Webb @ Camdenton

Camdenton is going to have to win this one as much on emotion/energy as anything. The weather region wide will be a factor without a doubt. There could be some natives there wishing real hard this one were played Saturday afternoon.
It wouldn’t be a Camdenton game at the lake unless it was crappy weather

It’s on turf anyway not like it will be a nasty and muddy mess like back in the day

On paper...but they haven't played anyone but CBC..who got roasted by Rockhurst 34-14 (a team that didn't make it to the district final.) Beating Chaminade by 1 point is their next best win? Really? Suspect.
Ray-Pec, especially hosting, has a shot this Saturday. Sometimes it pays to watch teams like this that seem to get everything figured out coming from off the pace. Just one decade ago we Kearney fans saw just that................went from 3-2 to C4 champs.

After hearing the Webb City podcast this week Camdenton probably should've scheduled the game on Saturday anyway just to get the Cardinals out of their usual Friday night lights rhythm. Now it'll probably rain and if it does then that drastically lowers the Lakers chances of winning.

They also took apart a really good Francis Howell team 31-3 in the district championship. De Smet has arguably a better run game than Webb City with three all-state caliber running backs and half of the offensive line getting recruited by D1 schools... But yeah haven't played anybody because that team lost to that team who lost to that team lol.

And Ray Pec beat Park Hill 24-14, a team that is rated about the same as Howell.

As a little piggyback to that post I think a lot of it has to do with being able to keep HC and staff as intact as possible for as long as possible. This is where Webb has a distinct advantage.............
I would say very few schools in the state have more consistency in this area than webb and camdenton. A Shore has been the head coach of camdenton for something like 45 years

Yeah, they're pretty much royalty because of all the success plus the fact that they are genuinely great people
All the way back to the late 1980s when Kearney had its first real run of success i.e. playoffs I remember bus after bus of Camdenton fans coming up for the 1988 sectional playoff game which Jeff Shore and the Lakers won 14-7. The next year Kearney went to Camdenton and won a thriller 35-27. On both occasions I met Lakers fans............very knowledgeable and respectful, fun folks to be around. Doggone it I wish this were Saturday! Would 100,000 percent be there!

The Camdenton fans I ran across last year were great and this was coming after they just lost on the extra point kick. I felt bad for them to lose the game that way! I am looking forward to going up there tomorrow night. Best of luck to them!

Does anyone else think it's kind of funny that the Lakers have always had a coach named Shore?

1996. Excelsior Springs smoked Webb and Camdenton in the same championship run.

WC lead with under 2 minutes to go in the game and dropped an interception that would have sealed the win right before Excelsior scored. Great game that WC came up short on but hardly smoked.
I just think that Webb D will be too much. Webb wins
I'm more concerned with the Lakers D. Lord knows I've been wrong before but, especially given the weather forecast, they have to at least slow the run or it will be a long, cold, painful night for the home crew.

The Bonuchi years..............old timers like me should remember that name very, very will in these parts.

Before their game Hentges (Helias) was concerned with Lebanon's crushing running game. He was right to be so as Lebanon hammered them.
That's the same offense that Camdenton allowed only 7 points in 8 quarters this year. Now, I'm not saying Lebanon is Webb but I think Webb may have to call out the posse some tonight. This could be another Webb-Camdenton classic and, like you, am wishing this was tomorrow afternoon instead of tonight.
