Yeah why even play the playoffs????????

Because I want to hear about all the ways Joey will say that Kearney is a lock to win District 8. Then I will get to read all the excuses he gives afterwards. All joking aside, Class 4 is a four team race between Smithville, Kearney, Luthern North, and Hillsboro. I don't see any other teams having a legitimate shot. However, you never know and that is why you play the game.

It won't be Kearney JV next time. LOL

defense. Defense. DEFENSE. The one who plays that side the best in the playoffs is your C4 2023 champ............

How, then, did that D lose to C3 Maryville?
well if that is all that it takes then LN is your winner. Their defense is second to none.

obviously, that is not all that it takes. You have to have a good offense as well.

LN offense was using their third string QB as well they had over 100 yards in penalties. When you have personnel out you run into inconsistencies and mistakes.

We Kearney folks know nothing about that................:):)

Nope it is elimination and very hard to find "close" games. I expect teens per week lowering as the rounds move on.
Alright I can do that.

I’ve kept up enough with SW and South Central MO football that the picks don’t take me long.

And even though I’m very familiar and played football in NWMO back in the day, I haven’t kept up as much so the picks for up there take me a lot longer to figure out lol

I've been following this sport for 4 decades plus and get stumped weekly. I "know" just enough about MO HSFB to realize how much I have to learn!

You Left out Hannibal i see. Don’t forget we got one of the best All Purpose players in Aneyas Williams. 4th in All career Touchdowns, and 4th in career points scored.

Hannibal is going to keep getting better. I heard they have some guys coning back soon, They have had some injuries to major players this year. Wilson came back last week and will be a difference maker on both sides of the ball. One of their corners is out with a broken hand and looks to be back next week. Also their transfer WR/DB from NJ, should be back in about 4 weeks as well. Crazy that Hannibal is currently the 4th seed in their district.

I don't understand why Lutheran North fell down in ranking. I believe Smithville is the number two for one reason and that reason being "on paper" and recent years the defeating of Kearney who is another top 4 team in MO.

Kearney is ranked properly. I can see Hillsboro also being up in the rankings to 2 or 3 with past season success and this season's record.

We will see how good Hillsboro is against the Top ranked team in C5 this weekend. Hannibal isn't a top 4 team to win state to me without more output by the rest of the offense. However, Hannibal is my dark horse to run through a traditionally weaker Eastern Half of the state.

Was this game played in Maryville? If so, the refs are always pro Maryville when playing in Maryville that will never change.

Not "weaker" this year.

Looks like Kearney and Hannibal are both on the mend at the right time. NO prediction how either will fare, though. The upper end of this class is very strong.

Exactly. I agree that the top 4 are very strong! KMO healthy is a problem for a few teams. I feel they leave the run too early in games to appease some athletes outside.

But again the coin flip is as predictable as this potential District 8 Championship game will be in a few weeks. I love my Warriors but its always any given friday night.

Kearney's main RB is the best I've seen this year in this area but know Smithville has a stable of their own especially like the HC's kid.

Cannot just run, run, run unless your O Line can handle 9 in the box all game long. The X factor is a healthy QB1 who was tackled very awkwardly last Friday at RS making several of us hold our breath but he seems good to go.

Not "weaker" this year.

Kearney is ranked properly for the performance they had from weeks 1-3 (and the large # of personnel out), but not where they are and where they will be by week 2 of the playoffs with QB1 at a 113 QBR and running wild (when he has been opened up to run), the best middle linebacker in the conference is now playing. A starting corner comes back this week that has been out for a month. Three all-state athletes that did not play on D from weeks 1 to 3 will be in the playoffs. The Jimmy and Joe factor I said long ago will come into play, despite losing an all-conference senior LB and senior Center for the season.

D8 C4 will be a up for grabs, all roads are leading through SVille though. Healthy KMO may be that difference they need.
Hannibal does has AW and he is a game changer when he is on the field 24/7. His hands need to be on the ball no less than every other play.
Hillsboro was like Sville last season and for the better part of their game against St. Mary's had control.

To the awkward tackle: As a former HS player and coach. I will admit very few teams tackle appropriately. There's a hawk roll technique that seems safest for tacklers and players being tackled.

Many teams still fly off feet, grab anything, twist, etc. Turf also is to blame with conditions and some brands of turf that bid low are poor in quality. Are cleats also to blame? IDK.

Everyone at RS last Friday night noticed the "walking wounded". Largest group I can ever remember seeing, frankly, but agree many key components are on the mend and QB1 is playing extremely well.

Healthier (won't be 100 percent no matter what) DISCIPLINED, MATURE KMO would be the difference. We shall see.............cannot wait to go to Grandview and wish I didn't have business travel the next Friday or would peek in at the Belton game especially given what happened in that supposed mismatch last year.

Field conditions seemed fine it was just a strange tackle I was more worried he had hyper-extended something turns out was a simple ankle injury that he shook off as the game progressed.

I think those Dragons simply overlooked both Hillsboro and Smithville but wore each down late.

The computer will have for this week:

Kearney (MO) at Grandview [ Kearney (MO) 28 (53%) Grandview (MO) 27 (47%)]

Here is where it will end up this week:

[2023] Kearney (MO) 44 (94%), [2023] Grandview (MO) 14 (6%)

And that was demonstrated tonight. 42-7 over Grandview. One more all-state athlete back in the lineup in the next week or two, and it will be hitting stride...
