St. Joseph and Missouri Western to host Football State Championships

About 7 min closer for Hillsboro and 35 minutes closer for the other 2. Springfield is not centrally located. Neither is St. Joe, but you act like MSHSAA has ever concerned themselves with travel time or location.
Maybe MSHSAA said " hey let's put this out in the boonies so we can get more suckers to pay for the horrible broadcasts!"

Imagine a thread getting diverted to discus the finer points of issues with Valle, Blair Oaks, 8 man and Class 1 and 2 football.

As far as I’m concerned everybody from class two on down can play their state championship game at Lathrup high school. They have a great facility there that can handle the crowd. You don’t have to worry about hotels y’all can just camp out in the local farm fields

Correct. But you essentially chose one of the farthest 11 man schools from Springfield and they're still closer than 3 of the teams that played in the state title game last year. I'm not saying it's the best, but I would think it's better than St. Joe. And I agree, I know MSHSAA doesn't care about travel or location. Heck they don't care about what times games are played, state basketball is in the middle of the week.

The vast majority of the population of the state is in the triangle that forms from KC to St. Louis then from St Louis down to Joplin

IF we ever make it, it will be insane wherever it is. That's a huge if btw.

What is the reason for having all the classes at one facility? Why not have it at different sites? There must be a reason.

It's nice for those that want to watch several games. Idaho had football and basketball championships at different locations.

But really how many fans do that. Probably more did when the dome was used but not as much now. A casual fan is less likely to watch all the games in December Missouri weather. Have three sites like they did the Covid year so fans could see a second game if they wanted to stick around.

streaming is prolly the biggest factor. one venue keeps cost down

I have no idea if the dimensions would work. I don't know a lot about soccer, but the new KC Current Stadium appears from a distance to be a perfect field for high school football state championship games.

11,500 seating capacity

Grass field is the problem at the KC Current Stadium. Too many games in December on grass is not good.

I was just about to post this.

I can’t believe they’re having it in St Joe of all places. I can’t imagine they will have the lodging to accommodate. Not to mention it’s the least centrally located venue they’ve used to host it in awhile.
Yes...Jeff City High School hosted 3 state championship games during the COVID year 2020
Didn't something like this happen in the virus year of 2020?

This is about like Cape hosting the Volleyball State Championships. Nothing like a 7 hr drive for Tarkio a couple years ago.

If they wanted the smaller stadium, why not go back to MO State? It is at least somewhat centrally located.
Ironically, St Joe will also be hosting the volleyball state championships at their civic center atena
