The COC & OC in talks about joining forces!?!?!?

There are already 5 class 4 schools in the Big 8. CJ would'nt even be the largest school. Mac county is bigger.
Maybe of they could guarantee CJ could play each of those schools every year. However CJ doesn't want to play a lot of class 2 and 3 schools.

CJ
Monett
Mac County
Marshfield
Bolivar
Rogersville
Neosho
Nevada

Then the Big 8 can go back to having 8 schools after East Newton leaves.

Where is East Newton going? And if Neosho thinks that is their landing spot, wouldn’t it be a lot more likely that it goes to CJ if they are truly looking to get out of the COC?

Sooner or later they are most likely to join the Mid-lakes, The Big 8 need to just scrap the east side and let them call their selves something else, and add aurora/mt. vernon back and call it good.

Really just need the 4 Springfield schools from the OC to combine with the COC. Split into 2 divisions

Large
Joplin
Nixa
Kickapoo
Ozark
Carthage
Republic
Webb City

Small
Neosho
Glendale
Branson
Parkview
Willard
Hillcrest
Carl Junction

Those divisions look really good for all the schools competitively at least football wise.

The 6 remaining Ozark Conference schools make a perfect conference.
Bolivar
Camdenton
Lebanon
Rolla
Waynesville
West Plains

But an Ozarks Super Conference based on enrollment like the KC Suburban Conference has been kicked around for 25 plus years.
Personally, I think this would be great. Selfishly I like it for mid mo because this would allow Helias, Cap City and Jeff City to play a Camdenton, Rolla or Lebanon. I think a Helias Camdenton could turn into what Helias and Hannibal have going. Would make for some great out of conference games.

1. The COC and OC are definitively in talks to merge and the idea of 3 divisions has been heavily discussed lately.

2. East Newton leaving the Big 8 to get away from 50+point blowouts in football is just a matter of time. I'd guess they announce something this spring and it takes effect in 24.

3. Neosho wants out but will have a lot of trouble finding a home due to their size, my guess is with the realignment of the COC/OC they stay.

4. CJ wants out, but my Big 8 people tell me there is ZERO chance those sups vote to let them back in.

5. Most likely Big 8 realignment after EN leaves would move a Mt. Vernon and/or Aurora back over to the West.

Repeat ; Neosho doesn’t want out
Because they don't have anywhere else to go? I know for a fact that feelers have been put out to see if the Big 8 would take them after EN leaves. Weighting all their options as the COC discusses restructuring.

Neosho is right where they want to be

If they are going to restructure then I am sure CJ would be fine being with the smaller schools in that group.

I was just chatting with a buddy of mine who coaches in Montana. They’ve got a 9 hour (one way) bus ride tomorrow for a conference game.
Yeah that can happen especially in western states. I saw on the local sports highlights the other night that some school near here, I think it was Pittsburg, KS had a game in.. Ulysses I think? The news guy commented about the 7 1/2 hr bus ride.

Doubt Monett is interested in leaving the Big 8. Most of the Big 8 is happy where they are.

Union and Washington on one side. Nevada, Neosho, Monett, CJ, Carthage, Webb, and Joplin on the other. Makes TOTAL sense. SMDH. Conferences aren't for fans. Mega conferences don't offer crap. They're formed because stubborn a$$ed admins can't let go of their backroom deals and allegiances. It's nuts. Put the student/athletes first, for once, in the history of decision-making in public education. It's stupid to get on a bus and travel 90 miles on a Monday for a contest when you can travel 10 miles for a contest against the same size school.

I'd say you are correct. Neosho and CJ wanting out has helped to fuel some of the re structuring talk and would most likely be best for them.

Neosho is bigger then Webb and if the housing boom continues in the southwest area of the state, CJ will be larger then Webb in a few short years. Webb is land locked right now. All the new homes are being built in CJ’s school district. It will be interesting to see what happens.

The Webb school district isn't landlocked. They are building entire neighborhoods in Oronogo and Carterville.
