Fun fact for BO…all 4 state championships have been won wearing White uniforms. They lost in 2007 and 2012 wearing Green. Anybody know who will be home or away in this game?
Another fun fact every winning team has had LePage as a coach for at least one year, and five out of six showings as wellFun fact for BO…all 4 state championships have been won wearing White uniforms. They lost in 2007 and 2012 wearing Green. Anybody know who will be home or away in this game?
I would agree I would be shocked if 3,4 or 5 is closeThis is the one I’m most looking forward to watching for sure. A couple of the others will be blowouts I’d say.
Sensing a pattern here..Since the 2011 season(including this season) Lamar is 158-13 with 8 state championships in 12 years and are playing for another later this week.
That’s an average record of 13-1
Of those 13 losses the opponents are as follows:
Cassville- 3
Seneca- 3
Carl Jct- 2
Lathrop- 1
Monett- 1
Ava- 1
Mac County- 1
Lutheran St Charles- 1
BO defense is better than what they get credit for. It might be the best defense Lamar has seen all year tbh. And BO offense.....is on a different level. I will take BO by a slight margin. Will be an exciting game.Lamar has been the away team the last two yrs!! I’m thinking this will be a similar game to 2012. It was a good close game before Lamar got two pick 6s in the 4th and blew it wide open. Lamar hasn’t seen an offense as good as Blair Oaks but I don’t think Blair Oaks has seen a defense as good as Lamar’s. Defense wins championships so I’ll take Lamar in the most exciting game of the championships!!!
Lamar’s D is the best you have faced id promise it. And we don’t need to defend ours. It’s just good. With saying that, BO will score on them. Would be astonishing if not obviously. I predict a heart attack induced game for both towns. Can’t wait for it. I will say, it’s early. But I did notice 18 mph winds and 40 mph gusts. Something to keep track of for the week. Running on Lamar hasn’t been done much since 2020. Not a brag, just saying. Should be one hell of a game.BO defense is better than what they get credit for. Cannot wait. This matchup for sure will be best of the best. This might come down to turnover battle. One thing to take note of, BO doesn't play many 2 way guys. So they always have fresh players on both sides of the ball. Not sure if Lamar plays very many 2 way guys. Chasing a high potent offense like BO will def wear teams out. Something to think about. Both ways, a fair amount. But they are in better shape than your average run of the mill 2 way team. That’s all they do in the off season. Work on endurance and conditioning. Yeah, turn overs are going to be huge. I’d argue Seneca and Lutheran St Charles both had a much easier time because of mistakes in our last two losses. So we will have to not turn it over. If we play like last week our blocking up field was like it was a few years ago. Hope to see that a second straight week. Respect the hell out of BO. Hope it’s a good one. Either way proud of these boys and excited to be at state.Cannot wait. This matchup for sure will be best of the best. This might come down to turnover battle. The best small school programs in a matchup?? Count me in!Good take! 2 very well run programs with tradition and great fans...should be a instant classic.
Lamar would absolutely stop Starks enough he would have a similar to worse game then against BO, and wouldn’t have allowed the special team miscues. Just judging on actually watching one of the teams being mentioned and living in the state of the teams being discussed. It’s absolutely true BO can and could very well end up with a similar score. Who knows? It’s football. But there’s are absolutely the two best team this year. Sorry BG. Sorry cards. While it's true Blair Oaks will probably encounter the best defensive squad they've seen all year Lamar's offense isn't in the same category as Bowling Green presented. Blair Oaks definitely took over in the 2nd half, thanks in large part to their ability to keep fresher bodies on the field. Clean up the special teams miscues and I feel this game will also go Blair Oaks way in crunch time.
Not sure how Lamar offense compares to BG. Very different styles, for sure. While it's true Blair Oaks will probably encounter the best defensive squad they've seen all year Lamar's offense isn't in the same category as Bowling Green presented. Bowling Green gave Blair Oaks their toughest test of the year hands down. Lamar has cruised through the far easier side of the bracket. We'll see who's who soon enough.Lamar would absolutely stop Starks enough he would have a similar to worse game then against BO, and wouldn’t have allowed the special team miscues. They will be a absolute handful. Not sure how Lamar offense compares to BG. Very different styles, for sure.
