Rockhurst...is their time kind of over?

They have been runner-up two times in the past decade.

Was it the rise of Bishop Miege? Aquinas taking too many? St. James? The complete blowup of the Blue Valley school district, where the average income is higher in five of their high schools than any place in the metro?

Suddently, going to Rock is kind of "meh!"

Used NIKE Uniforms for sale

I know budgets are tight, we have a large set of Black and White Nike Uniforms that are going to be sold or thrown away. Still in good shape, only markings of our school is an small O on the little spot on the neck, nothing else says a mascot or school name anywhere. $10 a jersey. Might be a good set for a lower level that is wearing rough stuff. Figured I would post before we get rid of them. If at all interested shoot me an email. gengem@msdr9.org

Lamar football history question

Looking for someone who has Lamar football history for the 1962 season.
Been working on a research project for several years and ran into a missing score.
I am compiling every score of every game in the history of Carl Junction football.
I am missing the November 2, 1962 CJ at Lamar game. Lamar won, but cannot find the score. Have been on the Joplin Globe microfilm at the Joplin Public Library and on Newspaper Archives and the Saturday, November 3, 1962 edition is missing on both mediums.
Any help would be appreciated.
Once this score and one more from the 1960 season is found, I will have every score of every game from 1960-present.
I have found scores as early as 1922, but I’m missing much of the 30’s and 40’s. Have some years from the 50’s done already and will knock out that decade before I move into the 40’s.

New Season, live scoreboard, ready to go.

Last year I put together a site that had all of the football games live scoreboard data (powered by scorstream) all in 1 place on Blue Monkey Online I have updated the dates and any changes in classifications will be altered after MSHSSA releases class and district assignments.
As always, you can help power the site and support others across the state by if you know a score that is not being updated in the scorestream app please do so. The site is only as useful as the reporting done across the state by individuals at events.

Impact of the class 1 cap

First, I think Mshsaa got the numbers for class 2-5 wrong. I removed all schools moving to 8 man, added the Clayton/Brentwood co-op and add Pleasant Hope and KC Kipp, who appear to have varsity schedules. That equaled 308 schools. With class 6 at 42, class 1 at 36, class 2-5 averages out to 57/58 per class. So either Mshsaa is flat out lying or they know of 10 schools not playing 11 man next season.

Second, you'll notice enrollment #s are different for public and charter schools. I pulled those from DESE. They are the current 9th thru 11th grade classes currently being reported.

Third, you will also notice it will cause private schools to bump in classes as well. For example, you will find Lutheran North in class 4.

Trade deadline

I’m sure I’m in the minority. But I wouldn’t trade Donovan, O’Neill, Noot, Edman, Gorman, Arenado or Hicks. But everyone else is available for the right price.

Including Walker, who isn’t going to be a good defensive outfielder EVER. You don’t learn to play defense in the majors. If you can package him for a great pitcher, do it. Same with Winn. So tired of overvaluing prospects. Right Carlson! At one point we could have packaged Reyes and Carson Kelly for an All-Star starting pitcher. What a choke. But but but Reyes is the #1 prospect in all of baseball. How did that turn out?

They need to sell high.

I took a lot of heat on this board for ripping on Matheny back when the Cardinals were winning. How’d his career turn out? I was called Mr Negative when I was demanding they stop playing Pete Kozma when the cardinals were winning games. Where did he end up? I could go on and on.

Cardinals fans are far too tolerant. Major blunders are made and 3 million people keeping pouring thru the turnstiles.

Consequences of the 2024 election

Here is a free article detailing the GOP plan for 2025. It’s not a “liberal message” it’s what they are admitting to. Whether it’s Trump or DeSantis or someone else, the Heritage Foundation is all about restructuring the government to give the president total control over the executive branch. A one man deregulation machine.

The FCC, the EPA, the CDC, you name it. The president will be able to hire, fire, change or eliminate policy without regard for precedent nor tradition. They seek a truly authoritarian chokehold on our government.
