Surprise of the Night?

Willard is BAD
And Glendales best returning player transferred in the offseason so not surprised by those outcomes.
Glendale on their 3rd coach in 3 years doesn’t help either.

I figured neosho and ozark would both roll, but not necessarily because they’re both good.
Pretty accurate. I think Ozark is better, just not sure how much better. Should get a decent gauge next week at Carthage.

Neosho needs to figure out how to at least be more than a speed bump defensively. If they can do that, they could creep to the upper half of the conference.

MICDS at Hillsboro Score?

MICDS was given the option earlier Friday morning to simply move the game to Saturday Evening, so weather would not be an issue. They wanted to play tonight. When the game was delayed they were told again that we had officials for Saturday to finish the game. Hillsboro Coaches and administration were told that they would have starters not available to play Saturday. Not much else to it.
Tough $h!t. If you can’t finish the game because you have a chess tournament or a date on Saturday then you can forfeit.

Not a good look for Bouchard

All the new teams in the coc are getting a " welcome to the COC curb stomping "

No shame for WP there: Mountain Home is on my AR championship watch list...............
I watched the first half of that game last night. It’s on YouTube from both WP & MH broadcasting groups.

WP was bigger, but MH was faster, and really kicked WP tail in the trenches. The first quarter and a half was ugly for both teams. Both lost a fumble and both threw a pick. But MH righted the ship after that.
WP conditioning didn’t look that great and their OL looked terrible or maybe MH DL was just that good.
they just didn’t look ready for MH at all.

I had picked WP to lose this game by 2 TDs so I’m not surprised by the outcome.

Ary had mentioned in the preseason that this may be the best group he’s had since he’s been at MH. Their season have ended at the hands of Greenwood the last 2-3 years and they’re pretty much the Webb City of Arkansas as far as success goes.

This will be a good game for both MH/WP to have. It’s the shortest trip of the year for both schools since they’re both in what would be considered BFE in their state LOL

Not shocked that Glendale and Waynesville got blown out.

Joplin must have righted the ship because I think the last update I got, Poo was winning that game in the 2Q

Parkview must be world record bad to get shut out by Marshfield (the blue jays will probably finish last in the OMC)

I was surprised Bolivar got turboed. Was not expecting that at all.

Nodaway Valley

I have seen programs go from 30+ players in one year to less than 20 in another year. That is why enrollment should be used. You can’t have number of players deciding whether a team SHOULD be 8-man. Moving up and down based on number of players would be a disaster. It would be a problem not only for that program, but also for every team they scheduled with. And then trying to schedule games in the future would be a nightmare. So it’s time to stop complaining about number of players on an 8-man roster.

Unless you are an old man who just likes to yell at clouds because that is just as useful.

I wonder if your tune would have been the same 15 years ago when the whole GRC was still 11 man. Back when the GRC was relevant.

Surprise of the Night?

Ozark and Neosho both won by a landslide. I picked both of them to win but wasn’t necessarily expecting them to dominate. The rest of the COC went exactly as I expected.

Kearney 21, Fort Osage 0 Final

Came away from this one with very mixed feelings will get into later..................off to Pick Em for now.
Week 3 Platte County and that spread offense with a now experienced big time QB will be Fort's real test moving forward.

Kearney does not play the Pirates so not really sure where the test for their D will come unless possibly Park Hill Week 4. They literally do not have one experienced, top notch QB on the 2024 schedule we shall see how that plays in November I suppose.

Overall nearly impossible to gauge any team after just one week. Issue moving forward for Fort has been hit on time and again tonight (RB Peppers availability). For Kearney, again just off one game, I was not expecting them to be so run heavy. Passing never seemed in sync at all again could be the opponent and the O Line was inconsistent but some of that was sheer numbers i.e. Fort loading the box.

Given the caliber of both programs and their recent resumes this could well have been a heavyweight bout ala 2009. At times I told friends at the game it felt that way.................

Nodaway Valley

West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt co-op for 8 man

They have 36 players on the roster and in their team photo.

I sure hope this doesn’t become commonplace for 8 man. Both of these schools have been 8 man since it’s inception if I’m not mistaken but come on now
