flat out showed the dominance. Hasn’t happened at least in this corner before and may not again. Doubt if it’s ever happened out of any one conference in Missouri ever. Class 6 runner up Joplin, Class 5 Champion cARTHAGE and Class 4 Champion WEBB CITY! Who said the COC and our schedule was weak?

The weak COC teams would beat most other conferences' weak teams. Carthage had a hard time with Republic and Ozark

IMO COC weak teams could beat other conference's weak teams and some of their top teams.
When making COC picks this year --I considered (and credited) that the weak teams had played ranked teams. I don't think 75% of class 4 & 5 teams would have done better against the ranked teams.
It seems that a COC weak teams' loss to the ranked team --gets them discredited/downgraded worse than they actually are.

The COC only has 2 teams that have won state championships in football. Webb City (15) and Carthage (1). Joplin's titles were won by Parkwood (3) and Memorial (1) before they consolidated. Branson were runners-up twice. Ozark and Nixa were runners-up once.

I thoroughly enjoy the historical facts and figures you post on Missouri high school football!! Floray would be proud

I kinda figure since they just changed the name on the outside of the building it’s pretty much the same school dontcha think???

No I don't believe they are the same school. Here is why. You had two school's that had separate football histories combining together to start something completely new and separate. Yes Joplin High School kept the Eagle mascot of Memorial HS, but combined the color schemes of both Parkwood and Memorial.

Here are some other examples of consolidated school's.

Mercy High School (Bulldogs) located in University City consolidated with St. Thomas Aquinas (Falcons) of Florissant in 1985 to form St. Thomas Aquinas-Mercy High School (Falcons)in Florissant. In 2003 St. Thomas Aquinas-Mercy High School and Rosary High School (all girls Catholic school) consolidated to form Trinty Catholic High School (Titans) of St. Louis.

St. Mary's High School (Trojans) Independence and O'Hara High School (Celtics) Kansas City consolidated to form St. Michael the Archangel High School (Guardians) in Lee's Summit.

Here are some examples where consolidation happened, but the history of the program didn't change.

Bishop Hogan Catholic High School (Rams) Kansas City became Hogan Prep Academy Charter School (Rams) Kansas City.

St. Louis County-Day School (Rams) consolidated with Mary Institute (all girls school) to form MICDS (Rams).

Pembroke County-Day School (Red Raiders) consolidated with Sunset Hill (all girls school) to form Pembroke Hill School (Red Raiders).

Agree with you B & W but maybe they have some recessive championship genes in their DNA.

Ok, fair enough. Joplin though has only been in the conference for 2 years and already been to state. They are going to be a factor from here on out.
Warning you though. We have a 7 year old CJ Bulldog. We’re coming in hot for 2027. Lol.

Joplin doesn't sniff the title game without Davis next year.

Joplin will be always wright next year ...no for real ...their qb is named "Always Wright " son of former Carthage tiger and NFL player Felix Wright

Not sure the point of this! The post says “Hasn’t ever been done, probably won’t be again”. Has nothing to do with Parkwood from 30 years ago. Has to do with all the posts about the greatness of KC and the Lou conferences/teams and the constant comment about weak opponents for WEBB. One year One Conference Class 4 and 5 CHAMPS and Class 6 runner up.. Freakin awesome !!!

Joplin lost their best 3 players but return a good core and have talented kids waiting ...they will be good next year and good for the forseeable future. As good as this year ? Probably not but still damn good

The point is to show that the COC only has one team that has dominated in winning state championships. Webb City. It's called history, or facts. Nobody said the conference was terrible because the other school's haven't won titles. Just consistently one team has been dominant, and successful. The point about Parkwood and Memorial was to state that Joplin HS can not claim those school's state titles. The success those two programs had years ago are not connected to the team now. They are seperate things.
