2019 DeSmet vs Best MO Teams Last 10 Years (Calpreps)

One of the more popular Threads from last week is best teams from the Decade were of course people started to bring in teams NOT in the last 10 years

Got me thinking how would DeSmet from this year match up with some of the all time MO Teams.

According to Calpreps:

2019 DeSmet vs

2018 CBC = 36 to 35 CBC wins
2017 CBC = 31 to 24 DeSmet wins
2015 Webb City = 28 to 17 DeSmet wins
2015 BS South = 31 to 21 DeSmet wins
2014 Webb City = 28 to 24 DeSmet wins
2013 Blue Springs = 27 to 22 BS wins
2013 Lee's Summit West = 31 to 26 DeSmet wins
2012 Blue Springs = 35 to 28 Desmet wins
2010 Rockhurst = 21 to 14 DeSmet wins

I think most have the 2013 Blue Springs and 2018 CBC as the 2 best teams this Decade.

Calpreps:

2018 CBC 36 2013 Blue Springs 35.

2019 DeSmet may just be the 3rd best team the last decade.

DeSmet LOCK 35-20 Joplin Falling apart.

LETS SIMMER DOWN

The true “Upset” was even looked at as a Close one Carthage/FZN

Webb was the overwhelming favorite at Home vs Ladue

Trinity, without their top 3 offensive weapons and playing underclassmen, has had trouble scoring 30 points all year. They weren’t gonna beat Cassville.

DeSmet and Lutheran North were wire-to-wire #1 in class rankings and are/was LOCKS.

good Competitive games across the board just a shame KC cant join in on the fun

Cassville vs Trinity

Should be a good game. The folks, in other threads, that said Trinity was a lock, have no clue. Now, they could very well win, but to discount the Wildcats, like that, is a mistake.
I think the bigger question is can Trinity handle the disciplined aggression of Cassville. The Wildcats are going to hit you in the mouth. They will be clean and will line up and do it again.

Glendale/Springfield fans

I have been reading the post on facebook all week about this game and I have to tell you, Springfield fans have gone crazy over this "no" call. I understand the concern for this young man, and I hope he makes a full recovery, nobody likes to end thier season like that. You never want to see that. However after watching the video the tackle does not look like an intentional cheap shot as the snooze leader and Glendale fans are saying. Sure maybe they could have thrown a flag but really looks like a good no call to me. but go out to facebook and the Glendale fans have gone crazy over this, funny thing @BoosterBosko even the Carthage booster club has weighed in on facebook about this call. So what do others think, was this a blatant attempt by Carthage to harm this kid as the Glendale fans believe, or was this just a missed call, or a good no call? Even a Mauk has weighed in on the controversy on facebook.

Warren Sinking Like a Stone

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is sinking like a rock in the latest national Democratic presidential primary polls -- a development that comes amid sustained criticism over the details of her "Medicare-for-all" plan.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows the populist liberal senator’s numbers slashed in half from 28 percent to 14 percent from the month before. After leading the pack in Quinnipiac’s October poll – which was seen as a sign of her surge in the race – Warren’s 14-point drop has her now in third place behind former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Another national poll from CNN released Wednesday also shows Warren in third place with 14 percent support, behind Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. That poll reflects a 5-point drop for Warren from CNN's October survey.

Warren has also seen a drop in support in polls from early voting states, like Iowa and New Hampshire, from October to November, as Buttigieg has risen.

As Fox News first reported, Warren earlier this month outlined a plan costing $52 trillion over the next decade, including $20 trillion in new spending -- covered largely by an array of taxes on corporations, the wealthy and employers in general.
But a recent study released by the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget declared it would be "impossible" to finance any such plan using only taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

The Wall Street Journal editorial board also challenged other calculations, especially her claim that the plan would translate to $20 trillion in additional spending, whereas other estimates for "Medicare-for-all" have put the cost roughly $10 trillion higher.

Polling shows it’s a tough sell: the Quinnipiac poll released this week indicated "Medicare-for-all" is getting more unpopular among American voters, with 36 percent saying it is a good idea and 52 percent saying it is a bad idea. That’s a drop in popularity from Quinnipiac’s March 26 poll showing 43 percent favorable, and 45 percent unfavorable.

Sanders, the Democratic socialist running for president, also supports “Medicare-for-all” but unlike Warren has acknowledged the plan would raise taxes on the middle class. Sanders argues it would lower the cost of health care for most Americans.

Warren herself refused to back down on her claims.

“It doesn’t raise taxes on anybody but billionaires,” Warren told reporters in Iowa earlier this month. “And you know what, the billionaires can afford it, and I don’t call them middle class.”

Predictions for Classes 4 through 6.

4 PLAYOFFS
Ladue 31 Liberty 7
Farmington 28 St. Mary's 19
Platte County 27 Grain Valley 14
Camdenton 27 Webb 26 (Webb fumbles the ball 6 times --4 turnovers in the red zone)

5 PLAYOFFS
Staley 27 Raytown 22 (Staley inflicts PAIN.)
Carthage 49 Glendale 10 (Glendale is from Springfield.)
Chaminade 41 Fort Zum North 40 (It comes down to three overtimes.)
Jackson 24 Eureka 23

6 PLAYOFFS
De Smet Jesuit 35 Raymore-Peculiar 34 (We marvel at the superiority of all the D1 athletes as they eke out a one point win.)
Fort Zumwalt West 23 Joplin 22 (Joplin fumbles 5 times)

If only those Southwest teams could hold on to the ball, they would have no more excuses.

Video of the DeSmet player that was DQ'd for throwing a punch, and will have to sit out title game.

In the video the foul takes place on the No. 5 of the 50 yard line. It is the left DE for DeSmet. I have a couple of questions.
1. Where was the illegal hands to the face call on the offensive player for Ray-Pec?
2. Was it even a punch, or was it an effort to get the guys hands off of him after having his head pushed back?
3. With all the video available at HS games these days should MSHSAA hear appeals to be able to make a judgement on whether a player has to miss playing in a state championship game? The official clearly missed the hands to the face call. Could he have interpreted what the thought was an open handed punch as the kid just trying to push a guys hands out of his face?
