But hey, the ol' boys on the football advisory committee got exactly what they wanted.

Imagine how much easier putting 40 in class .5 would have been. Class 6 seems to make it work.

Nice going.

Just for fun, I spent 5 mins and added the 4 smallest class 2 teams to class .5 and did 8 districts. One district ended up with 6 and one with 4 due to geography and common sense.
There is still 'some travel' but not on the scale the overlords decreed. (2 hr 14 mins from Scotland to Fayette).

Did you steal this from someone or just misinformed?

Class 1 through 6 play this week not next

class .5 only has the 8 - 9 seed games this week.

Due to only having 4 districts of 9 teams

Brilliant!
Yeah I see how it's worded now basically putting everything under the next week heading since you can't really do sub headings that well.

You’re out of your mind if you think the football advisory board has anything to do with district selections. That’s MSHSAA Executive Staff only.

The rearrangement of classes came from ALL the coaches association members. They took those recommendations to area meetings last January. They considered several solutions and this is the one that received the most support. Yes, there’s some unhappy schools about being the smallest in class 2,3,4,5, and 6. Always part of it. Unavoidable.

The four districts is a MSHSAA By-law. If there are less than 40 schools, it’s 4 districts. Now…I have no earthly idea WHY district 1 and 2 are split the way they are. That I agree is pure nonsense.

I’d be all for 40 in class 1 and class 6. I think that’s the better route.

If they don't have anything to do with districts..what exactly are they doing? Also, one of the executives is also from one of the schools that has a coach on the advisory board.

Going under 40 in any class is borderline idiocy if for no other reason than the district set up.
If nothing else, imagine the learning time that will be missed by leaving at 10Am or so on a Friday morning.
Some may not care but I know a few in Jeff City that absolutely do.

Be careful talking about the powers that be in this mess. I got a personal email from them.

I have a really good friend that I trust who has been on the advisory board in the past. He says they were never involved in the division of districts or anything with that. They saw that when the rest of us did.

290 miles on highway 60 each way, a week from Friday, when the deer are stupid, I'm getting a rental car.

Then change the by-laws to eliminate that dumb rule. Anymore than 8 teams in a district is absurd and everyone knows it. Same thing with not allowing teams to play on Thursday night last year to avoid the monsoon that hit the state.

Thank you.

I remember the days when Hwy 60 wasn't 4 lanes! You could easily add another hour going across the southern part of the state.

Is MSHSAA paying for charters?
