welcome to the land of private schools non-class1 fans

Does any one realize how hard it is for a kid to get into Borroughs , MICDS or Priory. It isn’t just my parents will pay. Those schools only accept maybe 20 percent of HS applicants, and sports abilities have 0 to do with it.

Yes, which means they dont have to accept any special needs kids who would count against their enrollment. Exactly.

I agree.
Asking people to believe that these top athletes are all ALSO among the best of the best academically... and they are admitted based on their merit scholar potential?!
Fake. News.
The number of kids who can devote 70% or more of their childhood and young adult life to a sport and carry the water in the classroom of an elite private school simultaneously are just precious, precious few.

I’m not saying elite athletes aren’t going to those schools, I’m saying it’s so hard to get in that the admissions process doesn’t really care if they are elite, they want them to be elite smart, if they are also elite sports wise great, but they have to cut it in the classroom. Most of those kids are going home after practice and doing homework for 4-6 hours. I have a family friend who has a son that goes to one of them, and the stories I hear of the work he has to put in is absurd.

I believe what you're saying about your friend... what I don't believe is that the private schools who are cherry picking athletes and building "stars" are holding those kids to the same academic standards ... neither for entrance OR graduation. It's simply not possible.

I think there are 2 classes of privates, some like JBS, Priory and MICDS don’t care and the kids are elite smart, and then there are the CBC, LN and Trinity and others and I would agree with you.

I disagree with you when it comes to MICDS, Priory and JBS, but it’s ok that we disagree.

Trinity, CR and LN definitely recruit for football, in fact I know kids that have moved from LN to public and then back to LN. they can sight safety issues and no one can argue, LN had 2 kids move to LN by the 2nd or 3rd game of the year this year.
Wait...what.

The players transferred in and played????

Think I remember. Didn't a parent or relative go to JBS and that why he choose to go there over bigger programs from his home in IL.

Another tough guy. They are coming out of the woodwork.

Go look at Trinity's facilities and let me know if you think the school has enough money to give full rides. Football parents pay like everyone else. Trinity does have the advantage if being cheaper than other privates but it does not have a large endowment like others do. Same is true for LN. No tuition no attend which is why some kids left LN for public schools. This is not college with millions in revenue. Private schools have expenses and can not afford to give the football team free rides.

They’re not gonna believe you, bro. They’re the Missouri high school equivalent of flat-earthers. Besides, this is the time of the year when their tears flow. Football season is over and they have more time to cry about how much they hate STL and private schools. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Zeke went to City Academy a private school that prepares kids to attend independent schools like JBS so JBS was in his parents plan before sports came about. Kids at Trinity and LN have received ivy league offers so some are definitely among the academic elite. Trinity's QB is a 4.0 student who could excel academically at any school. Look at the mandatory Sunday study halls at LN. Kids at these schools could excel at JBS MICDS or any other school

This guy has literally ZERO facts about any of these kids academically lol just reckless speaking. You guys are basically saying the all white rich private schools have values and the more diverse private schools cheat lol. And idk who said it but yes CBC is about to have a couple of down years and Desmet is coming next year. Desmet is loaded.

EXACTLY. Look at all the LN kids over the last 3 years who have Ivy League offers. These kids are excellent students. These are College Prep institutions. Unlike public schools you can't just skip class or be struggling academically or you won't play. I remember watching the East St Louis 89 Blocks Documentary (great film) and Jeff Thomas would go weeks without attending class. Private schools not a chance.

Yep, a private school in St. Louis City to add to that. It's a good school, good enough where his mom had his younger sisters attend as recently as last year.

I saw that documentary, it was great. It struck me as odd how Jeff Thomas dropped off of the face of the Earth and would pop back up and play as if he never left.

That and they turn money away to hold enrollment numbers down because that prestigious Class 1 title means oh so much!
Anybody who thinks that Valle limits enrollment to stay in class 1 is not thinking rationally. The school was built in the 50's to accommodate 300 kids and today the enrollment is about 130 kids before the multiplier..

I had no idea all 11 D-1 prospects at Trinity are Rhodes Scholars now. Some of you guys need to apologize. And now all the public school kids skip school and still play on Friday nights. This is just sad.

Yep. No special needs kids or average joe citizens to pump up that enrollment. Only the best. Good point.

And Zeke was in private school since he was born. Those high standards must not be too rigorous if someone who beats up women could make it through.

LOL my lord you sound like a loser. You are again speaking from ignorance. Lutheran North and Trinity are the only private schools in North county. If you want to send your kid to a religious school in that area thats were they go. You weirdos seriously think these are select boarding schools were only sports matters.
But then again you guys have losers mentalities so instead of getting better and playing more physical football you come up with excuses to why all the Private schools are choking out your Slow, unathletic, D1-less town teams.
St Louis just has more talent. Every one of the 6 STATE FINAL teams have multiple high level D1 guys. Thats how you win in football, have more talent than the Ruals.

It's spelled Rural. You must have received a scholarship.

Instead of bashing the private schools you should be grateful for them. The high number of private schools is the only thing that keeps STL from having more success in football. If there were fewer privates and athletes were less distributed then you would have even more successful STL success. This is the advantage rural schools will always have. When there is no school choice you can build very dominant programs. Last year 5 of the 6 champs were public and I believe it was the same way the year before that. Public schools can hold their own and historically have dominated the private schools in football and one year where private schools have done well can not erase all of that history.

Easy there buddy! Here in Ampipe, we have sent SEVERAL players to D1 schools! Heck, we even had a former coach make it to the NFL playoffs! So be careful before you start bashing public schools on here!

Based on this and other posts, some people might think that STL has a team who won 7 consecutive titles or a team who has won 14 State titles. But you don't. This is the first year for a while that STL has enjoyed much success. Try to enjoy it instead of rubbing it in everyone's faces and insulting the rest of the state.

TWO teams from SWMO had stellar dynasties and everyone else from the area wants to claim glory from Lamar and Webb City’s accomplishments. Winning 7 consecutive championships or 14 state titles hasn’t stopped the crying, bitching and hating toward Trinity, Cardinal Ritter and Lutheran North. Sure, there was plenty of butt hurt after CBC’s shredding of Joplin. Hardly a whisper about Vianney. Absolutely nothing about MICDS. It’s all fine, though. There are plenty of your neighbors that aren’t gracious in victory or in defeat. The second SWMO all but got shutout, it didn’t take long for the insults to pop up.

Make no mistake, there is a reason one team has 9 or 11 D-1 players on their team and its not due to a level playing field. When you play with what you have instead of playing with who you can get, it does not matter how a team prepares or how hard they work, or how good their coaching is.

I would venture to say that since Webb started their insane run in 1989 ...they have had about the same number of d1 players total that Trinity has on their roster this year....just a bit of perspective. It's not random...it's no coincidence...simple laws of mathematical probilities can easily prove that.
