Hash Browns vs Potato Chips

If my wife walks out and sees me eating my breakfast including hash browns she doesn’t even blink. But the other day I was eating the exact same breakfast replacing the hash browns with a handful of chips on my plate. I was ridiculed the rest of the day.

It’s the same damn thing!!!!!!!!! It’s a crispy freakin potato. It’s not like I was eating Cheetos and Milk Duds or something. That’s all.

Lutheran North 47 SWMO Ava 6 - Class 2 Game

What are you guys score predictions??

I predict a hard fought game by both teams with good sportsmanship and respect for the game!!

But in the End I think that the Powerhouse undefeated STL team will edge out the Powerhouse Undefeated SWMO team Ava by a score of 47 - 6 (LN will probably block the extra point)

Prepcasts.com is gonna broadcast the audio of the game!!

Good Luck to both teams!!

Festus job open

(FESTUS) Festus R-6 Varsity Head Football Coach Russ Schmidt has submitted his resignation to the Board of Education, ending his 13-year tenure as the face and the voice of the football program.

A press release from the district reads,

“There is no question that Coach Schmidt cared deeply about every student-athlete and routinely had players immersed in community service projects. Coach Schmidt also made sure teachers received recognition for their work with student-athletes. The football team’s “Teacher of the Week Award,” started by Coach Schmidt, shined the spotlight on teachers the players chose as ones who are making a difference in the lives of students. The District appreciates the hard work and labor that Coach Schmidt put forth on behalf of the program the past 13 years. The search for a new football coach will commence in early December with the goal of having a recommendation to submit for approval at the February Board of Education meeting.”

Let's Break Down the Candidates

In lieu of Mizzou moving on from Barry Odom, who are the possible candidates.

Some people will point to the bowl ban and scholarship reduction, but a coach with any amount of foresight should realize this is an opportunity to coach SEC football as the only D1 school in a state with two large talent rich (well at least St. Louis is) metropolitan areas to recruit from. Find the right guy and this could be a great job.

STLFTBL rant on the State of Missouri High School Football

Looks like the top football is played in the Southwest area of the state. Joplin finished as Class 6 runner up and then you have Carthage, Webb City, Cassville and Ava playing for titles this weekend. St. Louis only has left besides state champion DeSmet is Lutheran North. Southeast Missouri has Valle and Jackson left. KC, I will give them Odessa and Platte County. Lincoln I will say is from Central Missouri.

I can speak for the St. Louis area, as the only teams that have won and has a chance to win are our Private Schools who are like Select teams, as they get players from all over STL area. That is why the public schools in St. Louis and even St. Charles are at a great disadvantage, as they are going up against All-Star teams. Now, I can go either way on this topic, as some of our public schools in STL fail our kids academically, so I know these kids are in a better place for both education and sports. But I think we have reached a point where we need to go to separate Public and Private schools for the sports. I would have loved to see a Private school football tournament where a Lutheran North would have played CBC and DeSmet to see where they stack up. You could place all Private and Charter Schools into one bracket (Any school where the students are not bound by specific border boundaries for attendance) and place all true public schools into five classes, starting with 64 teams in the largest class and having the smallest class as the catch all.

I know we get tired of all of these Public vs Private school debates, but a team like Lutheran North, who could possibly be the best team in the STL area besides East St. Louis who resides on the Illinois side of the river, playing for the Class 2 title is somewhat of a joke. And to even think that Cardinal Ritter, who actually beat Lutheran North is also in Class 2 (no Ritter is another entire topic), there is something wrong with the playoff system. The new system coming will not solve the problem.

And to make myself sound crazy, I will be rooting for North to win this weekend as I support the STL teams, but I do not think it is right.

What's on the line for each program at the Show-Me Bowl.

8-Man: Mound City won its 8th state title in program history.

Class 6: DeSmet won its 2nd state title in program history.

Class 1: Valle Catholic looks to win its 15th state title in program history, and Lincoln looks to win its 1st.

Class 2: Lutheran North looks to win its 6th state title in program history, and Ava looks to win its 1st.

Class 3: Cassville looks to win its 3rd state title in program history, and Odessa looks to win its 2nd.

Class 4: Webb City looks to win its 15th state title in program history, and Platte County looks to win its 4th.

Class 5: Carthage looks to win its 1st state title in program history, and Jackson looks to win its 1st.

2019 DeSmet vs Best MO Teams Last 10 Years (Calpreps)

One of the more popular Threads from last week is best teams from the Decade were of course people started to bring in teams NOT in the last 10 years

Got me thinking how would DeSmet from this year match up with some of the all time MO Teams.

According to Calpreps:

2019 DeSmet vs

2018 CBC = 36 to 35 CBC wins
2017 CBC = 31 to 24 DeSmet wins
2015 Webb City = 28 to 17 DeSmet wins
2015 BS South = 31 to 21 DeSmet wins
2014 Webb City = 28 to 24 DeSmet wins
2013 Blue Springs = 27 to 22 BS wins
2013 Lee's Summit West = 31 to 26 DeSmet wins
2012 Blue Springs = 35 to 28 Desmet wins
2010 Rockhurst = 21 to 14 DeSmet wins

I think most have the 2013 Blue Springs and 2018 CBC as the 2 best teams this Decade.

Calpreps:

2018 CBC 36 2013 Blue Springs 35.

2019 DeSmet may just be the 3rd best team the last decade.
