State championship predictions

They beat the 85 Bears last week.

I think Festus is better than people are giving them credit for. Lutheran North lost to Hillsboro last year and was in a close one last week. Festus badly lost to Jackson who badly lost to Cardinal Ritter who lost to Lutheran North. That's about all you can tell from common opponents. The Tigers have some pretty good athletes over there. I don't know if they win, but I think they compete, at least for awhile. Is LN significantly better than last year?
Yes. Last year they had a pretty darn good defense. They could run the ball well last year and still can but now they can throw all over the place well and let their playmakers go get it. What makes them so good overall is their size and speed on both sides of the ball.

Statistically they are better at running the ball this year than last year. Offensively by this point last year they had thrown for 2900 yards. This year just a shade over 2000. But the running back has run for 1300 when he had 671 last year. Not sure you can always go by stats because they can be misleading, imo.

Maybe yall not reading everything idk?
Tad said I forgot a class
I reminded him 8man isn't football so it wasn't forgotten it was left out on purpose and then I stated I'd hope a C2 team could win 8 man.

Tad and I go on for days about 8man.
For understanding purposes I don't think 8 man should be a thing. If you have enrollment to play as many teams with as low as 90 prove it can be done then play. If you can't then either find a way to change the culture and get the students out or coop with another low turnout school.

I have nothing against Archie themselves just hate they don't play real football
Dumbest comment of the day. It’s football. Get over yourself.

8-man: Archie
Class 6: Nixa
Class 5: Platte
Class 4: Lutheran
Class 3: Seneca
Class 2: Lamar
Class 1: Adrian

I-49 could have 3 titles along it, and if you count Seneca (as it is down the road a bit), it could be 4.

11 man going nowhere
I would hope not, especially in big districts, but rural schools may start being more 9-man with a glove and club. That is unless a helmet and pads option remains available to them. Rural landmass covers more territory and if the stadium lights polka dot more diamonds than gridirons, then that’s what the state will be known for.

Unless their is just a shortage of athletes the roster space on baseball is limited unlike football

Yep… but rural schools with 15 or 20 available athletes in grades 9-12 can fill a baseball roster easier than football unless the option is there to play with a reduced number.

As for limited, our family completely knows that; son worked his tail off to make his Class 5 high school baseball team. It is an easier sport to access at smaller schools, but you have to be on your A-game to make that team in the larger ones.

There are very few schools with an enrollment that yield only 4-5 athletes per class.

For reference Lil bitty midway 9-11 enrollment of 91 yields football team of 31

Not every school is a Midway, and at some that size, you would really have to loosely define athlete. And Midway isn't winning like they used to. Hopefully they can keep the 11-man going however.

You are correct not every school is a midway who instead of making excuses and cutting programs finds a way to bring the culture of participation and school pride. You cannot ever get me to believe that a school can field a baseball team in fall but not a football team. He'll I'd coop before I cut football for baseball.
Baseball parents are also ruining kids having them play one sport the whole year.

I'm not in disagreement with the participation and pride thing, but it may still be better to have like Texas, the option of either 11 or 6. Then basketball-only schools should be able to also play football. The fact that state has 200+ 6-man teams is what makes the Lone Star a football state, more than the Dallas Carters and Odessa Permians.

Also for baseball parents, not all of them are pushing just ball. Some of my son's friends did football and baseball in the fall. We would have enjoyed seeing our son play football, as we did love watching his youth games. However in junior high, he decided he wanted to focus on baseball. He must have known what he was doing, as he is doing it in college at this time. As for the one-sport parents, it is more than just baseball that does this. Soccer, hoops, and even football parents are doing it. The travel football is what blows me away. Off-seasons are important.
