Missouri Class 6 Preview (Calpreps)

We return a few olineman and a QB/WR combo that’s deadly. Most of your defense graduates. That 2ndary is a liability. Expecting us to air it out 45 times

“When you start throwing the ball in the air, only three things can happen—and two of them are bad.” Woody Hayes, Ohio State Just FYI, Park Hill got a couple TDs on Kearney late in the game this past year, only when the starting safety wasn't in the game.

Talked with my brother in law recently in Nixa - everyone in town believes THIS is the year Nixa wins it all.

The safety who was out of the game will be in North Dakota when this game is played. One more year under our belt and I’d imagine we score 60 this year. Last I checked Grant NoLand in NKC for your candy as is gonna be walking through that door. Price of real estate in beutiful NKC just went up!

Nope. Noland wasn't the safety that was out. And you might score 60 in basketball, but in football, nope. Last I checked they are not playing 7 on 7 touch football next season--its still tackle. You only score more than 14 if the backups come in, like last season.

Of the regular season teams with a chance to beat K this season, I would say Park Hill is the leading candidate. Turbo? :D Uh no.
A decent game MAYBE. Grain Valley, because of HC and overall program, maybe. The others I don't see being close at all this regular season. Still looking for another "signature" C4 public that will be able to challenge them in November/early December in STJ.

You homers crack me up. This is an unproven karney team about to get sht kicked into next week. I told ya all, PH, fort O and GV might give them a go here… SV moron HC speers is the only perennial ex power I see K smashing.

11 All Conference Players coming back. Starting QB, RB, entire D line. What’s unproven? The new middle linebacker that had two pick 6s last season? Bahaha.

That's a pretty mean assessment of a head coach there. No offense, but I guess it takes one to know one though?

I have a friend who lives in Nixa, met up with him when they were at Carthage last year and he said basically the same thing. His comment at the time was "As good as we are now I think we may be better next year. And pretty good the next year. But after that it might be back to reality".

Closest reg season games last year were beating Webb by 34 and Carthage by 20, I doubt anyone does much better this year. I don't see any reason to believe any of the coc west will be significantly better other than Webb City but that doesn't necessarily mean they will be great, just that they won't lose 7 games.

Nixas first 4 games vs COC west will be a good warm up test for Nixa but the remainder of their schedule isn't going to help them much.

Maybe it'll help them to stay healthy if they only have to play half games.

Nixa will have their way with Jasper/Newton County teams this year. Webb City will be DOWN this year (they could lose another 7 games this year) and Carthage will be lucky to reach .500. Joplin will be putrid. Not a good year for Southwest Missouri. The COC road definitely goes through Springfield metro.

Webb will be significantly better than last year if they can keep everyone healthy. They will have their best backfield in many years

I agree Nixa will have their way with anyone in SWMO but I just don't see WC losing 7 games again as much as I know some people want that. I think they have a legit chance to win the coc west, only losing to Nixa in the east. I see worst case for them 6-3 regular season and rack up a few more after that provided they get Carthage and not Republic in district. As others have said, the quality and quantity of talent over the next few years is remarkable. Much of this is the result of what I call the "gold rush" era of move-ins that occurred around the early 2010s.

Putrid is a stretch. I think Carthage and Joplin will be pretty good but they won't have much room for error to keep their record above water with at least one guaranteed loss on the schedule and some very hungry teams. I see them either 6-3 or 5-4.

Nixa will very likely be the C6 preseason #1 but will that schedule (not a knock on the rest of the COC but compliment to what KC-STL is bringing to the 2025 table - especially in this metro) prep them to win it all?

Nixa will be fortunate to get past Webb , losing Dylan Rebura is going to slow their offense down he was a game changer, and I think their top 3 receivers were lost to graduation

21 years since a non KC/StL Class 6 team won state. And Nixa will not make it.

This weird end of May weather already has me in HSFB research mode! Got Week 1 NWCMO Pick Em all but done looks like the vast majority of schedules are simply flipping sites. CBC going way up in the Mountains to play Nacoochee HS in Rabun Gap GA is one of the more interesting interstaters this year.

Thayer heading down in the hills a few miles to play Arkansas 4A power Highland is interesting as is Boonville heading up to Quincy IL Week 1 but my out of region is about 99 percent gonna be the annual battle of Callaway County.

Also already lining up a "tentative" attendance schedule looks like I may have them all filled if teams I think will contend do:

1 - Lee's Summit at Liberty
2 - Liberty at Liberty North
3 - Smithville at Kearney
4 - Kearney at Park Hill
5 - Kirkwood at Eureka (Raw and maniac STL trip)
6 - Grain Valley at Kearney
7 - Liberty at Blue Springs South
8 - Blue Springs South at Blue Springs
9 - Savannah at St. Pius X

Platte County will have to wait until potentially deeeep in the C5 playoffs. Will absolutely attend every title game in St. Joe this December!

Who knows. Last year they dominated the COC, appeared to be a once in a generation collection of talent all at the same school at the same time. They could compete with the top of C6, but barely got into the final game and then came up short. But they were competitive unlike most C6 schools outside the big metros. The question is how much of them coming up short is due to lack of experience or do these other urban C6 just have access to this type of talent on the regular instead of once in a generation? How much does the regular schedule matter? COC isn't the top of the top but it's not like they are playing nobodies either.

Interesting take. I actually kind of thought the same thing, Nixa is losing some major play makers. But my guy in Nixa is certain this season will be better than last. If I recall the explanation was yeah they lose some talent but they will be so powerful up front that it will make everyone else's job easy even if they don't have quite some of the same skill. Overall they will be ahead, all things considered. Or so he says. It would be interesting to be siting next to him if WC did indeed get them as you suggest.

Blinded by the Light thinks class 6 started 5 years ago.

I "think" early as it is KC in particular will be up from last season. Lots of returning talent especially at the QB position. The main players here, in again my early opinion, will be Blue Springs South, Lee's Summit and Liberty with a host of others who could jump up on any given night and perhaps 1-2 of these will rise to the top rung of this murderous ladder: Blue Springs, Liberty North, Lee's Summit North, Park Hill and Rockhurst. The huge question here is whether they will all beat each other to death..............

Agree the COC isn't a bunch of nobodies just not the very large enrollment, deep programs we find in the two major Metros.
