1st Missouri media poll

I'll take it. Harrisonville only has like 850 students, they should never be top 5. Hell they lost to Excelsior Springs. Maybe they should be unranked.

Is there something I don't know about Ladue that puts them ahead of all the good SW and NW schools (other than Webb)?

It's preseason of course, but one head scratcher to me was Centralia. This is not one of those rank them based upon last years results (see Macon, Monroe City, et all), AND they lost their legendary coach to retirement. Not saying they won't be good at all, it just doesn't fit the normal M.O. of the media voter.

Exactly 10 turnovers in a half. But they did beat K-town.
Too bad about this year...have WC in the quarterfinals...IF they make it there.
There are two big signs that football season is upon us. First, all the weekly pick ems start up. Second and more importantly, the trash talking starts up again lol.

I've been singing their praises since last year's semifinal. Their D should be trememdous (had a huge kid on DL cannot remember his name that should be back) and many returnees on O. Their best all purpose player was hurt in the playoffs last year or they likely would have been Harrisonville's title opponent. Again the #1 game in STL area this Friday is them traveling to FZ North, who is also loaded with returnees.

Not a fan of McDowell at all but really respect Clisso. He does a lot of good work in the KC metro and his website is one of my main sources of info (since I have been on night shift the past four seasons..........that is about to change thankfully!). Know literally nothing about the others.

I'm not buying Harrisonville yet. Losing Salemea, I'm sure I spelled that wrong, is a HUGE loss. That kid was such a difference maker. He would have gone FBS if he was 4 inches taller.

My prediction: The Webb trolls that have been absent since Kearney beat them in 2015, will be all over this board again, because their team is going to be rolling this year.

Am I mistaken or is there something wrong with Pierce City being ranked in the preseason top 10? That was a headscratcher for me along with Lockwood.

And Glendale being ranked in the Class 5 Top Ten? Granted, I watch mostly OC/SCA games, but the fact that Glendale graduated ALL of their offensive starters from last year and ALL of their top receivers from a year ago makes me doubt that they're deserving of this ranking. I understand that they have their QB back and their offense is always going to put up big numbers, but if they can't put a defense on the field, I can see them having similar results to what they had in 2015.

It's Selemaea. I used to have to write his name on roster sheets when I coached him in little league. ;)

Harrisonville has always been a program that reloads. Time will tell.

You are correct, it is a HUGE loss. Not only his athleticism on both sides of the ball and in special teams (punting, kicking, returning both), but his enthusiasm and leadership as well. He had a drive that motivated the rest of the team. You can't coach that portion.

Losing Morgan and the rest of that senior class had me very skeptical as well coming into this season. Replacing 6 players on both sides of the ball is not easy. From what I have seen so far, however, I am encouraged. There is a lot of talent still left in the skill positions and the line is fairly solid, particularly the interior. May not be a State-caliber team, but would expect they will win their fair share of games and should have a better regular-season record than last year's team.

There's nothing "wrong" with a 7 and 4 (not 5 and 4) team that lost 3 starters being ranked in a preseason poll. Ranking Lockwood ahead of Sarcoxie is closer to being "wrong"..

I think Glendale loses its entire defense. Pretty sure they return entire OL and 4-5 of their WR played a lot last year. In part because they played so many guys at that position.

Last year they played it a little more straight up. I would expect a return to never punting and onsides kicks.

Now, I don't know for certain, but I'd wager 75%+ of these people have never laced up a pair of cleats.
The only thing that makes sports media people "experts" is that they buy ink by the barrel.
hey now! I don't use ink. I use vocal chords :D lol. I have never partaken in polls because, well the only team I've seen so far this pre-season is Chillicothe in practice and I can't judge how good they will be against teams I've not yet seen. But that's just me. It's fun for the students on the team and some of the fans....

I saw PC in the jamboree and they seemed to have to tools to be successful in class 1. Good speed, size, and numbers back from a 7-4 team that was loaded with freshmen and sophomores last year.

I had meant to say the lost ALL of their Defensive starters and the their top 3-4 receiving threats.

I forgot that they made a decent district run, but I guess where I'm coming from is going barely above .500 with their regular season schedule(not exactly a gauntlet of a schedule)and then being preseason state ranked? Idk. Just my opinion

I agree that the SRVC was probably down, but I was very impressed with what they did against Stockton and Neveda in the jamboree. Those two seemed to have their varsity athletes on the field as well and PC scored 3-4 touchdowns against each in 12 plays.

Don't care about the rankings but don't sleep on Hannibal. Liked the QB last year he is back along with some other pretty good skill players (but did lose the stud RB, funny how some teams are actually better the year after he graduates).
