Buckle Up Webb City

Coach Rod has a 91 win % against schools his size and much larger. Never plays down a class. Imagine what his win % would be if he only played schools in his class or smaller. He is 2-0 against Rock. I’m sure Rock will be improved. Good enough for 2nd place if Rod takes the BS job. Which by the way is all I think this rumor is so you’ll never have to worry.
I think that he would be successful but class 6 is a different beast than class 4 and with all the inherent advantages private schools have and with the staff they are putting together Rockhurst will be at least as good every year as Desmet or CBC has been in their primes

What could Blue Springs offer John that he does not already have? He has it made were he is, his family is close by, he has a great program that for the next decade looks to be set. I mean besides more money, I don't know what could attract John to Blue Springs?

You said "Besides more money" like that isnt a good enough reason lol

Also I think he would leave for a challenge. He's proven very obviously that he's the best in Class 4. However the competition at that level isnt very stiff. Its Much Much harder to win in Class 6 year in and year out hence why Nobody will probably every dominate class 6 the way Class 2/4 have been dominated.

Some people are motivated by a challenge. Also making 20-30k more and living in Kansas City is a much better quality of life. He'll also have many more resources at Blue Springs than at Webb City.

Coach rod *should* get win #300 next year. In I think his 24th year coaching . That's nuts . How many coaches in mo have won 300 games ? Shore ? Adkins ?

There is a twist to this, though. Webb will probably move up to Class 5 next year..............

Is big city living in Kansas City really considered better quality of life? Not bashing KC but I have to say some of us are living the dream is some town in a place called Rural Mo.

As for the money is $30,000 more a year going to get you that much better of a lifestyle in KC? I would think the cost of living difference would eat that up in a heart beat!

Webb Being Class 5 is still not the same as coaching an Historically great Class 6 Kansas City School Blue Springs who can pay you much more money.

Webb is a great program. Not disputing that. But Coaching Class 4 is like Coaching D1-AA. Class 5 is like Non-Power 5. Class 6 KC is like coaching Power 5 SEC school for a comparison.

Well the cost of living isnt high really anywhere in Missouri unless you're downtown KC or Downtown STL so 20k+ would be significant.

And while you guys like small Webb City (nothing wrong with Webb) some people like big Cities and Blue Springs is a large suburb. Not even the "city". We dont know which he would prefer just speculating.

My main guess IF he were to leave is the Challenge. like I just said to another poster: Coaching Class 4 is like Coaching D1-AA. Class 5 is like Non-Power 5. Class 6 KC is like coaching Power 5 SEC school for a comparison.

Like Would you rather be the greatest Mountain West coach ever or go Coach in the SEC?
I can guess a lot of you might take this as a slight because "Webb is usually a top 3 team regardless of class" which is true.

But the Stakes and the challenge is much bigger coaching Class 6 KC were you have 7-10 other programs who are also big also have comparable athletes etc. You're profile would also grow because you'll have 3 HUGE rivals out the gate: Rockhurst, Liberty North, and BSS.

Webb doesnt really have a dance partner and me personally I would get stale.
Am I the only one seeing the positives in a potential move?? lol

Better quality of life???? John lives across the street on the other side of stadium drive from me in the same house his parents built that he grew up in. There have been no shootings or major drug busts in our neighborhood in my lifetime

Don’t think the cesspool that is Kansas City it something John would want to subject his family to. Plus he has a couple of new grandsons coming up that could be good players

Im speculating of course, I have no idea of his preferences. I actually said that COMPETITION would probably be the main reason.
Kansas City is the 2nd largest Metro Area in Missouri and a much more popular place to live than Webb City. So many Missourians and Americans would Consider KC>Webb in quality of life. Dont know whats disputable about this.

I disagree with the predicate that somehow 6A football in KC is something special. They appear to be no better than average if that

They did have an average year in 2019 I agree (dont tell JN this) but make no mistake Class 6 from top to bottom is the highest level of football in the state and its difficult year in and year out. Class 4 isnt even competitive any more for Coach and they have no real year in/out competition.
Some people are ok with not being challenged and being a big Fish in a very small pond. its a personality trait really.

They went toe to toe with the second best class 6 program in the state this year. They beat the class 5 state champ. KC yes some years is really good, but this year SWmo was better, their conference was impressive.

Webb has stepped up and played the best the state has had to offer and they beat most of them.

Webb City is a football factor, from their youth program to high school they just impress.

So you are saying Coach Severino was not capable of building a winning program at Rockhurst???

John is already making what Donohoe was at Blue Springs.

How is Blue Springs historically great?? They have won like 5 titles ever

Webb’s regular season schedule since they entered the COC has mostly been Class 5 schools

Yea I dont think he leaves. Im just acknowledging that yea some people just for the sake of competition will challenge themselves to test their greatness. No matter now you slice it Webb City isn’t challenged in SWMO nor in Class 4. Its not like coach can get MORE impressive the Webb Dynasty has peaked.
Now if we went up to Class 6 and did it then now we’re in Different air.

Coach LePage couldnt do it at Jeff City and Nick Saban couldnt do it in the NFL, so I understand why a Small School coach may not wanna make the jump.

Class 5 *SWMO who oppose no threat to them whatsoever. Class 6 in a Major city its threats all around.

Im starting to see though that you guys are in denial lol. You all know Webb, because of geographic location and Playing Class 4 in the Playoffs arent actually seeing the best the state has to offer and they are rarely challenged.

Im just saying if you want the Challenge you move to KC class 6.

Dude you have delusions of grandeur bigtime. 6A football in KC is nothing but average at best. Your top team got blasted by Desmet couldn’t even score on them. Joplin was ahead of Desmet until mid 3rd qtr, gave up 3 turnovers and lost a great game.

Serious question. Let's say JRod did the take the job. How long would it take for Blue Springs to learn how to run the veer to his expectations?
Do you think they would be successful year 1 or would it take a few years to get it down?

Heck Webb hasn't ran it to his expectations yet!
you got that right lol

Ladue game late we are up 28-0 in the red zone Hicks made a bad decision and turns the ball over. I thought John was going to rip his helmet off,,,,then Hicks turns his back on JRod while he is still coaching him up,,,not a good idea!!!

It is actually too bad that Webb can't schedule out of conference anymore.

Webb beat the class 5 state Champ from SWMO and before Joplin Joined the COC Webb’s 1 non conference game was against the big boys and they smoked them

They are challenged plenty . Joplin beat them this year and Carthage won state in class 5

Playing 2 games out of 14 against a good team and only 1 of those teams challenging you IS NOT good competition. I cant believe you guys are still pretending Class 6 football isnt a billion times harder.

I miss the days when Webb had one or two non conference games to schedule. They would always pick a challenge ...Rock Bridge , Jeff City , Rockhurst Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale-HarBer. Pittsburg KS. Mephis Ridgeway etc

Exactly, year in and year out. Playing BSS, Rock, LSW, Lib North etc etc etc. they’re gonna pretend thats easy to do.

Then you get to the Playoffs in Class 6 you’re seeing DeSmet, CBC, Kirkwood, and Hazelwood Central year in and year out.

Webb isnt even remotely challenged in SWMO or class 4.
