I see Smithville got 1 vote. Really think they going surprise some teams this year.

Agreed...

Until a team breaks the back of a proven winner no one gives them any respect.

Reminds me of the 2011 Savannah team.

Was at that playoff game between Savannah and Webb City by the way in Savannah.

In a roll of reversals however...

That team who was the underdog coming in led 24-7 at half over Webb City.

Remember just as the second quarter was ending a couple Savannah players taunting the opposing team. I was thinking to myself at the time that this game is not over, a huge mistake.

After a hurried two point conversion in the 4th.
Final WC 28 Savannah 24

One of the best games I've ever watched.

I remember the same thing Scout, But mine was the first series of the 2nd half. Savannah stuffed Webb again, and acted like it was no big deal. I turned to my buddy and told him right then, webb was going to win this game. I won a steak dinner from him that night. Was a great game.

While we're doing the reminiscing thing...wondered if you were at the 2006 Webb/Lee Summit West playoff game? Class 4 Semifinals at LSW

Remember the announcer before the game giving Webb praise for years of Championships play and unbelievable State Record Accomplishments.

Then he finished up with...

..."but Webb City hasn't played the competition of a Lee Summit West."

Kiss of death in those few words. I glanced down at the Webb players warming up and there was a slight pause in their stretching.

GAME OVER
Webb 10 LSW 6
Fun time ;)

Well that's a nice romantic thought which you are entitled to enjoy but let me tell it from an unbiased viewpoint. A buddy and I drove over two and one half hours to watch that game and it was classic. I told my friend that they should cut the power to the P A system or someone should rewrite his script. But, in the end, it wasn't a determining factor. Bottom line, Webb had been there before, LSW had not. Webb's lines, superior technique and execution. Better game plan (of course its always good when successful) but the only way Webb could have won in my opinion. And, finally, If LSW had Webb's QB and Webb theirs then LSW would have won (and there is certainly no disrespect meant to the lad from LSW by that statement). To this day, and I have seen lots and lots of football before and since that game, it is the single most impressive performance by a QB that I have witnessed at the high school level in terms of managing the chains. That kept the ball out of the hands of LSW's high powered offense and frustrated them to no end. IMO

As a person who played on that Webb team we came into the game obviously wanting to win, but after hearing that PA guy say that we were all a bit more fired up and determined to dominate that game. Did it ultimately effect the game? Probably not but it's never a good idea to add a little more heat to an opposing team when they are of Webb's caliber. That atmosphere is something I will never forget. Such a ridiculously amazing game.

Don't think we're disagreeing, just pointing out different highs and lows of a game that now is over a decade old. There was of course much more to that game than just the announcer.

That whole season (2006) intrigued me due to the fact that the KC radio/tv media had already crowned C4 LSW Champion of that class after beating C6 Liberty 37-21 a few weeks earlier.

I, likewise, will never forget that atmosphere. I got goose bumps and I wasn't from either town and "ridiculously amazing" is about the best description you could ever assign to that game. Left the stadium knowing I just saw the state championship decided that day.

Absolutely. They should have re-arranged that game to be played in St. Louis, but then it might have lost some of the atmosphere so maybe it was for the best. But no doubt that was the state championship game.

Remember going to this game also, not a Webb or Savannah fan, just passing through there that day and thought I'd watch a football game. So cold..

If Lamar fans want to be mad at someone, be mad at the SWMO media for not propping up the Tigers to the rest of the state poll voters.
The Globe, News-Leader and Ozone all have votes. That is 20 percent of the electorate.
Now, should Valle come to town in two weeks and stop the winning streak, which is entirely possible, that pretty No. 1 ranking will be long gone.
Plus, the Tigers will be big underdogs to Trinity should they meet in the semifinal.

Valle couldn't even beat them with home field advantage last year

True, but Lamar does not have the same team speed as last season either.
I read where they have a young secondary and Valle is pretty dang good at chucking the old pigskin around.
I'm not saying Lamar loses, but there are a few more question marks hanging around the Tigers than usual.

Question is can Valle defend the run any better than last year? Probably not.

It must be late because I honestly have no clue to what you are talking about KNOWCLUE. I don't think any Lamar fans are mad at any media anywhere or did I miss a post somewhere?? Also, are you saying if we lose to Valle we will be considered big underdogs if we meet Trinity in the semi's or just no matter what we will be the underdogs?? No one knows if we will be in the semi's or if Trinity will.

I didn't realize that the polls had anything to do with who ended up as the state champion. Who cares about how many votes another team gets? I remember when Lamar started this run, they were the team receiving just a few votes. Did it matter when the season was over? Did it matter to Harrisonville last year? Because a team is rated first in the polls and is beaten by the 5th rated team, does that make it an upset? No, it just means that these polls are meaningless. All these polls do is put a bullseye on the back of a few teams.

I was being sarcastic. A penny fan went off last week cause they lost to a class 2 school and dropped to 4th

Yes a PENNEY FAN went off... Valle may be good at throwing the pigskin around...but did get beat last year by Penney and Harper had a one handed interception catch in that game if you were there u saw it... So...needless to say... We won on Friday convincingly and again I say respect for Penney will be earned once again in November.
