I can not tell which end you speak out of Veer?Playing with a class 4 talent pool in class 1 is tough
Talent pool isnt weak.I can not tell which end you speak out of Veer?
Quote: "When's the last time SG and Valle were good at the same time?
Does it matter if the talent pool is weak if you have 100 or 12,000 to choose from?
On me. Thought Faulkner was older than that & Fallert fell off the face of the earth at SEMO so fast I figured he was PWO. Neither of which changes the fact that this 'Class 4 talent pool' schtick doesn't really hold up if you start bringing any facts into it, it just sounds good when Veer says it enough & I think some are dumb enough to believe him.Almost correct....

Nothing changes the fact valle used a larger talent pool than any other class 1 school. On me. - In school districts the same size as Valle in the same part of the state just recently, Hayti sent a kid to the Big Ten, Jefferson sent a kid to the SEC.. so VC sending one kid to the local FCS program is hardly overwhelming
- Out of all of the Private Schools that play football, if you really want to play the 'talent pool' game Valle Catholic has to be in the running for the smallest. Their neighbor just to the North, St. Pius(Festus) is playing with a talent pool in a community with 225k people(Veer's number). If anything he says that matters, really mattered, Pius would be rolling in Class 2 the same way (Class 1 this year).
- To cap off the stupidity VC 104 and SG 397 doesn't add up to being a Class 4 talent pool anyway.
Anyway, I've gone too far defending them I have to turn over the duties to Tico or one of the other Valle fans. I've always laughed at some of the lack of logic surrounding the annual VC discussion. I wouldn't ever want to be confused as a Big Blue supporter.
Yeah the only thing that could change that fact is if the fact wasn’t even right in the first place.. since you don’t have to drive 20 minutes from Valle to find a class one school(SV) that has a larger talent poolNothing changes the fact valle used a larger talent pool than any other class 1 school.
Also kinda weird that sg county has a low pop but has 500ish students.
If it's only 20 mins you probably share kids.Yeah the only thing that could change that fact is if the fact wasn’t even right in the first place.. since you don’t have to drive 20 minutes from Valle to find a class one school(SV) that has a larger talent pool
LMAOIf it's only 20 mins you probably share kids.
Wonder if that's why sv was good when valle was bad.
I recall they had a rb with a valle name back then
How is Valle's talent pool larger than St. Vincent, St. Pius in Festus. and lot's of other small Catholic HS's?Nothing changes the fact valle used a larger talent pool than any other class 1 school.

Ok public schools. How is Valle's talent pool larger than St. Vincent, St. Pius in Festus. and lot's of other small Catholic HS's?
Ricardo Valle was his name?If it's only 20 mins you probably share kids.

THEY WERE BOTH GOOD THIS YEAR!If it's only 20 mins you probably share kids.

They were 5-6 and 4 of those wins came against teams a combined 8-33.THEY WERE BOTH GOOD THIS YEAR!
Meyer.Ricardo Valle was his name?
Meyer Valle? I do not see that nameMeyer.
He was at Perryville his freshman year then matriculated to SV.
Go look at SV's roster this year. You'll see at least one prominent 'valle name'.
That whole valle name spiel is bull.
To some teams that is a championship year! My first year coaching varsity basketball we were 4-20! That was like winning a state championship considering they were 3-71 the combined 3 years before. They were 5-6 and 4 of those wins came against teams a combined 8-33.
Ya but when valle was down SV got a state title and lots more hardware. To some teams that is a championship year! My first year coaching varsity basketball we were 4-20! That was like winning a state championship considering they were 3-71 the combined 3 years before.
There are many common SG and P'ville surnames, and many people related between the two communities. There were many marriages between SG and P'ville. Both towns were predominantly Catholic and people socialized together much more back in the day at dances, picnics, .... it was not uncommon for P'ville or St Vin or Valle or SG kids to be at same HS parties back then.Meyer.

