Webb City 42 Ctown 28 Final !!

I honestly don't think some get it, all the perennial powers of public schools have not just a good or great HS coach, they have well run youth programs that the community supports. Webb has a community buy in at every age group, Kearney youth program is one of if not the best in the area. Hell KCYFL does scheduling by coach and not by team classification because some youth coaches take B teams and beat A teams with them consistently. Now to look at it the other way you can't have a very successful youth program without a half ass decent HS system and coach because kids need to have someone to look up to and though some don't realize it kids look up to the HS Players and want to be like them. Same for HS coaches kids hear and see good things and want to play for those coaches. JRod being one of the best at it.
I stopped trying to explain this to people a long time ago. If you haven’t been close to it/ lived it, they will never understand.

BO vs Hallsville

Not really a legitimate argument against what he argued. Getting a division one athlete at a Blair Oaks sized school is near impossible. That does not mean that they do not have better athletes than 90% of their competition (which they do). Great coaching is what gets them the other 10%. To say it's because of coaching that they blow out Boonville, for example, is comical. They win by 30 because of the athletes but win by 45 because they are coached better than the other team. It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmys and Joes. That's just the reality of it and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
I agree with a lot of this to an extent. I do think they have better athletes than most of the conference schools on a yearly basis, but a lot of that comes from development too. They don't play in the same youth league as most of the other conference schools, but other schools go undefeated in 7th and 8th grade and then are below .500 when they are juniors and seniors. I know all kids develop differently so you can't go off of MS necessarily but other schools do have talent, they just lose kids to a lot of different reasons. There are way too many coaches that don't focus on their Freshman and JV so their kids don't develop like they should.

I personally think coaching makes a lot bigger difference than 10%. BO was not more talented than Lutheran North or Cardinal Ritter in years past. They just flat out outcoached those guys. I watched SoBo give Trinity Catholic all they wanted in 18 when they had no business staying within 50 of those guys, but the SoBo staff outcoached Trinity and made it a game. Coach LePage had a great staff when he came back to BO, some of those guys have retired, but he still has a lot of quality assistant coaches and I think that part gets overlooked in football way too much. When Coach Walker was at BO he had a great staff. He brought some former coaches/players from JC with him, also had Coach Duke on staff, who might have Tipton in a title game this year. So they have been very fortunate to have some really good coaches through the years.

As I've stated before, there are so many things that have gone in to the sustained success at BO, but Dr. Jones and Coach Lepage are at the top of that list. IMO if he hadn't left he would probably have 9-10 Titles. There has been one coach that won a title not named LePage, and that was the year after he left the first time.

Yeah, that’s the point, son. If we had two ringers on the dline we would give that oline of yours way more fits and those plays don’t work, then our offense would have done what it does with time to throw and we would have been up something like 21/28-0 at half. Its unreal the ego of you north of north KC, salt of the earth folks.

Ahh yes the ol'starts with the youth argument. Sorry man, I know that does help. But it's not 1998 anymore. A lot of schools have adopted the exact same programs. Information is out there at the finger tips of anybody that wants it. A lot of schools have very supportive communities and admin. It's all about the Jimmy & Joes and how they keep producing them. I can safely assume Blair Oaks works very hard to have success across the board. But assuming they just somehow work harder than every other Class 3 or 2 program is comical. A lot of schools just don't have the dudes. Park Hills Central was the prime example of that. The coaching staff had been together a long time, running the same program, before they finally broke through with some superb athletes at the same time(Great Coaching + Great Athletes). That is not uncommon at public schools. What is uncommon, is producing top tier athletes across the board every year. I was just curious as an outsider how that happens.
Only way you get better in football is technique, bigger, stronger and faster. I guess they do it the right way then.

Curious, what is the best game to pay for this Friday and Saturday?

Chance Wistrom, the older brother of Grant and Tracey, was head coach at Seneca at that time. Tracey was drafted in the spring 2002 NFL Draft as a tight end out of Nebraska by Tampa Bay.
Been a loooooong time all of a sudden, thanks. Dad and I were down at Webb City for the C4 semi the day Platte County beat Seneca they kept announcing the score said a Wistrom was HC all this fuzzy memory can bring back now LOL.
