West Plains

Chaotic who would have thought West Plains would be playing for the district title this year after they way they started off the year.

They’ve definitely come a long way from their 11-8 record a mere month ago.

I don’t like them in this match up against Marshfield though, honestly. And I may very well be wrong, I figured they’d beat Hillcrest by 15 points or so and they ended up winning by 20ish but Hillcrest has digressed from the middle of the season.

Marshfield has been probably the most consistent Class 5 team in the area so they better bring their A game if they want to win.

I am picking West Plains in an upset. I don’t think Marshfield likes a physical game and I think West Plains will make it physical

It’ll definitely be interesting. Both teams went 5-1 in the OMC. West Plains won the tie breaker, but with it being the 21st century I’m sure they will be “co-champs”.

WP lost to Rog by 14 in conference play
Marshfield beat Rog by 6 in conference play
WP then beat Marshfield by 18 in conference play.

Earlier in the year Marshfield beat WP in a really close one in the Blue & Gold.

The WP win over Marshfield was at Home and the loss was a neutral site and this game will be played neutral.

Should be interesting at the least.

I think WP wins this one as well. Not that impressed with Marshfield this year.

I think they will win this one as well. Their bench has definitely deepened over the course of the year. Wish they would play more of the Jr. Willard girl. That girl has a great 3-Point shot. She average 22 points for jv and hardly ever gets any varsity playing time.

Helias Catholic could be a sleeper (like their boys who won their district at Rolla tonight). Schedule matters but I do concede a few of their top end losses were not close.

Helias has also has plenty of losses to mediocre teams. As much as I hate to say it with how critical I was with WP mid season, they’re playing their best basketball right now. I think them or Marshfield would be favored over Helias by 10-12 pts. Just my opinion though.

WP is really young. It kind of makes sense they would get better as the season goes along.

The only thing they’ve gotta worry about is inconsistency with how young they are, they’ve definitely came on as the season has stretched, but they’re also not playing as tough of a schedule as years past and aren’t as battle tested.

No playing Kickapoo, no playing Nixa 2-3 times a year(only played them once), no Cape Notre Dame

They did pick up RepMo, but I think we can agree RepMo isn’t what they used to be.

Well what a way to end the first season for the new coach. Being down by as many as 12 points in the 4th Q against a team you took to the woodshed a few weeks ago and ultimately losing the district championship.

she’s no Womack

Basketball is just that way. Parkview boys beat Webb 70-37 a few weeks ago and only led by 1 possession with 3 minutes to go last night

Dont need to be too hard on the team or the coach. Marshfield is pretty good and are coached well. Yes, WP did beat them a few weeks ago but also, remember the Lady Jays won the first meeting between the two. Maybe not a great year, compared to standards of the past, but Zizzers are still pretty good and will be again next year.

I hope your right about the freshman from Thayer. She wasn’t even one of the two best players at Thayer so it’s hard to imagine she would have a too much of an impact at WP but who knows. WP graduated a 4 year starter and probably the best ball handler/passer they’ve had in quite awhile and both are playing in college now.

For the sake of the program, I hope they do well, but for the sake of the people who wanted Womack out, I wouldn’t feel too awful if they just fell flat on their face.

I’ll be interested to see how they handle things defensively. for more visit https://easyfontgenerator.com/
The team is making some changes under the new coach, possibly to focus on different competition or opportunities for growth. While it’s disappointing to see the Nixa Tournament replaced, the St. Joe Shootout could offer new challenges that the coach feels will benefit the team.

West Plains has now replaced all 3 major coaches at the school in the last year. I know the boys basketball coach has a variety of opinions out there on him, but he was basically replaced without anyone even talking to him and an administrator was put in as the new Boys bball head coach while not even giving anyone else any consideration. People are growing more and more discontent.

Preaching to the choir, Tad.
Things are not right in WP.
The programs will probably continue to be relatively successful but mishandling of coaches and a complete lack of trust with the newer AD has played a big part in this.
This is why you don’t make someone an AD without them being a head coach at some point.

The current AD was an assistant coach for a few of the “minor” sports, maybe just one sport, and to my knowledge she didn’t even attend practices. Was just more of a secretary of sorts.

And then throw in her(the ADs) mother being made school board president and now the train is off the tracks.

You gotta love a little nepotism here and there.

On the flip side, a half eaten tuna sandwich would be a better coach than the boys coach that just got replaced. I’ve never seen a coach that incompetent at a good size school. It was laughable listening to his huddles. Literally no idea what he was doing.
