I get why you would test people that know they have been exposed, that's not the same as retesting a gazillion people that got better to see if they still have it. You could keep doing that forever, when do you decide they're really better?
They are using the very hard to get tests multiple times on the same people?
They double check the test...why are you scoffing at that?
I will give you some Testing info. and this only applies to the County my GF works in, I'm not sure if their procedures apply to other Counties.
Some test are sent to state....it takes 6 hours for those results... Most of the test are being sent to Lab Corp. or Quest it takes 1-5 days for results then. Also before the test the Doctor is suppose to Rule at Flu first before they are sent to get tested.
They are working on getting a Machine to test in their Lab which would greatly speed things up, they test for a lot of stuff in house But C19 is not one of them. So if I said they did in a previous Post I was in error on that. Also some stuff even if they test and it's positive still has to be sent to state and verified and a procedure has to be followed. They test for a ton of stuff all he time, there is a lot of bad stuff out there.

Nope I just find it satisfying to throw some light on your weakness as a human.
While I see the value in gathering info from testing, I don't see the real personal value to being tested since there is no actual treatment for it. You can treat the symptoms whether tested or not.
He said some pretty dismissive things about it early on but he did not say it is nothing but the flu..,which kills thousands every year BTW.

You have no way to know anybody else would have done when given the same information as the sitting president.
Biden is on record criticizing trump travel ban from China when it happened. I have a pretty good idea and anyone else paying attention would as well.
This plus what Obama and Biden did during the Swine Flu situation assures there wouldn't be near the effort ongoing. I would prefer they were in charge now not because they were better responders but because they ignored it.
We banned travel from China and here we are. It was too late to be terribly meaningful. You know who else banned travel from China? Italy.

The ban has worked to a degree in area's where foreign travelers are infrequent, it has no effect on Urban area's but the ban with social distancing has helped rural area's and such, Italy banned way to late, they had positives running around since Mid Jan.Had a incredible spike in Pneumonia that wasn't recognized as C19 at that time. Florence and other area's had hug a Chinese policy to mitigate the So Called Racist China Virus view point, that was ignorant as heck. Italy botched this from the git go....add in their Older Population and how hap hazard the Social distancing is and it's been bad.
Couldn't build our supplies and testing capabilities do to the fact the CDC wanted to have control and oversight over our Kits. Also some chemicals are in short supply to make the kits....since the whole world wants them and that started before Jan. and Feb.
We should of planned for this in Oct, Nov and Dec.....
I think the ban was meaningful. It didn’t stop entirely but every day later that it would have been put in place could have hundreds if not thousands of possible exposures. If not put in place until later we likely would be closer to where Italy is right now.
At the end of the day though it has mostly just bought the US some time. Italy is rationing care. We aren’t there, at least yet. It is all over the heaviest populated area in the US now. How it is handled there will give us a preview of Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, etc

No one knew what this was in Oct or Nov, or really even in December. That's a question of long range planning, and I suspect there were systemic issues that existed here prior to Trump.
The CDC thing was part of the failure, yes, but it was a symptom of the bigger problem - they didn't take it nearly seriously enough. We dithered for too long. Trump needed to bring in someone competent like Gottlieb or Christie and tell them to lead pandemic prep around Jan 15.
That was my point...nobody knew about this quick enough or had enough data or facst to formulate a better plan. That is the issue with these things. Most actions are reactions.
You can look at Trumps timeline of actions in my Food For thought Post....You can see he did not dither for to long. But of course that doesn't fit the blame on Trump narrative.
Jan 7th CDC established a C19 management system 2 days prior to to China announcing the out Break.
Jan 21st CDC activated it's Emergency operations center to fight C19.
In a free society with people traveling over seas for frivolous reasons, and with us allowing in every tom,dick and Harry in this country for what ever. Containing this was nigh impossible.Add in any early and real actions that would of reduced the exposure even more would of been met with disapproval by the masses,even now many are not on board with the actions taken.... so with that said the Gov. is doing about as well as possible.
Oh, they absolutely did. South Korea tested and quarantined much faster than we did. And we had ample internal discussions in our government last year that we needed to get ventilators and other materials. It was one thing to ignore that playbook in October 2019. It was another to not start working on the medical supply chain on Jan. 20th or something like that.
Having discussions and being able to move forward on gov. contracts,bids and the red tape is a totally different animal. At that point all this was just a possibility, no different that the lack of prep,for earthquakes,wild fires, open boarders etc. that has gone on under every administration without proper actions. That is why the Federal gov. shouldn't be looked at as a savior or cure all.
If Trump would have sounded the alarm back then, he would have been an alarmist prepper germophobe and we likely wouldn't be blowing up the country today to show he was late to the party.
