What are these schools doing different

....yep ...that's how Webb has won state 14 of the last 29 years . Straight up cheating. Steroids , illegal players , coaches who pay off refs , fake adresses , etc . It's a giant conspiracy. It had nothing to do with great coaching , Jerry Kill ? Cheater . Kurt Thompson ? Cheater . John Roderique ? Cheater . Webb has cheated for 3 decades and hasn't been caught . That's impressive......OR........they have kids that buy In and have triple the amount of players of like sized teams ...?

At Nixa tonight before the game they recognized their youth football players

This was the first year for their youth program,,,I can’t imagine kids not playing until junior high and then trying to match up to Webb’s kids who have been putting on pads since preschool :)

You're saying Nixa didn't have a youth football program???? Wow.....

The best way I have heard it put. Webb is a college program running in a class 4 high school. Nutrition, weight training, system, etc. emulates a college program. Youth program is really important. It has to be part of the program. Now I don’t think you have to run the same type stuff as high school but fundamentals and toughness are taught there. Pride discipline and representing your community. That all happens in youth. This is the only way a public school community can try and level the field with private talent.

I love how a simple post always have those one or two posters that try and turn it into bashing WEBB. I remember a cARTHAGE stud freshman inside linebacker, good kid, I believe it was in 02 they moved to WEBB. He became our punter so he could see the field. When I moved to WEBB in 85 I was amazed at how many people were at the games. We definately didn't see that in Pitt. First WEBB/CJ game I went to we stood 3 deep all they way around the track in CJ. Then came the bleacher creatures!! Hundreds of preteen kids wearing WEBB CITY Football shirts had their own bleachers behind the north endzone. Believe what you want, move ins, steroids whatever makes you happy. It's COMMUNITY! WEBB residents support not only Football but the schools as a whole incredibly. I've never seen a single bond issue in 30 years involving the school system from new library's to million+dollar football stadiums fail.

I can't vouch for every class that has ever come through Webb, but the teams that I played with I think there were 2 or maybe 3 people that came from other schools. Everyone else on the team was in the WC program from the 3rd grade. The guys in my senior class were the same guys I started playing with in the beginning more or less. I hear this a lot. That Webb pulls the talent from Joplin, CJ, and Carthage. But I would love to see people have some tangible evidence that this is happening. Unless they are pulling that talent in grade school I just don't see it.

It's hard to believe, but Webb's teams aren't typically the most talented on the field. In fact, most of the time, I would argue that they aren't the fastest, or have the best football IQ, or superior athletically. What all players are, that go through that program though, is well disciplined, coached, and focused. The coaching staff there demand perfection, and most of the time they get damn near close. To say that they are simply stealing athletes from the area and writing off their success that way is a slap in the face to the amount of effort and time each of those coaches and the community put into the kids that go through that program.

I know Javis Berlin moved from CJ to WC in 7th grade and the years he played in high school were the years CJ was competitive with WC.

Stirwalt and Cook both came from CJ (I think) in HS. No argument there, though how much "recruitment" happened is debatable. Wasn't Sossaman on the LLWS team when he was a kid for WC? Don't have any information on the rest. Where did they come from and what grade did they move?

No one is saying any of this is illegal. It just is an explanation for how WC never has bad classes like everyone else.

Geeze these days people move all of the time. None of these guys were great D1 players were they?

And I'm just arguing that it happens far less than people try to say it does. I'm clearly not going to change anyone's mind. If you think the sole reason that Webb is able to be as good as they are is by relying on recruiting talent from the area, then you enjoy your life. :)

Can’t wait for AD’s mom or Webbpa to stumble on this thread lol

Leaders that will not settle for subpar effort is where it starts. When success builds it's a snowball effect and it compounds over time and you have the result of these great teams. I'll use Webb as an example, the players know the expectations without ever being told. It's ingrained into the culture at Webb and no reason to think it will not continue. Webb has been beat and the year they had 4 losses, they lost a close one to the eventual state champion. Great effort and high expectations are requirements that won't shift with the wind like most towns. The roster does not dictate the planning and commitment to the upcoming season.

They have a good track record of using bond issues for what they are meant for and not funnel the funds to other things, which has helped build the public’s trust

That means nothing if you have classes with no athletes.

Lamar, Webb City, Valle Catholic what are they doing different than every other school in the state? How are they always contenders? Just curious since every school gets 15-18 year olds and only some schools have sustained success.

Recruiting!

You miss my point. Most schools have a class every once in a while with zero athletes.
Maybe at small schools but once you get to 4A you have enough players if they want to work hard and are well coached you should be able to put a good team on the field

Webb doesn't have down classes for some reason. Every other school has certain classes that no matter how much you coach them, they are just not athletic enough to do anything with. It is not statistically possible for them to never have a down class unless kids are moving there.

Top 5% in size in C4 every year. Easier to not have "down years."

CJ has 2 classes in high school right now with pretty much zero athletes.

No they dont, I bet they have 20 kids out for football in each class don’t they??? Heck they have a couple of young men in the sophomore class that are gigantic. Need to get them motivated to get in the weight room and working to get better. Don’t know if Bucky has the personality for it

Take a look at those programs' head coaches, including Maryville, then look at their social media. Now compare it to the "gurus" and "OGs" that promote themselves. There is a stark difference behind their reason and purpose for coaching compared to the majority of head coaches and the results speak for themselves, on and off the field.

It’s not recruiting when they show up on their own.
“If you build it they will come.”
Absolutely, that was my main point along with the fact that they will always be a big class 4 school because of the way their school district works. Definitely not saying Webb is doing anything wrong

It’s always going to be the same schools that are the largest and smallest in class size.
Look at Maryville and Blair Oaks.
