Got word tonight that there is some dissension on one of the teams

I just don’t think CJ will go down without a fight. I am not disputing Webb is favored. I am sure those CJ boys know that too. They are probably using it for motivation.

I wonder what you would hear from a CJ boy is you ask him about the game today - what would he say about it? I know what a WC kid would say (I've heard it for 14 years), here's what you will hear: "Oh, CJ is the best team we've ever faced, they are strong, fast, hard to tackle and seldom miss a tackle, we will have to be on our very best game tonight. It is going to be fun that's for sure. We will respect them all and fear none of them!" That's pretty much the same thing they say every week of the year.

I think the CJ team is just as humble and aren’t predicting anything and know that WC is very good. I find both teams to be stacked with good character kids.

Webb City has tradition and is used to winning. Carl Junction is motivated and tired of hearing they cant win. It wouldnt surprize me if Webb wins big. It wouldn't surprize me if Carl Junction pulls tbe md upset. These teams aren't ranked 1 and 2 in the State without reason. Should be a great atmosphere. Just wished I wasn't working.

If CJ does happen to win it will be like '07 when Carthage defeated Webb City in districts after having lost to them in the regular season. Images of the final scoreboard will be shared on social media wildly for a few days, and posters of the same images will hang in local businesses for years as a reminder of finally winning a game that really mattered. Meanwhile, Webb City fans will have a good laugh over CJ's enthusiasm for winning a district and reassure themselves that next season they will be back to bigger things like winning state titles.

OK since PC is over and it's game time, Last time a WEBB CITY second year starting Senior Quarterback lost before the State Championship? 07 Kyle was a junior..Wall is a beast but the best coaching staff in Missouri High School Football by now have schemed for him. Kennedy can run well but receiving corp isn't that scary. I can't imagine WEBB not handling this pretty easily. Maybe close early like the first 5 minutes, after that, track meet. Why are polls always stupid unless it's WEBB vs CJ or cTOWN? It's always number 1 vs 2. cTOWN in the past was always 2nd even though they never played Kearney or Hville or ... but because their only loss was to WEBB they automatically would've won the rest if WEBB didn't beat them by 3-4 scores..CJs a good team but like cTOWN they got their one win last year we'll wait another decade for the next one...

Anyone else see a similarity watching the series this last week?

For the record, I haven't seen either team this year but plan to attend tomorrow night. My gut says CJ is due and the turnabout from last year's results would be in order. Have some friends that live there that had positive take-aways from the early loss. They seem cautiously optimistic about their chances. They seem to think the heat wore down Weston and Walls going both ways previously but that will be less of an issue with a football season of conditioning under their belt and cooler temps. Not sure who I'm really pulling for. I typically like an underdog but WC is a likable blue collar town whereas the rich Drs and Ambulance chancers gravitate toward the country club junction. Hope it is a good game. I'll just say CJ by 3.

i remember Macs Freshman year,,,at Willard he is put in at QB in 4th qtr cause score is getting out of hand. First varsity snap he keeps on the option and takes it to the house. Young man was fun to watch.

Howard lost to Cammy as a junior in quarters won State as a Senior. Mac lost to cTOWN as a junior won as a Senior. P Drake lost as a junior(?) then they went on the crazy run of 5 straight Championships capped by a loss to Kearney. Link lost in the quarters to Hville last year as a junior so it's just kind of our thing, he's a Senior, second year starter, GAME OVER!!! LOL , if it were only that easy..

I think there's a lot to that 3peat. Kennedy is a good qb that has improved immensely over the year, his running is a real threat. (He was an unknown in the first game and Buck's evaluation of him after the jamboree wasn't that great, left people all wondering how much time he would get in the game - Buck sure fooled us on that one - he played the entire game.) But Cash learned a lot from last year's struggles and struggles from last year has certainly made him a better leader this year. So, will QB experience be the factor, which one can handle the adversity?

This was a discussion in our house last night. I didn’t realize that this WC team has never won a state championship. They will likely have a huge chip on their shoulders. However, don’t you also think that may make them vulnerable to getting beat? They haven’t developed the same poise of their predecessors in a playoff game. Most of these Seniors probably didn’t play much at State v. Kearney. I don’t know of their history matters tonight. Now—we KNOW that their coaches DO matter. They know what to do to get the job done. Although I picked CJ to be different, I would never bet against Rod, Smitty and Co.
