Undefeated Lamar at Undeafted Cassville.

You are correct. I forgot about it because of 13&14 losses are the ones i remember

Those ones sucked. Being a Cassville fan myself, I couldn’t ever dislike Lamar much besides when they play Cassville! Lol I hope you guys go far this year. With one loss to Cassville of course! ;)

Seen both team play and this is what I think which is really not worth a whole alot. On offense I would say cAssville is a little better than Lamar. On defense I think Lamar has the edge, Special teams I would say probable goes to cAssville. Coaching I think Lamar has the edge, seems Bailey has Parnell's number, could this be the year that changes? I think cAssville will win, But not because Lamar is down, but because cAssville is up, the QB has been starting since his freshmen year some of the others have been playing since sophomores and they have only been getting better each year. I just wonder can cAssville match Lamar's physical play for four quarters, if they can then they stand a real chance of ending the streak.

I do think this game is going to be a fun one to watch, I think it will be close, but who knows with kids. Very possible both these teams have a chance to make it to the championship game.
GO BIG 8!!

Cant remember if it was the year before the hitch and pitch or the year after but CJ won on a blocked fg with no time remaining

That CJ team was good. Webb scored in the final seconds to beat them in the district championship to beat them . Then went on to lose in the state finals to k town

In that game, CJ jumped on Lamar early and led 20-0 in the 1st quarter. From that point, up to that last play, Lamar outscored CJ 46-23. That was the only game all year that Lamar didn't turbo clock.

It was the best of Lamar's state championship teams and I think that was also CJ'S best team ever. It was the best high school game I ever saw.

I may be mistaken but, i believe that CJ team was beaten by about 3 touchdowns by Webb City.

The following year Lamar beat CJ 56-34, and had a running clock on them until late in the 4th quarter. That was the year CJ fumbled late in the game to allow Webb City to come from behind to win in the district finals.

Amazing

The last time that Cassville beat Lamar the Seniors were in 7th grade (2012). I think this will be a great game as long as Cassville has the right mentality and understands that they can compete. I think Cassville needs for things to go their way early to overcome that a bit. If that happens it will be a dog fight. If Lamar comes out and gets on top early it will be interesting to see how Cassville responds.

Ugh don’t remind me. Lol

Lamar needs to clean it up some more for this game. They have gotten better with the penalties, but still have some room to improve. So far they have been able to overcome "3rd and long", but I don't know if that will be the case this week.

My bad.........missed a year. Only thing that helps is..........I don't think that Cassville's Jr's or Sr's lost to Lamar until HS. I could be wrong, but I think both of those classes won in Jr high........not that it matters, but I guess to them the win streak over them is only at 3.

False this was in 2015! The hitch and pitch was 2013. Blocked FG was 2014

Lamar has classes (my not be the senior class) who have went undefeated in middle school.

I'm pretty sure that isn't the case for Lamar's Sr's and Jr's in Jr high........not that it matters that much as Jr high isn't a fair predictor to HS. Just speaking to possibly the confidence of those kids and how it might relate to the win streak over Cassville.

I believe all four of these classes (talked to a dad at the last game I went to) told me a few classes lost once it twice. But the rest haven’t lost since middle school. JV usually doesn’t lose either. Not sure about this year. Didn’t ask about JV. Lamar churns football players. Unfortunately for Cassville.

It is all about the coaching. Bailey and Lundine are a great combination. As long as they are at Lamar, the Tigers will be competing for a state championship. They may not win, but they will be in the running.

Lamar’s seniors tied them 14-14 in 7th grade, got blown out by Cassville in 8th grade and played a great game against them as freshmen, losing in the final seconds by 3 points in a high scoring game.

Lamar’s juniors were blown out both year in middle school, but beat Cassville as freshmen.

Should be a great game.

Ok wasn’t sure. Years get mixed up with people I’m sure.

It sounds like the usual storyline of WC/CJ or this year WC/Carthage and WC/Joplin. Everyone wants to think it will be an upset or at least a game but 9 times out of 10 the more experienced team will win it. To beat a Lamar or WC you can't just be a little better or have more skill. You have to find a way to believe you are better - not only better than the other team but all the other teams they have slaughtered before you. That's a huge mental obstacle. Experience and confidence is often kind of a silver bullet in those types of games in my opinion.

Regardless of the outcome I always love games like that. Good crowds and atmosphere. Sometimes the games are a disappointment but sometimes they are the type of game remembered for years like some of those CJ Lamar games. Will probably be a lot of fun!

I somewhat agree with this, but Lamar has not been dominating the Big 8 like say a Webb has the SWC and COC, they have just dominated their class.

Yes Lamar has won 7 straight state titles, but during that run of 7 titles they have only won the Big 8, 3 times. I believe during that span CJ won the title twice and Cassville won it twice, I think people forget that.

Good point, I don't routinely keep up with Lamar and have never seen them play - just hear their name all the time and see them winning titles and make the assumption it's a direct comparison.

I don't think all those comparisons are quite apples to apples ...
But, Lamar doesn't need me to carry their water.
They probably like being the smallest school in the Big 8. They probably like being minimized.

Absolutely agree they use them being the smallest school as an edge and chip on there shoulder. Reminds me of old school Seneca when Hodge was there

Pretty sure CJ sit most of there horses in the second half to prepare for Webb

Nice try but Dominic Burnett scored CJ's first touchdown to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. He also scored the last touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter. Carl Junction's first game in district that year was against Marshfield. Then the played Webb City in the following week. So I doubt they were resting the starter for Webb.

You are correct griswold, CJ didn't take their starters out to rest them. It was the other way around.

CJ jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Lamar tied it at 7. CJ scored again only to have Lamar tie it up at 14. By early in the 4th period, Lamar had a running clock on CJ, 56-21.

Lamar subbed in the JV and freshman teams after they had the 35 point lead. CJ left their starters in and cut the deficit to 56-34 and that is how the game ended.

Hey bullit, what is your version of dominating. Since the start of the 2011 season, Lamar has lost 5 conference games. Two to Cassville, 2011 and 2012. One to Seneca in 2012. Two to Carl Junction in 2013 and 2014. Besides those losses, Lamar has not had more than a couple games that were not turbo clocked. I would say that is domination.

You have to look at the history of the conference, in a few years I think we can look back and say yes Lamar had a dominating run if they continue and some might say it is dominating now?

I would say Seneca from 85 to 95 would be dominating they were 7 time outright conference champs in 10 years that is pretty impressive, and they turbo ed more people than I care to remember as we were on the other end of some of those lope sided games. The next run would be cAssville from 05 to 12, 5 time out right champ and and then one tie in a 8 year span pretty good, and they won the conference 4 in a row.

let's be honest what Lamar is doing right now is impressive, this week they could secure their fourth outright conference title which would tie them with cAssville for the longest run that will be impressive. And I don't see a big let down in in talent the next few years. What my point is, is that people forget is during this 7 state title run they have only won the conference title 3 times that is all.
