CONGRATULATIONS PLATTE COUNTY PIRATES AND BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH JAGS

Second baseball title in four seasons blew out once beaten Vianney 14-4. Posting here because nobody, it seems, peruses the Baseball board.

Staley vs. Blue Springs South at 7 for the Class 6 title so KC is guaranteed the top two classes. OUTSTANDING.
had the opportunity to see tons of blue springs games last year including the run through the playoffs
great baseball played in this state

Their pitcher is a FR at Arkansas. The Razorbacks are what I call the KC metro all star team. Several players from KS side on that perennial top 5 program, too.

Someone needs to explain that to the little piece of work hired to coach baseball at Evangel. He was heard saying he thinks Colorado players are better than Missouri. Most websites on the topic of in-state ranked talent beg to differ. His record this last season, in which he kept pushing local players aside also confirms a lot. Coach Tyler Henry led the program to its first conference post-season the year before then was unceremoniously terminated by a letter from the president. In-state talent needs to avoid Evangel until things get righted.

Does anyone else find it peculiar how the baseball postseason works? Webb City might have been Class 5 champs if not for the first round after district play being a best of 3 series.

Webb beat Platte by a run in game 1 and would’ve moved on. Except Platte then beat Webb by a run in games 2 and 3 of the series.

Every other part of the baseball postseason is a single game, loser gets eliminated scenario.

What’s up with that? If you are for some reason going to have a best of 3 somewhere along the road, why wouldn’t it be between the final two teams for the championship?

Very odd…

It was a good idea that MSHSAA didn't take far enough in my opinion. The issue is baseball runs past the end of the school year as it is so doing this in the final four would really stretch things out. Perhaps shorten the regular season if a bit?

The coaches association has been wanting some form of DE for years and has always been turned down. When they added Class 6 they took away the sectional round from Class 5 and 6. So therefore a team needed to win only 1 game instead of 2 post district to make it to state.

So, to make up for that, they added a 2 of 3 scenario to Class 5 and 6 only. The rational being that now it returned to needing to win 2 games to get to state and (probably more importantly) MSHSAA didnt have to add any dates because the IF games would be a DH on Sat.

Classes 1-4 remained the same with a Sectional game between districts and Qtrs.

It is hard to say whether or not Webb would have won game 1 if that was the only game. Different pitching decisions may have been made.

On a side note, the Superintendent coach at CJ yanked his team's chances with the way he handled the pitching staff.
