Does Nixa have a chance in Class 6

I've always thought it was strange that a SWMO school would be satisfied with being Class 6. That size school just seems geographically-out-of-place in the region. To fit in, once you got that big in enrollment, it'd almost seem better to split the institution into two. You'd be more similar to your neighbors with Class 3, 4, or 5, and you'd most likely be in a district that is more local as well. Yes, I know budget-wise it isn't easy to just go and build a second building (although Joplin had a wonderful opportunity to do so in 2011). Anyways, I guess it is what it is.

What Highschool Football programs have the most wins in history for State of Missouri

Interesting, how did they come up with these numbers did somebody turn them in to somebody or did the site actually do the research?

Great question, I was curious myself ... especially since I am in the middle of a research project on Carl Junction football. I have every score, opponent, date and location of every Carl Junction game from 1920-present.

I have been working on 1910-1919 ... found some scores from 1916 and 1917, but a lot of gaps still to fill. The hard part was trying to find the year Carl Junction started a high school. Earlier this fall, had a breakthrough as a resident of the community showed me a graduation announcement from 1903, she said it was from the first ever graduation class from Carl Junction High School. Which means the earliest possible football team they could have had was fall of 1902. Working toward filling in the gap from 1902-1920.

Anvil Welch has been a HUGE help, he has kept team records for football, basketball and baseball in Southwest Missouri since his days at the Springfield News Leader back in the 1960's. He has records from high schools that don't even exist today. He still works on his records daily and is not afraid to call schools and coaches to pick their brains about teams, records and anything sports related.

A few years back (2013), was able to help my alma mater Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville uncover a record book from the school vault that had every head coach and team record for football since the start of the program in 1899. I'm working on the baseball records for Field Kindley now.

Smithville 9-2 Vs Kearney 10-0 Championship, Rivalry and rematch (Next) week

He had three good classes.

"You all knew that I would have a post about the Smithville vs Kearney game this last Friday, but I waited a bit to decide what to post. Instead of running my mouth and saying that Smithville would be a shoe-in as state champs because they have track speed, I admitted that we had a lot of new starters. On paper, Kearney was certainly one of the favorites going into the season this year. Now that we are three weeks into the season, they are trying to recover from injuries and Joey "Super Fan" is making all sorts of excuses. There is no doubt that Kearney has a ton of talent. However, the days of Tommy Saunders and Brock Christopher are over. We are now in a new era where Smithville is the "big brother" and Kearney is the little "brother". The big reason for the change is the change in culture for the Smithville football program from the youth organization to the High School coaches. As long as Smithville continues to keep the current coaching staff they currently have in place, you will continue to see Smithville win these match-ups even when Kearney has superior talent. In years like 2020 through 2022 where Smithville had superior talent and coaching, you will see auto-clock victories like we have seen in the recent past. I know there are several Kearney fans on here that post, and I appreciate their perspective. However, we have to hear from Joey time and time again just to hear excuses about turnovers and 100M dash times. Someday Kearney may be back on top, but by that time they may be class 5, and their window to win a state championship at class 4 will be over. With all the other talented teams at class 5, I don't see Kearney beating teams like Webb City, St. Mary's or Cardinal Ritter. Better hope some other schools start offering Smithville coaches high paying positions, or Coach Ambroson moves on to college. Until that happens, we can get used to the type of results we saw last Friday."

I guess he didn't pay attention to home many key starters for Kearney were out of the game. He found out in November. But I was "just making excuses," right? Now he is all about Jimmy's and Joes. Bahaha
Joey stop quoting your owns posts.
You are one pathetic loser.

I have watched Ambroson's teams from the time he took over a moribund football program at Moberly. He raised it from the ashes by treating every Friday night as a learning opportunity. I always enjoyed listening to his comments on KRES radio every Friday night as I drove home from whatever game I had attended. He never made excuses for their shortcomings and was always complimentary of the things his kids did well and promised improvement in the areas they didn't measure up in. It was a slow build but I admired his dedication to his mission. I knew Smithville had struck gold when I heard they had hired him. But, Top, I'm still amazed at how competitive he has the Jewell program in such a short time. Happy for him and Jewell!
I normally don't follow that level of College FB but yes he is already doing amazing. He is one of the most well spoken HCs I've ever heard, too. Definitely on par with the current MICDS coach our old familiar Dr. Fred B.

Kearney had two starting corners out in that game against Park Hill. They are back now. SV will suddenly go Air Coryell with the Beaver's breathing down their QB's neck? Reminder, they got 19 yards passing in Game 1. Gave up a Pick 6. QB rating was like 15.
What kind of beaver's we talking about?

does Bosko likey?

Why is Willard terrible?

Year round baseball and lots of good athletes only playing baseball and no other sport probably is a contributing factor in the last 15 years. Had lots of success in baseball
Copied so I think this is right. Baseball Final Fours '91, '03, '12, '13, '19, '21, '22 '24.
That Willard team about 5 years ago with that kid at RB who was an absolute tank would've made some noise had they not been in a district/conference with 2 state champs and a runner up that year.
And if we combine these arguments, Garrett Rice, who is the RB you’re talking about, was also a baseball player that started his post high school career by playing baseball at Mizzou. A lot of that Covid senior class that would have probably won state baseball were all two/three sport athletes. Coach McGee promotes it. Theyve had the athletes, but have had no success. Russell Roweton, their QB a few years back, was a stud and was surrounded by decent talent, but they most they ever won was 3-4 games a year.

And I’m just a COC fan that wants to talk about COC football other than Webb City, something that seems frowned upon apparently…

Coach Ambroson is one of the best in the business. However, there are only four or five teams in each class that have the athletes to win a state championship. That is where the coaching staff comes into play. It is about the players, and coach Ambroson had the ability to get the best athletes in the school playing football.

Why is Willard terrible?

Hear, hear!! I said that YEARS ago!!! You HAVE to start offering different flavors, toppings, sauces, etc. Do you think a player really wants to play for a program serving the same, boilerplate carnival-like funnel cakes? NO!
I remember in neosho years back at halftime they had a lot of food from sounded like a closed chineese resteraunt.

Why is Willard terrible?

This is a legitimate question that I can sort of piece together some answers to but am still at a loss for and would love to hear opinions of others…why is Willard so bad at football???

Over the years they’ve had some of the biggest bodies in the COC, I’m sure everyone can agree, and their skill players are never THAT bad. I can understand that their district probably refuses to spend the money on a good coach, but still, you’d think somewhere along the line they would be able to produce a team that had a good run. It looks like the best Willard has been was a few years in the mid 90s where they won like 6-7 games a year, and two seasons in the early 2010s where they couldn’t get out of districts. You’d like to think a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while but Willard may be the blindest, deafest, and dumbest squirrel that’s ever existed.
Their scheme hasn't exactly fit their personnel the last 3-4 yrs...but to be completely fair to anyone that has ever coached there, their "athletes" the last 3-4 yrs haven't been all that great or deep. They weren't exactly running a scheme that was built for those with lesser talent, which is what they've had.
