THE OZARKS
Taking my stab at the rankings after this week of football.

It was a little more difficult this week so in some classes I added some extra spots.

Keep in mind, I wasn’t able to get a score on the Trinity game, it may be posted somewhere on here, but I’m going to assume they beat Miller Career Academy this week.

I will post the Large school classes tomorrow.

Do you think Ava takes out Lamar? That seems crazy to me.

I'd say it will be a Maryville/Ritter and Lamar/Centralia semi. Whomever comes out of 7/8 will provide the toughest test for Ritter, but they are the highest percentage favorite all classes to me. Jackson is in the convo.

Lamar defense is allowing 19.1 ppg this year. Their defense will be their downfall come the playoffs.

I don't know CF:
1. I would have Odessa #1. I think they are BFS than B.O. Both have Hall of Fame coaches so no advantage there.
2. No way Southern Boone is 11th best team in class 3. The teams they have beaten have a combined record of 9-26 and some of those wins are against each other, so.....
3. Buffalo, just not enough information to know if they belong.in the conversation.
Looking at what I do know about them, they lost to Ava at Ava week one 36-38. Hallsville, class 2 school, lost to Ava at Ava 26-28 in week two. Since coming to Hallsville this year from Battle, coach Conyers has made great progress with their program and they are much better on both sides of the ball than they were week two. Nevertheless, they lost to Blair Oaks at home week six 0-35. Assuming that Buffalo is much improved from week one, how will they match up to Blair Oaks or any other quality class 3 team?????????????? The opponents they have defeated have a combined record of 14-28 and some of those wins are against each other so their schedule yields no helpful clues.

Lamar isn't very good this year
That may be, but who beats them? By far the easier side of the bracket.

I could see Ava beating them IF that matchup occurs. But you never know. It’s hard to say that when Lamar probably has more playoff wins this decade than any other Class 2 team. It’s going to be an interesting post season throughout all small school classes this year.

Lamar will have to earn their district championship this year but should be able to keep that streak alive. From there it is hard to tell. With all the conference realignments, most teams schedules are full of conference games putting a lot of mystery on the playoffs. Is Ava the product of a down SCA or are they legit, is Centralia real or are they taking advantage of a weak schedule, is the Big 8 down or is there greater parity at the top? I think there could be some unexpected out comes come playoff time. Most of those teams play within their district during the season so it could be late in the playoffs.

They weren't last year, either.
Based on some of the Lamar comments seems you are only good if you win 7 ships in a row and keep winning. Anything else is, "Lamar is not very good", and "they weren't last year". I guess if you are comparing the current Lamar team versus past Lamar teams exclusively then you are correct. But keep in mind about 90% of the football teams in Missouri would love to have Lamar's down year. Lamar has a decent chance of making it to the Semi-Finals once again. If they do it would be their 11th appearance in a row. Can anyone else say that?

People like to throw rocks at shiny things. Every team is different. Every season is different. Ever team plays their best game against Lamar. Not a complaint, just a product of success. We'll see where things shake out when the games are played. Undefeated seasons are normally the exception, not the rule. Lamar has 2 losses to good Class 3 schools. Each of those games, with the exception of a couple of plays, Lamar wins.

Take a chill pill. They were not great for a Class 2 semifinal team last year. That's all I'm saying. Quit getting so defensive just because nobody is paying your humble-bragging program any attention anymore.

Mid Buchanan is looking strong in class one. Their only loss this year is to Lathrop no shame there. I think they will beat Lawson this year.
Have to I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Lamar get to the semis and even finals. Everyone else is on the other side of the bracket this year, aside from a couple teams who will have to back up the hype

Summit Christian imo would be a sleeper if they were on the easier side of the bracket, but the way it is I think the road just looks too tough for them this particular year

Really? You are talking about them. Just pointing out the misguided logic with these posts. Furthermore, I have not seen anyone from Lamar or anywhere else bragging on them this year, I would argue just the opposite many from Lamar realize this team will have to play better football to go deep in the playoffs...still doesn't mean they are not good. Down yes, Not good, that is a stretch.

Yeah, I said they were not very good last year. And I'll stick by that. Yes, compared to the majority of other Class 2 schools, they were pretty good. Compared to a typical Class 2 semifinal team, they were not. It's all subjective. Sorry if it's not what you want to hear.

I don't know that a couple of plays on Lamar's side would have changed the outcome of the Monett game, I think a couple of plays Lamar did make forcing Monett to kick two field goals kept the score close.
But Lamar is still a very dangerous and good class 2 team and ever program has a drop in talent at sometime, Lamar's run could not go on forever...but it was an amazing run while it lasted.

Make the field goal at the end of the 2nd, merely tackle the punter on the 4th and forever when he muffed the snap are just 2 plays that would have made a huge difference, among others.

What's everyone hearing about Lincoln in Class 1.

Good team that plays nobody. Who knows?
They were in the final last year and return a lot.

What's everyone hearing about Lincoln in Class 1.
Really athletic, supposedly have a kid committed to Mizzou for baseball. They have a lot of speed and are pretty aggressive defensively. District could be interesting with Skyline, with probably Lockwood as the third best team.

I would take Thayer by 3 TDs, assuming these two get the opportunity to meet.

Being the resident Odessa poster on here, I really like Odessas chance this year. My only concern, they wont have faced many tests during the regular season. Harrisonville is looming but that's about it.

It was a tough choice to decide whether or not to put Odessa or BO at #1 just like it was last week. Either way, a matchup between the two would be a sight to see, that’s for sure. I feel that Blair oaks is more battle-tester, BUT barely.

Trinity still has alot of raw talent. If their new coach gets them to play to their potential still they will win Class 3. If not Odessa has to be the favorite.

IF they meet I hope I don't have to miss it. It has the potential to be a classic.

Skyline isn't that good IMO. They barely beat a waaaaay down Strafford team and got smoked by Fair Grove. Also beat 2-5 Archie by 2 TDs.

I'd say Lockwood is 2nd best in that district but due to playing down all season will get 3rd seed.

I agree, but that district is weak compared to the Thayer. That's what I am trying to say, that Lincoln seems to have an easier road.

After looking at it you're absolutely right.

Cole Camp may hold onto the 3 and send lockwood to the 4-5 game. But they also lost to Windsor so.....

One thing I’ve learned in the past is to never count out skyline, as soon as you do, their athleticism will carry them a victory that you didn’t think was possible, but as anything, that’s just my opinion.

I would honestly take Thayer over any team in Class 1 right now. The SCA may be down, but Thayer plays the most physical brand of football in Class 1 and just finds a way to win. Now 10-15 years ago, I would have said the same things about certain GRC teams, but not today.

Skyline has had really good teams in the past, I don't know if this year they are top tier of their district. Thayer is the best coming of out of the southern side of Missouri. If I was going to measure Class 1 in SOMO:
1. Thayer
2. Lincoln (I know they are more central but going by district)
3. Pierce City
4. Miller