I definitely agree about depth playing a big part in Blair Oaks pulling away in the 2nd half. BG was spent by mid-3rd quarter. Also clueless on how to defend Blair Oaks. But probably too fatigued to do it, anyway.
Lamar will do a much better job of defending BO than Bowling Green did. We'll see if it's good enough.
Class 1 won't be a bad one, either.Lamar has been the away team the last two yrs!! I’m thinking this will be a similar game to 2012. Lamar and Blair Oaks are who they are because each EXPECTS to be here every single year. This differentiates this title game from all the others this week.Bowling Green gave Blair Oaks their toughest test of the year hands down. Maryville I would think is equal or better on the testing.Bowling Green gave Blair Oaks their toughest test of the year hands down. Lamar has cruised through the far easier side of the bracket. We'll see who's who soon enough.

Obligatory tell me you don't know much about football without telling me you don't know much about football post. Quit saying bullshit you obviously don't know homer.Maryville I would think is equal or better on the testing.
Maryville lost by 12. BG lost by 18. Glass house. This is a WEMO bias for you. 1,000%Obligatory tell me you don't know much about football without telling me you don't know much about football post. Quit saying bullshit you obviously don't know homer.
Final scores are not indicative of how games are played in many instances. It's foolhardy at best to compare teams in transitory fashion.Maryville lost by 12. BG lost by 18. Glass house. This is a WEMO bias for you. 1,000%
Ok so you watched that game? Or?Final scores are not indicative of how games are played in many instances. It's foolhardy at best to compare teams in transitory fashion.
I was at Maryville/BO game and the BG/BO game. Based on what I saw...BG this year would have beat Maryville handily.Maryville lost by 12. BG lost by 18. Glass house. This is a WEMO bias for you. 1,000%
I think a lot of that has to do with BO running a new defensive scheme and working that out week 1. Also, the freshman RB has gotten a lot better and more comfortable as the year has gone on. He had a heck of a day Saturday. I think if they played Maryville again the would win by 4 scores.Maryville lost by 12. BG lost by 18. Glass house. This is a WEMO bias for you. 1,000%
OR, you are giving more weight to the BO win over BG. Lamar may be the underdog but I have a difficult time thinking they would lose by 21. We will know the answer in 4 days.I will take Blair Oaks in this one by 21. No disrespect to Lamar, I have tons of admiration and respect for their program, but I don't see them keeping up with a team that dropped 66 on Bowling Green.
The play of the game was the interception thrown by BG in the 2nd quarter If they were able to score on that drive, it would've been a different story. BO could've still came away with the W, but it would've changed the game drastically. While it's true Blair Oaks will probably encounter the best defensive squad they've seen all year Lamar's offense isn't in the same category as Bowling Green presented. Did you? How many points did Maryville score on Blair Oaks JV? I can tell you Bowling Green scored all theirs against the varsity. Maryville only scored 14 in the first half, while Blair Oaks posted 34. C'mon you may be a homer but you're better than this.Ok so you watched that game? Or?
I don't think so. Bowling Green gave pretty much all they had in that first half. Hell, Blair Oaks did too. Both teams skill players were sucking wind in the second half. Saw several plays where Blair Oaks players broke contain and opted to hug the sideline and wait to be pushed out of bounds when the clearer path was to cut inside. The play of the game was the interception thrown by BG in the 2nd quarter If they were able to score on that drive, it would've been a different story. NEVER EVER do score comparisons and NEVER EVER put a lot of stock in Weeks 1-2 games. HSFB rules to live by...........Final scores are not indicative of how games are played in many instances. It's foolhardy at best to compare teams in transitory fashion.
Bowling Green's inability to throw the football made it highly unlikely for them to be able to play catch up. Their running game is archaic, but unique enough to cause people problems, with the backs they had. The downside of it is the lack of a passing game. Once they fell behind, their best option was to split their stud RB out wide and throw one up. It worked a couple of times, but just a little too low percentage to pull off repeatedly. Also, he was out of gas by the 4th.The play of the game was the interception thrown by BG in the 2nd quarter If they were able to score on that drive, it would've been a different story. That's why I think the pick was such a big play. If I remember right, they could've went up two scores had they scored on that drive.Bowling Green's inability to throw the football made it highly unlikely for them to be able to play catch up.
