Interesting, the Maxpreps rankings have five of the top 10(instead of just three) in Class 6 from KC, with Rockhust at #11. Also in Class 4, CJ is at #4, PW North at #2.

As much as a Webbie as I am how could anyone rank us in the top 10???

Hope by the end of the year they are there but that's just ignorant

10. Webb City, 0-2, 16, 3
That is strictly the result of previous success and tradition. No other team could start 0-2 (neither of which were close) and still land in the top 10.

That is how rankings go. Teams with notoriety and program history are favored until soundly proven otherwise. Carthage in my opinion probably shouldn’t be on the “almost” list, but started out there because of last year’s team. They are still are because they beat a ranked C4 team – even though that ranked team shouldn’t have been ranked either.

The whole rankings thing is kind of silly. Guessing who is best among teams that largely have no common opponents.

I'll go ahead and say it right now, IF and I mean IF, West Plains beats Glendale(who is now ranked 9th in Class 5, West Plains will not be put back into the top 10, but I'd be willing to be that if Webb beats Republic this Friday, they will stay at number 10 or maybe even move up a spot, despite a 1-2 record.

Park Hill started high from last year's result. But they lost their Superstar QB and most of their starters. From Class 5 Champs by a mile to 0-2. That's high school football.

I'd trust Maxpreps/Calpreps way more than the Media Rankings after week four. Last year the Media ranking had Westminster ranked #2 over Kearney. That made some people believe, but the reality of how they had performed shows up on the Calpreps #s. Calpreps was pretty accurate in ranking Kearney much higher than Westminster, and the score prediction was off by a point:

Kearney (MO) 35 Westminster Christian (St. Louis, MO) 16 [projection: Kearney (MO) 35-17]

Maxpreps is about as reliable on sports reporting as Twitter is on reporting the actual news.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't calpreps have something like an 80% accuracy rate with their predictor after week 4?

It is reasonably reliable but out of curiosity I just ran Webb City-Carthage and it has Webb City winning 21-20 just days after the actual game was played.
Also has Fort Osage over Truman 27-22.

How is Webb City still ranked at 0-2 and West Plains not ranked at 1-1?

When computers are involved, numbers matter.

Last year Rockhurst had (6) losses...
All of whom were to quality opponents.

01) Webb City
02) Bentonville Ark
03) Springdale Ark
04) Blue Springs South
05) Jefferson City
06) Ray-Pec

With losses to opponents like those..
Strength of Schedule is huge.

8-man Rankings (http://www.mo8mancoaches.com/story.php?ID=155)

1.Stanberry (2-0)
2.North Andrew (2-0)
3.South Holt/Nodaway-Holt (2-0)
4.Rock Port (2-0)
5.St Joseph Christian (1-1)
6.Worth County (1-1)
7.Mound City (2-0)
8.King City (1-1)
9.Southwest Livingston (1-1)
10.Greenfield (2-0)

The top 7 are the usual suspects, with the exception of maybe South Holt, but it definitely helped both of those schools football-wise when they went the co-op route.
I spent quite a bit of my schooling up in that area and grew up competing against most of those schools in basketball and baseball(there were no mighty mite programs in place in the area at the time, idk if there even are now) I played in the GRC in high school so only played against two of those teams before they went 8 man.
