I found this on the St. Louis Post Dispatch Online...
---> It wasn't quite as good as he had hoped, but Chris Pilz wasn't displeased with his first year as the head coach of the University of Missouri-St. Louis basketball team.
"We were hoping for double digit wins and a berth in the conference tournament," he said.
Alas, the Rivermen came close to reaching that goal. They ended up winning nine of 28 contests and just missed qualifying for the Great Lakes Valley Tournament.
"Expectations were low," said Pilz. "I don't think people knw what to expect from us."
The nine wins represented good progress from the previous year. The Rivermen won just five games that season, which prompted the resignation of Mark Bernsen who took an assistant coaching job at Southeast Missouri State University.
"We competed well in just about every game," said Pilz.
