Uttered in one of the two times Grace burned them for a 40+ yard TD.
Class 5 gets stung if Oak Park, as it appears will happen, moves up to 6.
Grain Valley, who I really wish K would have kept on the slate, will be KC metro's top C5 given Oak Park is very likely moving up but Fort is a top program and has a very, very good RB coming back. I would like someone who knows to give us a way too early Platte County Pirates preview...............
Would love to dig in more on Platte County.
They lose a good group of quality college players.
Bradley, D1 to Tenn. Salzman to Arkansas State, Walls to Washburn, Wolfe to Pitt St. All super fast guys.
They also lose all-district players: Garrett Smith-Dean 5'10" 160 D-BACK, Andy McClure 6'2" 190 D-BACK,

Looks like a lean year athletically for them...but they did have a lot of younger players getting yards last season, and you know the coaching is good.
The fastest kid in the school, freshman Jackson Goodale, plays soccer.
They have two all-district players returning..

QB situation?
Carthage just doesn't have any offensive stars like they've had the last 10 years. There are several kids coming in who had brothers and cousins on the state title team but they'll be a young team for sure. I think only about 2 seniors and 2 juniors will have real game experience.

Key players on DL and OL coming back. Starting WRs, RBs and QB all back. Losing DBs and Safety...but replacing with all-state sprinter speed. Losing the offensive player of the year Grace in the TE/FB. Losing D1 lineman. Losing safety - track NE commit, Noland.

Other notables…Grant Noland (All-State sprinter, 11 ypc but plays D) Brock Colhour (3 x all-state sprinter on relays) Tristan Williams (#2 RB for much of 2022) Avg. 4.8 ypc. Dad was a star RB for Maryland and made Detroit Lions roster. Williams was seriously injured last Summer, so you were seeing a diminished Williams last Fall. That will not be the case this year. The line will be formidable-and well experienced, as many of them started last year and played the year before.
This year you will see the combination of two of the best football classes to ever come through Kearney from Jimmy and Joe standpoint. Just on this list alone, there are colleges already interested in at least 10 or more of them.

It all looks great agree. Remember most of the players you have listed (attended most K games since 2011 last year) and expect them to have a very, very, very formidable offense. Good returnees other side of the ball up front shall see. Still curious about the D especially when the really big games come calling.
Kearney lost three D1 athletes from last year. TE to Oregon, OL to Indiana St, and Safety to Nebraska track.
BUT they return =8 on Offense that scored 44/game. All-State WR that is All-State in baseball too, the QB, Other 6-5 WR getting FCS and D2 Looks. The QB getting FCS and D2 looks. Center, visiting Ivy League D1s. Both RBs are back. Lead RB runs a 4.5. The Defense has 6 back from last year, three of them in the backfield returning all-state tricksters. One will be D1 in track. All three of the front getting college visits.
Tracksters. That MIGHT also be a refence to the claim made that Kearney are cheaters?

Looking as the season now opens in single digit days you are spot on the top end of 4 and 6. 5 is anyone's guess.

If Eureka stays in Class 5 (if they decline by over 30 kids) then they become the big favorites for state.
That class is wide, wide open. Only area team I feel certain will be in Class 5 and contend is Grain Valley. Gotta see what Fort rolls out, too. Those two hook up one week from tomorrow yet again!
I think Fort Osage will struggle at first, but be much better by Week 9 assuming they don't have a few too many key injuries. Grain Valley should dominate in the regular season, but they have a knack for not winning the big games in the playoffs.
HC Allie took Ray South to one of the most memorable title games in MO history in 2008 so he has been there. Do see your point, though, as many of us have pointed out the Quarters seem to be a roadblock since he arrived at GV. Fort will develop a deadly run game with an outstanding back one of the best in the KC Metro. Very nice interview with him on 810varsity.com BTW.
I was at the semifinal game at the Fort... Fort's stud RB suffered a concussion before halftime and was held out for the rest of the game. I believe that the final score was 6-3... a defensive struggle. I also remember totally freezing my ass off that afternoon !
I think it'll be a typical Fort team that will be playing their best ball at the end of the season. Starting with GV and Kearney back to back is a brutal way to start the season.
Peppers just going to be a junior.....I've been watching Fort foootball since 1976 ....I think he'll be the best RB to wear a Fort uni by the time he graduates.
The problem is they risk being one deminsional early in the season as they break in a new qb and receivers. I'm confident Coach Bult will have them playing to their full potentional by districts.
Don't sleep on junior linebacker Anthony Thompson. (Skylars little brother). All-state as a soph last season and he's a human projectile.

I was at the Webb-Kearney semi did the same, Homey, but the Smith-Cotton game the week before was MUCH WORSE. Back then the visiting fans had to cross the track and exit through the home side and my God some of those poor north facing folks! Frostbite city! If/when we see PlayerTwo again he will remember that day all too well!
The wind was brutal that day. Maybe as cold as I've been at a HS event.
Oak Park will probably end up in Class 6 due to the addition of 10 extra teams. They would have to drop their enrollment quite a bit to stay in Class 5. I also question their strength of schedule last year despite returning almost everybody.
Not winning in C6 without a good passing game, either. What I saw of OP last year was all about the top notch RB. Given how MSHSAA rates teams they could get a higher seed but C6 is beyond top heavy again this year (that LSN, LN, CBC triangle in particular).
Eureka (90% sure in Class 6), Francis Howell, Joplin, Rockhurst, Rock Bridge, and SLUH as well.
Yeah, if they are in c6 it’s a totally different scenario.
Peppers and Thompson are studs. I hope their playcalling is more creative. I'd bring in an extra blocker and use a tight end this year with Peppers being the centerpiece. If he gets past the line he is extremely allusive. Brantsteitter is a huge loss for any defensive line. Took up so much attention from offensive lines. I expect him to be at a Power 5 after his JUCO stint.
You'd think Fort could recruit some of the talent away from BS, GV, WC or Truman but I never hear of that. If OP gets bumped C5 will be down in KC. I saw GVs All District linebacker already tore his meniscus.
