it really is nonsensical to make the claim that manufacturing isn't still mostly in the city. Total manufacturing jobs in the US is around 12 million. Around 3 million are in rural areas. You are quite correct about the general trend that those jobs are moving out of cities, though.

These guys were ready to shoot people over having to wear a mask to protect their neighbors but they think it’s perfectly fine to force a woman to carry around a fetus they don’t want.

A guy who was voted against by the majority of Americans in two straight presidential elections got to pick three SC justices who force their religious beliefs down our throat. Yea. That system doesn’t need reform, does it.

I don't see how ANY company should be forced to pay for birth control to start with

But what is a woman? 😂

They are deciding the law. Religion has nothing to do with it. Just wait until Trump gets to choose three more SC judges !!!! WIth the dumpster fire Biden is engineering a Trump-Scott ticket will be unbeatable in 2024

Religion has EVERYTHING to do with it.
Trump was given the names to choose from.
All of his choices had to have the same beliefs.

I would love to debate this with you on a Facebook live Toots. This argument of it being religiously driven is absurd (as are most of them here). It's too easy to throw it in the realm of being religion because it takes the moral implications out of it. Are murder laws, theft laws or animal abuse laws religious laws? No, they're moral and ethical laws to protect against intrusion or harm. How is removing a judgement that has literally been responsible for the murder of over 62 million babies not a moral issue? The Holocaust is viewed, and rightly so, as one of the worst modern atrocities and they killed around 6 million Jewish people. We have laws against destroying Bald Eagle eggs. Why? Because those eggs will become eagles. Those babies that are being torn apart inside a mother's womb will be air breathing people. And if you take their life after they're born you will go to prison. I am absolutely SMH at how this is even being debated or questioned. Show me any medical personnel that disagrees with the fact that left to a natural process that baby in the womb will continue to grow to a child. Most arguments center around the welfare of the woman having to care for a child. It's a dismissal argument attempting to eliminate personal responsibility. If you don't want a baby then get on birth control or keep your legs crossed. There's also a line waiting to adopt here in the US.

So if men don't have a say in whether a child is born or not....should men be able to decide if they want to support that child economically or not? I'd say Yes. Fair trade off. If women can abort a Child then Child support should be optional. And I never understood why if Women are as capable as men..why forced Child support is a thing anyhow.

A minor point I suppose, but not sure if you read "out of country" as out "to" the country. I literally meant shipped overseas of course. I'm spitballing but I bet we had double the manufacturing jobs here in the US back when our population was half the size it is now.

I did misread it. You are probably not far off.

Or, or, I know your sensitive triggers. Back to work sweetie.
You're the side that's mad that your lawbreakers are being held accountable. I remember when the GOP pretended to be the party of fiscal responsibility and law and order.

Bahah! I know right?
