My Way Too Early Missouri Football Rankings (Classes 4-6)

No doubt. That "league of death" seems to be getting deeper by the year.
The league has gotten so much better it's not even funny ..first several years Webb would turbo most if not all of them . Everyone was playing for second . Last few years Webb has more state championships than coc championships. I can't remember the last time Webb won the coc ? It's been a long time . I don't think webb has gone downhill ...I just think the league has improved a lot and there isn't a talent gap anymore. The Springfield half should continue to improve that area is growing so fast . Nixa is going to be a perennial powerhouse, Republic I think is about there . Ozark just needs a spark to trigger that sleeping giant . Joplin has finally harnessed their talent pool . Carthage has been good to great for 2 decades and keeps improving with time .....even the " bad teams" like neosho have spent a ton of money on new stadium, new indoor practice facilities etc and they are improving . Branson and Willard has no excuse for being as bad as they are . I don't understand that . Cj has a indoor facility as well . I actually think webb is in the minority of not having an indoor facility

Not winning in C6 without a good passing game, either. What I saw of OP last year was all about the top notch RB. Given how MSHSAA rates teams they could get a higher seed but C6 is beyond top heavy again this year (that LSN, LN, CBC triangle in particular).
OP will have a good record going into the playoffs because of their putrid schedule, regardless of what class they end up in. But if they are in 6, and they will be, I don’t foresee district going well for them. I’d love to be wrong though.

They will be the "unknown" in a C6 KC district.

Peppers and Thompson are studs. I hope their playcalling is more creative. I'd bring in an extra blocker and use a tight end this year with Peppers being the centerpiece. If he gets past the line he is extremely allusive. Brantsteitter is a huge loss for any defensive line. Took up so much attention from offensive lines. I expect him to be at a Power 5 after his JUCO stint.
You'd think Fort could recruit some of the talent away from BS, GV, WC or Truman but I never hear of that. If OP gets bumped C5 will be down in KC. I saw GVs All District linebacker already tore his meniscus.
Agree on Bransteitter being a P5 prospect.

From comments I’ve read from Bult I think they will be using Peppers in the slot a lot and using at times a backfield of Sullivan and the freshman that played when Peppers was injured last season. They do have some talent back on the o-line so hoping that will help the running game.

Eureka (90% sure in Class 6), Francis Howell, Joplin, Rockhurst, Rock Bridge, and SLUH as well.

Does Webb now have two turfed practice fields?

I think there are 8 class 4 teams in SW Missouri now. I would have no problem if they formed a league. It would make a lot of sense for CJ to not have to play up every single week and it would make sense for the class 4 schools in the Big 8 to not play down.

Who all are you thinking about? I can come up with CJ, Nevada, MC, Monett, Bolivar, Hillcrest? Who am I missing?

These are numbers from DECEMBER. No one declares enrollment until March, but these are as close as you'll find. DESE NEVER updates final building enrollment numbers. Too tough I guess.

I have 307 teams playing 11-man football DISTRICTS (no Linn, no East KC)
Class 6 - 42 (I have same 42 as he does using December numbers)
Class 5 - 57 (I have same 57)
Class 4 - 57
Class 3 - 57
Class 2 - 58
Class 1 - 36 Per the December numbers the cut is 178 (Sarcoxie or Adrian is going to Class 2, per December numbers)
Class 1 teams (I didn't bother putting co-op if it didn't impact class):
O'Fallon Christian
St. Vincent
SARCOXIE HIGH or ADRIAN HIGH
LOUISIANA HIGH
THAYER SR. HIGH
WINDSOR HIGH
RUSSELLVILLE HIGH
PORTAGEVILLE HIGH

Also, for Class 5 I have McCluer North and Holt joining Class 5 and have removed KC East (no district icon listed on their schedule...not sure what's happening there) and I have St. Mary's in Class 4 despite a two-class jump. Apparently their enrollment decreased significantly so I think they could be Class 2 raw number and bump to Class 4.

I wonder how many Calhoun kids Windsor enrolled (and will that even impact the numbers for this year)?

Agree 100% with that assessment. Last year the COC was very good and I think most teams will be similar if not better than last with the exeption of Carthage. Not saying they will be bad, but there is no way they will be as good as last year. It will be a tough year for a rebuild.

It's been 5 years since WC won the COC (2018) but they did not win state that year.
  • 2019 Joplin won COC, WC won state in C4.
  • 2020 No one agrees who if anyone won the COC - Carthage was undefeated but didn't play WC. WC had lost to Joplin who lost to Carthage.
  • 2021 Carthage won COC but WC won C5 state.
  • 2022 Nixa and Carthage tied 8-1.
I think WC has again actually has a better shot at winning state than the COC outright.

Looking at the statewide numbers, six COC schools are in the top 54 in size statewide and Webb isn't one of those. Really hard for a class 4 school to compete.

East is cooping with Northeast from what I understand. Southeast is cooping with Central. Lincoln Prep is only solo left in the disintegrating IL.

On that note advise everyone in KC in particular watch KIPP KC Legacy the 3 year old charter school moving to 11-man FB next Friday at Madison IL.

By these numbers, West Plains would be the smallest public school in Class 5. Wow.

NKCSD found a way to keep Staley C5 for years, you'd wonder if they found a way to do that for Oak Park knowing that change was possibly out there for this year. I'd like to see them stay in C5 as I think they have a very good chance this year. Crazy to think in C6 that the biggest school has 400+ more potential players to choose from than the smallest C6.

I thought we cured this back in 2002 but MSHSAA apparently disagrees.
