Sprint Medley stagger question

When this race is run in lanes all the way what is the correct starting line for the first runner and the correct exchange zone for the 3rd runner?

If you are talking about the 1600 Medley, then I would run the first 3 runners in lanes and have the 800 runner cut like in the 3200 relay. In that case you would use the 400 staggers. Good luck.

The Sprint Medley is 100-100-200-400. In the race I saw they started the race on the 4x200 starting stagger. The lane 8 runner was almost to the 1st exchange zone and the lane 1 runner ran long. This didn't seem right to me.

Nope - should have been the 4X100 starting staggers with the 400 runner cutting in. If they used the 4X200 then the first man ran short, progessively as they went out, and the second man ran long.
