Class 2, No. 1, Hogan Prep (Kansas City) 11-2 in 2009
While much of the state has very high expectations for the 2010 Rams,
head coach Phillip Lascuola enters with causes optimism. "We
will be young and inexperienced in some important spots but we have some
good leaders and work ethic returning. After graduating 12 seniors and
losing a couple others to transfer we will have a different look
offensively but should have some play makers", commented Lascuola.
Returning on offense for the Rams senior DeVante Bausby(6-0
165) and junior Phillip Callier(5-10 155) return as top
play makers. Bausby led the league with 636 receiving yards, while
Callier averaged 15 yards-per-carry in limited duty. A
pair of talented linemen return for the Rams in senior JorDon
Stephenson(6-5 220) OL/DL and senior Tony Hammons(5-10 220) OL/DL.
Junior quarterback Jevon Bausby(6-0 165) takes over a
leadership role with the Rams. Other newcomers to the offense
include senior Eric Lockett(5-11 185) RB/LB and sophomore
Anthony Sherrill(6-0 165) RB/DB a talented back who projects to
be a top college prospect.
"Defensively will drop off a bit but should be able to hold there own
vs. quality opponents", added Lascuola. Senior Mike Fluker(5-10 185)
will be looked to on the defensive line, while Lockett, junior Jeff
Hytower(5-11 160), and senior Leanard Sloan(6-1 200) step in at
linebacker.
In 2009 eventual champion Maryville ended the Rams bid to advance to the
Edward Jones Dome. With Maryville competing in Class 3 this group
will mature into a club capable of returning to St. Louis for the first
time since 2006.
