New era in Webb City football starts now.

Some people were whispering behind the scenes that maybe the party was over but in reality it was just that the class of 1999 was kind of a turd in terms of athletes aside from a couple standouts.
So you are saying that having the right Jimmies and Joes matters to winning?
The Only thing I have every heard from the Webbies is that they take turds and turn them into winners.

His dad graduated from CJ. I am surprised if that is true. The freshman last year was much better. I doubt this last more than a game or 2.

I was really looking forward to seeing him destroy people....and the matchup with the 6'8 tackle from Nixa. Oh well :(
He left because he was expected to be at team activities and not be at D1 camps instead. He was a self centered bully and would have been a distraction to the team although he will probably be a good player with his pedigree. Playing in an Oklahoma school may or may not help him out but I’m sure he will be the big dog on campus.

I talked to someone from Seneca and he said the new Webb coach usually starts upperclassmen over younger players even if the younger players are better.

Every upperclassman should be able to prove they cant handle the situation before being replaced. Most happen in practice but sometimes it takes a game or two to see the flaws. Usually why webb was the best during playoff time. Playoff webb isnt week one webb. Last year webb just had a dozen starters injured at playoff time. Cant recover from that.

So did the family just up and move or is it like what some people do around here where they live in Webb City but only on paper? Is this just a strategy to better position this kid to get looks from D1/NFL? Thinking Webb City isn't big time enough? Or it's a rebuke of the new coaching? Bixby or any of those large Tulsa area schools is certainly a whole different ballgame so strategically if they think football is this kids future I guess it makes sense. Looks like he is not the only high profile transfer going to that program either.

That is a HUGE step up. Talk about a whole new level.
As one who has followed Metro Tulsa HSFB for decades now HOLY COW yes that is a huge step up. I have Bixby in my regional top 5 again this year. The program has literally surpassed Jenks and Union who have ruled not just that Metro but the entire state for as long as I can remember.

Every single large and medium enrollment school in and around Tulsa is exceptional. Broken Arrow is middling most years yet they pushed Arkansas 7A finalist Bentonville to the max to open last season.

WOW how exciting for that kid is all I can say in summation.

As you likely already know check out those Metro Tulsa facilities/stadiums. How exciting for that kid!

Thats the area I grew up in. At that time Bixby was a small up and comer. But over the past years you have seen the Giant rising... and yes, they have passed Owasso, Jenks, and Union. Speaking of Broken Arrow, they should be three different high schools but refuse to do so.

Oh yeah I know, I've seen a few of them they are unreal.

I just always wonder about the logistics of these kind of deals. Did the whole family actually move out of state to get into a public school for football? Or is one parent temporarily living there with the one kid in an apartment? Never having any exceptional athletes in my family or social circle it's interesting to me and hard to wrap my head around such a thing.

A friend of mine is from BA and he was telling me he had 1,000 kids in his graduating class and that was a long time ago so I'm sure it's even larger now. It's a mind bogglingly huge school.

One set lives in bixby while the other set lives in webb. Perfectly legal as one parent got a job in tulsa to be able to reside there. Did have to give up the city council position but thats not a big deal. If you have the ability to give your kids that chance....why not. Wonder how it would go if webb ends up getting back to state this year. From prep and practice.....you wont recognize this years webb O and D. Just saying....a lot a changing coming round and cant wait to see it on the field.

Lucky you! Per capita I would rate Tulsa right up there with cities like Cincinnati as per capita best HSFB in the Nation.

Another note Owasso pulled off the shocker of the year in that track meet vs. Union in the 6A-1 semis. I think that is still on youtube for anyone interested in seeing it.

His mom and sister are staying here, he and his dad got a place there.

Are they switching to a spread offense team?

Are all the Webbies going to have to take veer out of thier names and put in pistol?

I support this
This is a joke I assume? We were told they hired this guy instead of doing a wide search, where they certainly could have hired a bigger name, because he was the only one who knew the current offense well enough to keep it going.

I assume as well. Sure they could have hired a guy with a big resume like what Nixa did. But that person would want to come in and run whatever he is familiar with and has had success with. At most schools that is fine. I'm actually inclined to think that could be done at Webb City too. But there may be a few clunky years of adjustment and there is the risk that once it's broke it's broke and even if it works then your system changes with every coach and you're not really different than any other 'good' program. Right now their system isn't broke so the best bet is someone competent in that system.

I do wonder if and at what point baseball interest will affect football. I still hear about people moving there, seems like every other week. More and more of them have baseball kids with little or no interest in football.

Baseball may actually be the new era at Webb City.

Hearing all the good players moving to Joplin and Nixa. The Cardinal Gravy train ending.

QB will be a concern for WC this year, as the SR is a sub par athlete with a sub par arm compared to Webb's typical standards. The good news is they have 2 SR running backs that should be very salty with a good OL. They may not need the QB to do much, which would be good for them. I've heard the little freshman QB from last year will run some wildcat packages, but I guess time will tell. Webb Should have a chance to win every game on their schedule maybe other than Joplin and Nixa. I'll go with 7-2 or 6-3 for the Cards this year.

I think Webb will be in that range. The main district opponent will be Republic instead of Carthage.

Webb opens at Nixa then plays Joplin the week before the Sep 22 Nixa at Joplin showdown. Interesting times down that way.

Will the Joplin streak end?

Joplin over Webb City 24-8 in 2022
Joplin over Webb City 41-40 in 2021
Joplin over Webb City 41-40 in 2020
Joplin over Webb City 35-28 in 2019

Back when Trump was President, and Drake had the #1 song...since Webb beat Joplin.

I saw some folks mentioning Republic will they move to the expanded Class 6?

Not this year unless their enrollment explodes this year beyond anything predicted.
They are now growing faster than Nixa and Ozark, they might still be a few years away. But wow have they grown every time you drive thru there a new business is being built. They are adding a lazy river to thier already huge water park and other great amenities, Really growing into a nice place to live or move too.