Look carefully and you can usually find a P'ville name on SG or Valle roster
Ya but when valle was down SV got a state title and lots more hardware.
Then valle gets good again and POOF.
Coincidence.
According to my calculation they will still have 8 points and play class 3 again next year regardless of what happens this year.Don't worry they should be back at class 2 next season. I do understand where you are coming from though. If they stayed class 1, no telling how many state championships they would have. I do not know about the recruiting stuff, but I do know the kids that are there put in as much work as anyone in the state and are dedicated to it! That is why they have great success. I also know that they will be well prepared for Friday's game. Best of luck to them Friday.
You are almost correct now that I look at it. They get 2 points for the '16 season for being in final four. They will have to spend at least 1 more season in class 3. If they do not win a district title, they will be class 2 in the '23 season.According to my calculation they will still have 8 points and play class 3 again next year regardless of what happens this year.
2016 1 point 2017 district champ
2017 3 points runner up
2018 0
2019 4 state champ
2020 0
2021 ?
I can't recall what success SG had during that time. The only state championship for SG was in 93? when both schools won. Remember Title Town?late 90s -early 2000s?
That will be a last resort. And I'm sure schools in 8 man would be po'd. lolIf I am VC, I just drop down to 8 man where there are no stipulations and only 1 class.
Saint Vincent's.I can't recall what success SG had during that time. The only state championship for SG was in 93? when both schools won. Remember Title Town?
But I do recall Valle being down from John Bacon's time until Judd showed up. Some of my friends closer to the program blamed it on coaches who had a difference in philosophy rather than continuing the success that started in the 80's. And I think Judd's style of coaching harkens back to philosophy he played under at Valle.
I look for SG to become a lot better program with Joy Pope.
Valle will still be Class 3 next year. To add to that, St. Mary's should win the Class 3 state championship this year and move up to Class 4 next year. That should allow Valle to have enough success next year to remain Class 3 in the future. You are almost correct now that I look at it. They get 2 points for the '16 season for being in final four. They will have to spend at least 1 more season in class 3. If they do not win a district title, they will be class 2 in the '23 season.
Who was that?Valle's starting QB in the late 90's lived in Farmington. My brother played QB for Park Hills Central about the same time and was good friends with him.
Ah, I remember him. He was a goodBen Arnold
I agree with everything except that I think Class 1 Monroe City would be good competition. They have some dudes on that team!People have been whining and complain about Valle since the dawn of the internet it seems like. And while it's so easy to name kids from the Trinity's, St. Mary's, Lutheran North's of the world that have transferred in and played in obvious 'recruiting' situations, never in all these years has a single name or situation been produced of a kid who has played at Valle in any kind of shady circumstances. I don't know if they hardly ever get a 'move in', SG as a town doesn't have a whole lot going for it.
It boils down to this, the arguments/ accusations around Valle are usually trying to establish a competitive imbalance based on demographics or trying to apply the idea that Valle is recruiting in the same way those previously listed STL privates have, & they're all a reach on some level.
Valle is consistently one of the best small school teams in the state for 3 very simple reasons that nobody likes to hear.
1. They do work hard. This doesn't mean they 'Just out work everybody' and nobody else lifts and trains in the off season, that's not what I'm saying. But they definitely take care of business on their own end.
2. They are coached better. They have a system that's been in for a long time and smart coaches who know exactly what theyre looking at & looking for.. and usually have their 11 as the most prepared on the field.
3. MOST Class 1-3 Missouri High School Football teams, are not just not that good. There's nobody in Class 1 this year who would give them a game, a couple in class 2 could, and a handful in class three. They're going to run into a team this week that certainly fits that category and then some.
If you ask people in the Southwest part of the state I would imagine they think the exact same things about Lamar.
except they actually have to , you know, move and stuffEverybody complains about private schools winning all of the time yet we have Webb, Lamar, Blair Oaks etc. Parents move to those districts just so their kids can play sports. You can't tell me otherwise. No different than recruiting.
From Ironton?Very good dude too. My brother played AAU basketball with him and some kid named Chris Foster.
Actually very different. I can't speak for Webb or Lamar, but for BO if parents move into the district, it's usually when their kids are in elementary school. They're not moving in as a sophomore or junior. Most of the people that move into that district are doing it to get their kids out of JCPS, not necessarily for athletic reasons. There are two Parochial grade schools that feed into BO but a lot of those kids go to Helias Catholic for high school. So there are times when a parent may decide to send their kid to BO instead of HC but it definitely is not from recruiting. I don't mean to bring this up saying Valle recruits because I don't know a whole lot about them, but there are other privates that blatantly recruit and forgive tuition for certain athletes in the St. Louis area.Everybody complains about private schools winning all of the time yet we have Webb, Lamar, Blair Oaks etc. Parents move to those districts just so their kids can play sports. You can't tell me otherwise. No different than recruiting.
