Issue with Black uniforms!!!

I am old fashioned, but unless your school has Black as one of your colors (Hazelwood W, Hazelwood Central, U. City, Lafayette as examples), your coaches should not be wearing black shirts nor should your team wear all black uniforms.

Is this just a STL problem or is it happening all over the state? Posted this on the StlToday website but no reaction, so am I just an old retired coach who always believed that your uniforms should be your school colors. White and Gray are acceptable, but for some reason I do not like the all black nor coaches for schools whose colors are say Blue and Gold and them wearing black shirts.

Let me hear your thoughts and I am back on this site to report on the STL, but really enjoy reading about the rest of the state.

Tonight is going to be awesome, high school football is back!!!

KOAM Pigskin Preview (SWMO)

KOAM posted this years edition of the preview. It's basically just a website with responses to the forms completed by each teams coach. They do have predictions for each team as well - a few ones of note:

Carl Junction - 5-4 (no longer in the COC)
Carthage 8-1 My guess is they pick Carthage to beat Webb City and lose to Nixa. High expectations for this Carthage team. They've got a lot.
Joplin 4-5 Lost a ton. They may be better than some expect though. We'll see.
Neosho 3-6
Webb City 7-2 I'm guessing they are looking at Carthage and Nixa as possible L's.

They also like Seneca, Mt Vernon and Lamar to be very good.

They don't cover any schools that are outside their media market such as the rest of the COC.

Open forum: 2024 games to watch

Here are a few in and out of NWMO region among the larger schools I have sourced so far:

Cardinal Ritter at Rochester IL (absolutely titanic game maybe best interstate matchup out there). Ritter also hosts Bishop Miege (needs no KC metro intro) and is at DeSmet the following week (8).

Speaking of the Spartans they will travel to Edwardsville IL who will also rematch Jackson on the road. Good measuring stick interstate games for both MO powers.

Bryant AR at CBC (glad to see this return game should be another shootout).

Bentonville AR at Lee's Summit North top drawer Week 4 game. The Broncos play at Mill Valley KS the week before. The Jags could be the overall #1 team in the Sunflower State this fall.

Others? I know it is still early but what the heck it beats talking about this 100 degree heat...............

8/23 Jamborees

Cameron hosts East Buchanan, Excelsior Springs, and Lathrop
Ray-Pec hosts Kearney and Raytown
Van Horn Hosts Truman, Winnetonka, and Pleasant Hill
Grain Valley Hosts Lees Summit, Liberty North, and St. Pius X
St. Joe Central hosts Savannah, ST Joe Benton, and ST Joe Lafayette
Liberty host Smithville, Park Hill and Blue Springs South

Cameron- not interested but if film comes available i may watch
Ray Pec- I get them scheduling who they did only head scratcher is why Kearney accepted. There is better opps out there
Van Horn- Get it and good for Pleasant Hill
Grain Valley- good set of teams, interested in how all 4 look even more so if pius x ends up in 5
ST joe- i get it location, location location
Liberty- great set of teams would love to see this one live as well

whats your thoughts and are you going to any

JUST FOR FUN.

With IMG getting "upset" by this Canyon school from Utah, just interested in hearing people's thoughts about what Missouri schools you all think would be able to not just compete, but beat IMG.
I have a few schools in mind myself. I only posted this because they were referring to IMG as defending national champions...in my best Noah Lyles voice "national champions of what"...

810Varsity has posted LS North, Excelsior Springs previews plus their pre-season Top 25

Will let you all head over and read in depth. This Top 25, difficult as all class ones can be, looks pretty darned good both sides of the State line.

As stated back in the spring thrilled for Danneman getting his HC shot at Excelsior nowhere to go but up there he will make a difference.

LS North is everything advertised. How they adjust to their coaching change will be key but expect them to be right there at the end yet again.

Before I crawl back into my hole until the next conference re-alignment…

I’m being 100% heartfelt and sincere (make fun or call me old if you want; I am 41 if you’re curious 🤷🏻‍♂️)

I talk a lot about how the legislation of contact out of the game is going to be the ruin of American football (and I mean every word of it), but I’ve come to realize this season (and not just during the show me bowl) that there’s something else our sport should be just as worried about…

…and that’s the fact that football is quickly becoming the most classless of ALL sports (not just American sports). This is not a Missouri problem, this is not a STL problem, this is not a private school problem; this is a football problem (and yes, I blame the NFL!)

The NFL’s rules and precedents always bleed down (always have); so when the NFL allows players to taunt, jaw, and even shove each other after nearly every play without any consequences, it’s naturally going to bleed down to the college and high school game.

Part of the reason I’ve long preferred college and high school football to the NFL is because it use to be the case that refs wouldn’t tolerate that crap at those levels; the flags came out quick. That’s not the case anymore, and yet we still act surprised when games get out of hand (or worse yet, we defend it! …with stupid crap like “let them have fun” 😡)

Baseball bores me to tears, but at least they govern themselves (that’s why you never even look at a home run for too long after hitting one); hockey’s the same way. For the NBA, it took players going after fans in the stands before they took action; now, the kind of taunting and jawing you see in football will get you a technical foul in basketball…

…and that’s what it’s going to take to save football from being the most classless of all sports; THROW THE FLAGS! No more taunting, jawing, and especially shoving after the play; flag’em early and demonstrate that their behavior hurts their team and gets them ejected after a couple of offenses.

Remember when a runner could get a first down and not feel the need to get up and give the first down signal in the face of the tackling defender?…

Or when a pass could simply fall incomplete without the defender giving the signal for incomplete pass on the face of the receiver?…

Or when an NFL defender could recover a fumble without the entire defense then running to the opposite end zone to do a choreographed dance number 😒

It all has consequences, and we are seeing those consequences play out before our eyes in real time. Ours is the sport (and high school is the level) where you see players outright attacking refs on the field when things don’t go their way!

I, at least, am not OK with this sport I love so much being the most classless of all sports (it didn’t use to be… and I hope and pray the culture changes, top to bottom 😢)
