Tslking about "Chalk up the W for me" with your lame "I won the internet" ass. LOL. Tell you what, I will be in Columbia of Trinity makes it there and I will give you my seat number so I can say it in your face, if you happen to be there.
If Trinity is playing Cardinal Ritter, you won't have to give him your seat #. He can just go around and ask everybody until he finds you. Won't take long.

These games are apart of the MSHSSA football playoffs so with all the hate being shown I guess another reminder is in order:

The MSHSAA promotes the value of participation, sportsmanship, team play, and personal excellence to develop citizens who make positive contributions to their community and support the democratic principles of our state and nation.

That includes both players, officials, and yes FANS.

Good point, it was childish of me.

An Stl championship in Class 3 would make this board implode.

Bosko knows this from being a Booster club President for years. Butts in the seats is what makes games profitable, Fans spend money!! So without fans buying tickets and over priced sodas and hot dogs it is hard to make money.

So here is my point. I don't think it is any big secret that private schools don't have a large fan base that public schools do and they don't bring fans to the game.

So this year you already have Rockhurst Versus CBC two private schools, so I can guarantee you that those two schools will bring about half the crowd size of what a Joplin versus Blue Springs match up would have.

Now if Trinity and Cardinal Ritter also make it, wow you have another match up of two private schools who again probable will not put many butts in the stands. Again about half of what a MV Maryville match up would bring.

So maybe the more success private schools have it will make MSHSAA take notice not because they are winning but because of the money they are losing.

I can defenitely agree on those private schools especially with several factors involved but you also have other factors that would affect things:

A) Location - Columbia, if it was closer there might be a few more butts in seats.

B) Time - 2 of the games on a Friday, earliest being 3pm on a Friday
3 on Saturday with the earliest at 1pm.

C) Title chance - there are going to be a surge in the people that show up to support that school when its for a state title both public and private that have not followed or have not been to a game over the past several weeks.

Just commenting on the crowd thing. Several people said that Carthage fans outnumbered Chaminade fans by at least a 2:1 margin in spite of the nearly 5 hour drive. Carthage probably travels better than many but not like WC. On the video stream it looks like the host team had maybe 100 fans scattered across the small stadium. Reminded me of Carthage visitor stands when Ozark or Branson comes to town. Privates in general don't connect with the community as a whole so their fan base is limited. In addition, Chaminade is a boarding school so not all the students are from the area, some are out of state or even international and may not have family or friends come to watch. Totally different environment, but apparently fair competition nonetheless. :)

Youre darn right I know that!!! I've been the Ampipe Booster Club President for over 30 years! And if there is one thing I have learned, butts in the seats, is a monetary feat! And you better believe that I might have done some shady things in the past to get those butts in the seats!

Yeah that is why you don't see many large stadiums for private schools, they just don't need them. There is not that community connection to a private school like you see to a public so they don't have a diverse fan base. Which if they keep winning will be their downfall takes money to put on these championship games and when you don't bring fans that money is not going to be there.

A) Location, could be, but it is in the middle of the state, I have been to many games with public and private and even when it was in the privates own back yard the public school brought more fans.

B) Time, maybe but a town will shut down to go watch their school play in the championship game no matter the time. We had business actuality close up the doors when Monett played a few years ago in the championship game. You will not see that happen when a private school makes it.

C) I would be interested to see if the state has kept stats on crowd numbers over the years. I would love to see the actual numbers of crowd size from an all private championship game versus a public.

This thread needs a SERIOUS doc-guy jacking!

I tried to summon the leader by invoking his name in the thread. See if we can get Kane I will put out some sort of liquid offering.

We don't jack no threads, we just offer good sound advice.
I won two state titles for my public school.

Bosko has been saying that for years now. We Doc Guys dont hijack threads, we simply give sage advice and relate the original thread topic back to the ole glory days. Sadly, I dont have any ole glory days though lol

Only nightmare I’d have on MoSports would be = if NWalls returned to condescendingly beat his chest while posting his glowing Orchard Farm assistant coaching resume.

Again

What years was he coaching at Orchard Farm?

What if Maryville wins class 3 and Blair Oaks wins class 2. Does this mean the STL posters go nuts and since BO defeated Maryville week 1 they hence claim to both Class 2 and 3 (unofficially)? It can happen.

I love how some people cling to games played in August to prove they are better than other teams.. See Webb City v. Rock I So teams don't gel, improve, change, get better, or alter by the end of the season. We might as well play one game, and use Calpreps to computer model the whole season. Fire all the coaches. Save a hell of a lot of money.
