I understand the February NSD has been watered down anymore due to the early signing day plus more and more student-athletes making verbal commitments on social media, but I was very surprised to log on here today and not find one post with updates on football signings.

Go ahead and post them if you got them or copy and paste from whichever college you follow. I always enjoy reading where student-athletes are going to compete at the next level and congratulations to all of those who have earned the opportunity to compete at the next level.

I guess you missed the one on William Jewell

I saw a Facebook post with 22 students from lees summit west gym getting scholarships. I assume from various sports. Looked like four going football at Northwest.

West Plains to Cedar Falls, a little temperature change, at least there's the UNI dome and shagnastys

I’ve driven by the UNI Dome(headed to see an old teammate living in Minnesota) but never been inside.
Got to see the Golden Gophers stadium on that trip though.

WP has 1 player from each of the last 3 classes go D1. Don’t know if that’s ever happened before at ole WP

2024- Briggs Hughston TE/WR Northern Iowa
2023- Heston Miller DB Missouri State
2022- Connor Lair RB/LB Missouri State

May not seem like that big of a deal to the “Missouri HSFB Bluebloods” but is definitely a cool thing to see.

Ope, make it 4.

2023- Watson Hafer TE/WR Missouri State

Dang, West Plains has really underachieved the last few years. To have this much D-1 talent and not do more with it is a travesty. Especially when they are in the top end enrollment wise in a weaker than normal class 4.

2022 Class 4 Semifinalist
2021 Class 4 Quarterfinalist - lost to state runner-up by 9
2020 Class 4 Quarterfinalist- lost to State Champs by 6

I sure wish they’d underachieve more often.

Don't Forget 2023 - 7-5, 5th place in the OC. Knocked out by Mcdonald Co?

And Kearney had a 7 year playoff drought before going the distance and winning it all this year.
So I think WP can have a bad year. First time they’ve won less than 8 games since 2016. First time they’ve won less than 9 since 2017.
Hate on WP all you want, they’re living rent free in your head even when they have an off year.

Haha. Just reminding you that the world doesn't revolve around your crappy little town. Now, go take off your Letterman Jacket, The high school girls are not impressed.

Not an alumnus of WP, and don’t live there 🤣🤣🤣

CraigHull asked for college signings of teams this year. I make an observation that WP has had 4 D1 players in 3 years and you just have to find some way to tear them down.

Pat yourself on the head and curl back up on the couch with your ramen noodles and your pall malls

Well it is just 7 miles.
I don’t know the particulars of that situation but their have been other fleetwoods in the past at Cabool so I’m guessing either a split household or someone works at the school.

There was a Houston player from Cabool on a split household situation years back

It's crazy to me that Spencer Ward is only going d2.
It’s the Wild West out there now since 2020. All the rules have changed. D1s are skittish and have rolled back some on high schoolers. Yeah I’m still surprised with some of the offers that are being given to some players that in my estimation shouldn’t be garnering such attention. There’s a lot of collective groupthink that is not based on facts involved in this process.

Ty Williams from Grain Valley had one of the most monster seasons I can remember at the C5/C6 level. He was big, strong, fast and tough as nails and ended up at Washburn. It's crazy!
How is this affecting D2,D3 and NAIA? Are they turning over their teams after 1-2 years or do those high school recruits end up staying put?

From the numbers, it looks like the destination of successful D2 transfers is 34% to D1, 61% to D2 and 5% to D3.
I don't think there is turnover that is super impactful to a D2 program, although from 2021 to 2022 the D2 portal transfers increased by 33% and increased again in 2023. But D2s that have guys that probably should have been D1 to begin with will likely lose them as more scholarships (COVID holdovers rolling out) and NIL money opens up more opportunity. Super-star D2 All-Americans are a bit at risk, because NIL will come calling for them, especially if they are underclassmen. You might lose a star player here and there as a D2 program every year.

In D1/D2 14-17% of players now entering the portal every year... Fairly disruptive. Bad news for the players, 70% aren't finding a landing spot.
