OSU should be out. 4 Conf. champs in.

OU lost by 21 to Ohio State????
Ok State lost three
USC lost by 46 to Bama, 17 to Stanford and 4 to Utah. Did beat Washington, but we all know that means little now.

Penn State is interesting. But I think we all know they were not MUCH better than Ohio State, if not equal given a 3 point loss @ Penn State.

I know all those scores. And they didn't deserve to make the playoffs in a four team setup, but at the end of the season, all of those teams have better offenses than OSU.

Right so they may put up 14, but they may also give up 40+. Maybe they should have given FSU another chance. lol

You said:

Losing Hermann 2 years ago killed OSU. Their offense has been bad ever since.

Now this is priceless. OSU wasn't good enough to win their conference. That is a sign they didn't belong in the playoff, am I wrong? No. I am not. The first non conference champ to be chosen by the committee and that was not a competitive game. The committee was wrong. YOU were wrong. Several of us pointed this out BEFORE they were chosen. You made claims of bias against OSU. Wrong. Its called good judgment.

I don't see how my comment about Hermann or the offense had anything to do with what you said but I'll bite. OSU was good enough to win the conference, but they got beat. That doesn't mean they aren't good enough. Had Bama lost and wasn't able to play in the SEC championship game then I would still advocate for them being in the playoff. That's your opinion that the committee was wrong (and quick reminder...the committee has only been around for 3 years, so being the first time it has happened isn't something out of this world). So I'll agree to disagree. The fact that you claim that people on this board don't have a bias again OSU is laughable. Just read the thread.

OU, OK State, Penn State, USC could have all at least scored, among others.

Based on everyone's opinion regarding conference champs only then you should have only had two of those four listed. OU in front of OSU. Please. And OK state. Really? I'll give you USC because they finished hot, but you can't just look at the last 9 games of a season. Penn State has already been discussed. But the hypocrisy in this reply is humorous.

I specifically said those teams weren't good enough to be chosen in a four team set up. BUT their offenses would have at least scored vs Clemson. OSU was awful. We were robbed of competitive football.

You may be right. May be wrong. We'll never know.....Trust me, I wish it had been more competitive.

FSU finished 3rd in their division. More competitive game...probably since OSU played that bad. But far less deserving.

Glad I didn't defend this choice.

Yeah it was bad....wont argue that

Penn State I guess. Michigan and OSU have zero offense and UM's best defender didn't even play.

b1g was TERRIBLE but who else is there?

While I've been saying that OSU offense is bad, they were still one of only two teams with Top-10 offenses and defenses. Penn State is the only one with a legitimate argument. Michigan lost by 1 to FSU without Peppers.

Just for information purposes, while Peppers and Butt were out. FSU was without just as much if not more than Michigan in that game. At one point in the fourth quarter I believe they had three freshmen playing in the secondary. They've been playing without Derwin James since week 2.

Top 10 playing against a weak conference? That's like saying Valle is the best offense in MO....sure when they play SEMO cupcakes and class 1 teams with limited school district boundaries?. Let them play Lamar and Harrisonville and see how that goes. Not picking on valle but that's basically what is going on.

Kenny...take out your best player. We know the law never will haha. Peppers is one of the best players in the country. And the TE was a beast like FSU's a few years back that you were so proud of.

And Derwin James wasn't one of the best players in the country, if not THE best corner in the country? They were missing two other safeties aswell as a slew of other injuries.

The Butt hurt is showing a lot.(pun intended)

It's going to be a long hard road for you, FSU is going to be GOOD next year.

And OSU was the youngest team in the Power 5.....Take out your stud RB. Best player probably?

B1G is not a "weak conference" especially the B1G East. And in the B1G West, OSU played Nebraska and Wisconsin. It was better than the Pac12 and the Big 12. They've struggled this bowl season. But playing Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska isn't "weak".

Im not trying to defend their offense as "good" because I don't think they are, but statistically they weren't as horrendous as they were the other night.

OSU? I was talking about Michigan. FSU had more significant injuries across the team than Michigan. Plus losing their starter on a "targeting" hit in the middle of the game because of the returner lowering his head.

Peppers will be a 1st round pick, no doubt but to compare him to a RB is laughable. Peppers had under 200 yards rushing this year.

Just for reference. James had 91 tackles and 4.5 sacks last year for FSU as a freshmen. That loss hurt BIG time.

Other notable players that FSU missed in the bowl game.

Nate Andrews, Safety
Ermon Lane, Safety
Trey Marshall in the second half, Safety
Auden Tate, WR
Kareem Are's went out in the 1st half, guard.

I get it, you only hear about Peppers and Butt, but you put even Lane and Tate back in the game and it makes a HUGE difference for FSU. Much less having a future first round pick James back.

But I will point out, Michigan's MVP was their punter, FSU had a starting spot at the 23 on average, Michigan was 43 yard line.

Here were the pre-game injuries posted. Just for laughs...

Injuries/Absences
U-M: LB Josh Uche (undisclosed), doubtful; WR Grant Perry (suspension), OT Grant Newsome (knee), CB Jeremy Clark (knee), RB Kareem Walker (academics), out.

Florida State: DB Calvin Brewton (head), probable; DT Adam Torres (foot), DT Darvin Taylor (shoulder), TE Jalen Wilkerson (concussion), DB Marcus Lewis (hip), LB Josh Brown (foot), OL Brock Ruble (leg), WR Da’Vante Phillips (wrist), DB A.J. Westbrook (concussion), LB Jacob Pugh (concussion), OL Wilson Bell (suspension), questionable; DB Derwin James (knee), WR Ermon Lane (foot), RB Johnathan Vickers (concussion), WR Jesus Wilson (foot), OL Landon Dickerson (knee), DB Nate Andrews (pectoral), WR Ja’Vonn Harrison (suspension), LB Sh’Mar Kilby-Lane (academics), WR George Campbell (abdominal), DT Keith Bryant (foot) out.

My bad. I can see where my post was confusing. I was pointing out the fact that OSU was playing with young players too since you pointed out freshman for FSU.

While I can see comparing a traditional LB to a RB would be laughable, he contributed on every side of the ball (having 160 yards of rushing is impressive considering he's a linebacker). He returned punts and kickoffs. They had an entire package for him on offense. And then you have what he brings on his actual side of the ball. There's a reason he was a heisman finalist.

But we've digressed. It was a good win for FSU regardless.
