Buckle Up Webb City

Exactly, year in and year out. Playing BSS, Rock, LSW, Lib North etc etc etc. they’re gonna pretend thats easy to do.

Then you get to the Playoffs in Class 6 you’re seeing DeSmet, CBC, Kirkwood, and Hazelwood Central year in and year out.

Webb isnt even remotely challenged in SWMO or class 4.
It takes a toll if you aren’t in shape and ready to go on Friday night

Carthage has been good to very good every year since the early 2 thousands . They just had to get through Webb to make the playoffs...they couldn't ..went to class 5 and have made at least the semifinals 4 years in a row .this year CJ sucked ...previous 4 years they were the best team Webb saw..including 2016 when they beat Webb week 1 and lost to them In the district final

Thanks for this. Doesnt change a thing. If Carthage was a STL or KC team they would never in a billion years be considered a top team year in year out.

Again you guys are trying to argue that SWMO Schedule and Class 4 teams in the Playoffs (literally no consistent team besides Webb) is the same difficulty as competing in Class 6 its just not the case.
Also you have 2 teams to make your argument. 3 teams in the entire SWMO are even considered state wide formidable.

They did have an average year in 2019 I agree (dont tell JN this) but make no mistake Class 6 from top to bottom is the highest level of football in the state and its difficult year in and year out. Class 4 isnt even competitive any more for Coach and they have no real year in/out competition.
Some people are ok with not being challenged and being a big Fish in a very small pond. its a personality trait really.

LOL, what is this child psychology? Yeah he will go coach some “Legendary” school in KC with a couple Championships the last couple decades and leave his lifelong hometown. Uhm wouldn’t you think if his dream would be to move up it wouldn’t be in some KC hole. He could pretty much of walked into PITT STATE and signed the papers when ever he wanted. And Jnet maybe if it wasn’t every 4-5 years that Kearney actually had a team good enough to get far enough to play WEBB the records would be different. GOD knows in the playoffs we’ve slapped the snot out of the teams that sent the dawgs packing plenty of times.

Um Pitt State is a tiny Division 2 school. Not really ambitious but I guess I see your point.

Pitt St isn't going to hire a high school coach. How many games has Rod coached over the past 20 years where the opponent had comparable talent to his?

Webb doesn’t have any talent, don’t you listen on here?? Only Metro area schools have talented kids.

Our kids are no more talented than other coaches have to work with

Webb challenges itself. Losing any game is completely unacceptable. Anything less than a Championship is failure.

What? Webb has way more talent than almost every team they play. It is like Kansas or Duke playing Missouri State. It wouldn't be that way at Pitt St.

I have been friends with the assistant AD at Pitt for 20 years. I assure you the last ten+ years JROD could of signed those papers any time. Don’t be foolish that high school coaches don’t move up and take head coaching jobs in smaller college ball. It’s not Alabama, it’s Pitt State where JROD was a two time All America linebacker and then was an assistant on both offense and defense there before coming back to WEBB. His great name recognition alone would be such a great recruiting tool.

Does anyone in Texas know who he is? Serious question as I really don't know.

It works with recruiting (the name JRod) to Webb. I hear he's got another big kid that is moving in over Christmas to play another DE position.

Except all 5 linemen should have been all state
First of the year those kids weren’t real sure which direction the ball was going. Kept working and got better each week. Couple of sophomores on that line could be decent by the time they are seniors

I am always amazed he gets that many kids out for football when the kids should know they are going to get recruited over anyway.

I’m not even sure that is English. “Get recruited over” WTH does that even mean? As far as Texas, I’m guessing with the accolades John has gotten there are coaches in Texas that know JROD or at least who he is. Do kids in Texas know who the coach is at MOSO or Northwest or any of the four states D2 schools?

Actually, the new MOSO coach is rather famous.

I know he did well at Garden City. Famous, little reach. At least in this convo. You think if you asked kids in Dallas Texas without them looking him up on their phones they could tell you who Jeff Sims is? I’m guessing if you asked 90% of the local kids who he is they wouldn’t know, excluding CJ of course.

It means you are playing a certain position but the coaches get someone better to play over you.

I know what your ignorant comment meant. Wanted you to come straight out and say John recruited players. Gotta reach for something when you can’t beat him I guess. At least give him credit for recruiting on talent. Had to be pretty damn keen to recruit a 5’7 All State inside linebacker. Not many would’ve been that smart to see it..

He had some crazy appearances on Last Chance U.

good to know. But that’s exactly my point. Nothing challenging about Class 4
I guess that's something you could ask Ladue, or Kearney, or Platte County or any of the 63 other class 4 schools. Regardless of the classification, there's only one team that finishes on top.

One of the Webb City people said it. I just followed up.

lol, well there’s evidence of ignorance on a topic and then there’s just plain stupidity due to a lack of awareness of reality. Success couldn’t ever be just the result of hard work and dedication to a common goal. Of course 3 decades of success and dominance can only be due to better recruiting the right kids.

Every other school in the state has weak classes sometimes. Even schools that are much larger like Kickapoo and Nixa. There is some reason Webb hasn't had a down class in 30 years. No one is breaking any rules but there is no way over the past 30 years almost all of the best players in SW MO were all born within the Webb City school district lines. Most likely it is the parents of 4th graders who think their kid is a good football player moving them to WC, which is smart and there is nothing you can do about it. It is a plausible explanation and also legal.

You said "Besides more money" like that isnt a good enough reason lol

Also I think he would leave for a challenge. He's proven very obviously that he's the best in Class 4. However the competition at that level isnt very stiff. Its Much Much harder to win in Class 6 year in and year out hence why Nobody will probably every dominate class 6 the way Class 2/4 have been dominated.

Some people are motivated by a challenge. Also making 20-30k more and living in Kansas City is a much better quality of life. He'll also have many more resources at Blue Springs than at Webb City.

I can buy the money argument. But to say that living in KC vs SWMO means a much better quality of life... is way off... I would say its the exact opposite.

Its also legal to think your kid is good in 8th grade and sending the to DeSmet, CBC, Lutheran North, Trinity, or any other private in St Louis if that is what you want to do as a parent.

Meth is everywhere. Harder to get busted in small towns.

I would say harder in a large town to get busted they have alot of other issues to worry about, my cousin works up there and he transfered from down here, he says they are always very short handed. Hell I rarely see a cop on patrol in Springfield or the KC area when I drive thru.
Now yes there are some rural areas, especially County schools that only has a sheriff to enforce the law that well has some different sort of people living there.

Heck man Webb has had 10-12 down years in the last 30 seasons. I remember back in 98 we went 5-5 and John about had to move out of town!!!!

thanks. Facts still remain. Webb City or its coach are challenged by Class 4 football.
