Carthage Jon Guidie suspended?

The assistant is not pressing charges. It seemed like the whole thing was settled, apologies were made, things were good. Someone told Mommy & Daddy, Mommy & Daddy have an ax to grind with Guidie, they go to high school administration or the AD or hell even the super, I don’t know. The whole thing is asinine.
In some towns, folks with an ax to grind go to the booster club. NOT the school administration and/or AD. Because folks know where the real power lies...

Kearney 38, Smithville 14 FINAL

From Sep 12, 2023 thanks to the Smithtroll, OklahomaDriller (whearabouts uknown) who disappeared November, 2023.

"You all knew that I would have a post about the Smithville vs Kearney game this last Friday, but I waited a bit to decide what to post. Instead of running my mouth and saying that Smithville would be a shoe-in as state champs because they have track speed, I admitted that we had a lot of new starters. On paper, Kearney was certainly one of the favorites going into the season this year. Now that we are three weeks into the season, they are trying to recover from injuries and Joey "Super Fan" is making all sorts of excuses. There is no doubt that Kearney has a ton of talent. However, the days of Tommy Saunders and Brock Christopher are over. We are now in a new era where Smithville is the "big brother" and Kearney is the little "brother". The big reason for the change is the change in culture for the Smithville football program from the youth organization to the High School coaches. As long as Smithville continues to keep the current coaching staff they currently have in place, you will continue to see Smithville win these match-ups even when Kearney has superior talent. In years like 2020 through 2022 where Smithville had superior talent and coaching, you will see auto-clock victories like we have seen in the recent past. I know there are several Kearney fans on here that post, and I appreciate their perspective. However, we have to hear from Joey time and time again just to hear excuses about turnovers and 100M dash times. Someday Kearney may be back on top, but by that time they may be class 5, and their window to win a state championship at class 4 will be over. With all the other talented teams at class 5, I don't see Kearney beating teams like Webb City, St. Mary's or Cardinal Ritter. Better hope some other schools start offering Smithville coaches high paying positions, or Coach Ambroson moves on to college. Until that happens, we can get used to the type of results we saw last Friday."

I see the JR QB3 from last year played most of the GView game last week. Is the SOPH out or am I supposed to ask?

SV trouble moving the ball on Liberty and BSS at the jamboree. K defense is more dynamic than either of them, so we shall see.
I saw Liberty firsthand last Friday night did not do summary/comment here honestly due to it being a pretty vanilla regular season one but was nice to see the Jays break through vs. the defending champs. I would agree K's D is quite a bit faster, more athletic and disciplined at least from what I've seen in person.

Love to see them playing that "fist" D former coach Gray referred to during the best Jones years. The LB speed, though, I have never seen as a unit like this and been watching KMO games since the 70s!

I think the #Hashtag is a bit uncalled for considering he got to hang it up HS coaching while coaching his son plus kids he was around with his son. He's a good man, coach, and friend to many! He looks to be enjoying his start at William Jewell HC.
1-0 thus far. Hosting S&T (what they call Rolla these days) Oct 19 but it is Homecoming. May pop over for that one anyway haven't been to a Miners game in forever and a day!

CMAC Week 3

Joe might be on to something here. All due respect to the good people associated with the Branson football program, but if they're anywhere close to turbo'ing you...well, you might have some issues.

I did hear there were some unique scenarios that lead them to the outcome, but man, still it's Branson v Camdenton.
Yeah, I heard something about the starting qb being out for a couple of series due to his knee brace breaking or something like that.

It's sad what the Globe has become. I'm old school, I like to hold the paper, turn the pages and do the crossword. But based on the current state of the newspaper, I'll be done when the current subscription runs out in December. At $111/quarter, it's just not worth it and that's not a great situation.

It's been a point of frustration for guys like Anvil and I who are still doing research and records projects on numerous teams/programs/schools. When they quit running football box scores, basketball box scores, softball/baseball linescores ... pretty much eliminating the agate page, it was frustrating. Now we will never know if anyone will ever have complete records for various programs ... and I'm not even talking about individual stats, just simple team W-L records, opponents, dates, locations, etc.

Wendell Redden, Anvil, Henry and Fryar all stressed the importance of tracking down every score of every game in our area to make sure we had at least every score so we could do league standings during the week. Knowing the effort is all for naught now, it makes me wonder if anyone cares anymore.

Another point of emphasis was making sure to spell every name right, no mom wanted to ever clip a box score of her son's 25-point game only to have his name spelled wrong. It's funny to me to this day because names like VanBecelaere (St. Mary's-Colgan) and Rosewicz (Cassville) were so easy to spell because we memorized them.

I think its a direct reflection on the current state of local sports media product in the greater Joplin area ... I don't think I can recall a time where sports media coverage is as bad as it is right now. The local TV guys cannot pronounce towns or names correctly, graphics have so many errors and the highlight shows on Friday night have become so rushed to produce, the quality has suffered dramatically. I don't fault the effort, it just leaves a lot to be desired.

Myself and several former sports writers got a good hardy laugh at the Joplin Globe when it was promoting its special football section featuring 16 teams. I had to laugh because I can remember years where I wrote 11 preview stories on the Big 8 Conference alone and then still had to write previews teams in the SEK and CNC in Southeast Kansas. I wrote more stories for the football preview in one year than the Globe did this year.

Spoke to Anvil Welch the other day (he is doing well and told me to tell everyone he said hello) and he let out a good laugh when I told him about the Globe and its 16 team preview.
