Mid-MO
Starting in 2024-25?
Russellville
Linn
Eugene
South Callaway
New Bloomfield
Harrisburg
Fayette
and Tipton

Look like a solid mid-sized athletic conference. Tipton will be the class of the group by far for a couple years, but the league does look competitive. Thoughts?

Did the old Sho Me conference members get tired of losing to Fatima in every sport or what?

Isn’t Fatima a lot bigger (enrollment-wise) than the other ShowMe schools? Probably a reason why they have been so successful in it. The new conference will have to deal with a loaded Tipton program for awhile.

Yeah The quality of Fatima coaches athletes and culture have nothing to do with their athletic success.

I would say it is combination of both to some degree. Fatima does have excellent coaches and very good programs with good athletes, but having more athletes to choose from doesn't hurt either.

Fatima fits the tri-county in every sport but without football I dont see that happening. They didnt fit the Show Me very well anyhow but their success has less to do with enrollment and more to do with the culture and coaching and it has been like that for a very long time.

As a neutral observer I can attest that Fatima has had an inordinate amount of really good athletes, male and female. They are raised by people who know how to work, show their kids how to work, and expect their kids to do the same. And, they do work hard and are always the best conditioned team on the court, track, or field. I'm a football junkie mostly but attend other high school sporting events and I have always pondered why they have not started football. If you look at their basketball rosters on the court you will see all the attributes you would need to develop a good football program. Their bigs are solid and athletic. They are right out the back door from Blair Oaks and the Tri-County would be a perfect fit - all sports. Linn, on the opposite side of them, has just started football. Will Fatima follow?

Because of soccer. That there isn’t “football” and my understanding is they have very little interest in starting it up. Honestly it seems like schools with enrollments that size struggle to be good at both

Honestly I’d like to see the tri county make an exception for Fatima as it would strengthen the conference in other sports.

I think Fatima already plays a lot of the TC schools on a scheduled basis. I would be surprised (no real insight or inside information) if the TC admitted a school without football though.

From growing up in the Mid-Missouri area, I would be very surprised if they ever allowed a non-football school into the conference. I agree Fatima would compete well in the sports they share with TC members.

If size of school doesn’t matter, then why did Tipton leave? I believe they put out a statement about it.
BTW: original posts were not an attempt to throw shade at Fatima coaches…they are some of the best in the business.

I believe in the Tri-County, size does matter. If you get too big or too small, you can not be in the conference. I believe that was put in after Camdenton left the conference.. I could be wrong, but I think that is the way it goes. Tipton has struggled to find a good conference since they left. The original Mid Mo started (Tipton, Southern Boone, Harrisburg, South Callaway were some of them), but disbanded after a few years.

Yes, I believe in the Tri-County By-Laws, if a school gets to be more than twice the size of the average enrollment of all schools or if a school falls below 50% of the average enrollment , they can be voted out. But it has been several years since this was an issue so I may be off on that.

Tipton was close to that when they left

I believe for entry into the conference there is a rule that enrollment has to be between the smallest and biggest school in the tri.

Blair Oaks 344
Boonville 445
California 319
Eldon 447
Hallsville 336
Osage 512
Southern Boone 401
**Versailles 299

Fatima sitting at 300 enrollement would not fit in those parameters.

Interesting notes on some of the enrollments this year: Strafford at 304 puts them in class 4 most likely. Versailles and Fatima who have been class 4 could fall to class 3 possibly.
