8-man: Worth has yet to lose to a MO team and visits Pattonsburg this Friday.
C1: Catching on to Mid Buchanan. Beginning to believe this may be their chance.
C2: Maryville hosts Savannah next week. Lathrop will go unchallenged in the KCI. What will happen when those two hook up is anyone's guess.
C3: Odessa may be my most likely NWMO team to win it all.
C4: Ladue still a bit of an unknown but, yes, keep the champ #1 til knocked off.
C5: Jackson-Chaminade is now my title pick. Totally amazed nobody posted Chaminade's one-point loss to DeSmet (32-31).
C6: Perhaps more wide open than previously thought (see C5). Or could mean Chaminade is this year's Vianney.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion on the DeSmet 32, Chaminade 31 game. Chaminade went for 2 and the win with 54 seconds left but came up short.

Chaminade missed and early 2 pt attempt and chased subsequent attempts trying to make up for it. If they’d kicked and made 1 pt tries, that’d have been the difference. Tough loss. They host Lutheran North in a few weeks, FYI.

I know MV is 6-0 but they really have only played one decent team so far, they are feasting on the weaker east side of the big 8. I will be interested in the Seneca MV game this week to see how they hold up, I would not be surprised if Seneca wins by 2 TD's.

I can agree with that. I really contemplated putting them around 7th-8th, due to the fact that in my eyes the only real credible win they had was over Monett. But I’ve underestimated them in the past multiple times and have been proven wrong so that’s why I have them where they are.

Its funny how Styles make fights. This LN team is probably a little better than last year. They will probably embarrass Chaminade again but I dont think they'd give desmet a close game.

Mizzou Recruit Brady Cook Chaminade QB last year vs Lutheran North =
11/27 48 yards 0 TD and 2 INTs and sacked 6 times. thats a abysmal 1.7 yards per attempt and LN won 40-0.

I never get tired of being wrong so I’ll throw this out there. Defending Class 1 champ Hayti has an extremely tough 2 week stretch that I think will result in back to back losses against a talented Scott City Offense and close Rival Caruthersville.

The Caruthersville game should definitely be a good one. They beat Valle(yes I know that Valle was down their starting QB that game), but nonetheless. And they gave Kennett a tougher game than anyone else has.

Jackson does nothing but impress week after week and a Chaminade team that's been picked apart twice already gets placed over them just because they had a good game against De Smet who played the worst that they will all season? You bet!

You can't have Southern Boone in there and not Hallsville because SoBoCo lost to them head to head.

Impress who?

Impress who?
Apparently not you... or the AP voters.

Maybe you and those guys haven’t seen Jackson play. If you had, you would have seen a defense that has allowed only 39 points in 6 games while turbo-clocking 5 of their opponents, including Battle. Battle was ranked 7th at the time by those same voters and is still ”impressive” enough to stay at #9, in spite of 2 losses.

However, I am impressed that 9 “sports guys” manage to vote in lock-step for the same #1 in all 6 classes.

Class 5 is super weak this season. I'm glad Jackson has had the opportunity to ride that wave. Honestly, Chaminade's loss last week was more impressive than any of Jackson's wins, but keep telling yourself whatever you need to. And I agree, Battle is overrated ... but then again, is anyone in Class 5 really that good?

I have been one of the people arguing against recombining Class 5 and 6. I have always argued that there were great Class 5 teams that just can't compete with the Class 6 talent due to the enrollment difference. I don't see a single great team in Class 5 this year and there's really only about 3-4 good teams. Maybe it's time to go back to 5 classes.

So, you’ve been arguing against recombining the two classes, but now you’re in favor? Well, keep telling yourself whatever you need to.

Now, if Jackson and Chaminade make it to the final and Jackson wins, you would still not be impressed with Jackson? What would they have to do to impress you?

I will admit that Jackson has played what appears to be a soft schedule. But they have not played down to their competition, so I am impressed with what they have done this season. Chaminade on the other hand has played a very tough schedule and have handled it very well so far. When it gets down to game time. You are tasked with beating the team that is on the field with you, who ever that might be

What evidence would you point to that shows class 5 to be weak this season. Just curious.

But what makes it weak though
There are only 3 teams in the Class 5 Top 10 that have an above average schedule strength. All three (Staley, Carthage, and Chaminade) have 2 losses. So the Class 5 Top 10's only "accomplishment" is losing to good teams and beating bad ones.

If you disagree, please provide any evidence you have to support your argument. Why am I the only person in this argument who is required to prove anything?

Are you kidding me? How is Mt.Vernon above CASSVILLE and Seneca. Mt.Vernon hasnt played a good team yet, they probably have the easiest schedule out of any team in the big 8, it's like spoon feeding a baby, they will NOT win against Seneca this week
Granted the Big 8 West does seem more even across the board at the top, but good teams still find ways to win games no matter. Mt. Vernon played a close game against Monett and took last second plays to win. What would happen if Mt. Vernon had three-four weeks of game film to prepare for Monett instead of just a week of jamboree film? This week will provide more answers about Mt. Vernon. Don't count your chickens before they are hatched

Just hold on until the new ranking alignments kick in. Then we'll see Class 5 get stronger when Class 4 "dynasties" have moved up to make C-5 more respectable... or "impressive" to you.
