Commence at 6 PM with Nixa hosting Rockhurst. 630 Lafayette at SLUH followed by the other two (FZ North vs. Chaminade at JB and Oak Park at Blue Springs South) tipping at 7.
Went through all eight's schedules and found a rare anomaly that NONE of these teams facing off tonight played each other in the regular season. Here are quick, high level synopses with my picks:
Wildwood Lafayette at SLUH: Quite the athletics year in Wildwood as FB upset almighty private Cardinal Ritter now BB reaches this level! A battle of two unexpected, near .500 teams so God knows who wins but my old schedule matters philosophy may kick in here I will take the Jr. Bills in a real tight one.
Fort Zumwalt North vs. Chaminade @ John Burroughs: This one, on paper, looks way easy. Red Devils should be able to pretty much name their score in this one vs. another very unexpected STL metro quarter entrant. 10 losses vs. as National a schedule as you will ever see a Show Me State team face. Chaminade should way easily make the C6 final for a second consecutive year.
Rockhurst at Nixa: Intersectional apples vs. oranges. Both won out of state tourneys (Nixa two of them) and sport top records but I do wonder how Rock will react to what will be a long bus ride followed by as raucous a venue as exists in all MO. Eagles had two "head scratcher" losses but swept their very strong league and doubled up on renowned MO power Kickapoo albeit on a last second shot Monday evening. The Hawklets are a near impossible read but what does concern me is how they were owned in a similar road situation at Oak Park and blown out by NKC. Let the private vs. public battle rage on I will take Nixa in this one perhaps by a surprising double digit margin.
Oak Park at Blue Springs South: The Jags are the DEFINITION of inconsistent and will need their best effort and then some to hang with my other C6 final favorite the uber-consistent Northmen who enter with a resume similar to Chaminade (have had this pegged as the final since December) but let's not even go there until that verifies. Oak Park is also on a major mission after their Final Four showing last year I will take them here (never mind the home court factor) by 20+.
Looking at Class 5 as work schedule permits bear with me..................
