Well, after 7-8 games the computer rankings get pretty tight in accuracy.

If MoKan is the media source ranking teams I would suggest to look elsewhere. They do a poor job of coverage and look merely on just the W column over the margins of victory or loss. For example, they still Rank Liberty in the Top 25 in the state of MO while their post also includes a photograph of a player from a team which hasn't been ranked all season.

CalPreps seems to being doing some really accurate computer rankings in all classes. I'm more inclined to align there over media in some regions will have a fixed bias towards a team.

If the Class 4 District 7 winner is not the #1 seed would Kearney hit the road for the quarterfinal? If so this is an even year so the ole alma mater would then host Lutheran North (who will go on the road in the quarters no matter what happens in District 4)?

Class 4. Media doesn't have Festus in the top 10? In the top 10? 6-1 with wins over Hillsboro, NOrth County. Bahaha
Maxpreps has them at #4. And in no way would Kirksville ever beat Smithville. Bahah NO.
Was discussing Festus briefly last Friday night over in the Lou they could actually make it to Columbia.

@thetophat2021 I hope we get to see a potential Carthage-Platte County game, that would be an absolute slugfest.
AGREE! Another right before that is if Platte County hosts St. Pius X. My hope will, if this all verifies, be the C6 game is Friday night and C5 Saturday afternoon in Platte City. WOW.

OK the time has arrived for the ole annual State Title guesses:

C6 - Lee's Summit North over Blue Springs South
C5 - Cardinal Ritter over Platte County
C4 - Kearney over Festus
C3 - Seneca over Blair Oaks
C2 - Valle Catholic over Fair Grove
C1 - Perryville St. Vincent over Tipton
8M - Worth County over Archie (upset special)

I'd say of all of those, you gotta be most excited about the Seneca vs. Blair Oaks matchup (well maybe not you, top, because of Kearney) because they have been far and away better than everyone else in their class and have no commons I don't believe

A Valle Catholic vs Fair Grove game would be a semi final match up, if both teams are able to get that far.

OK OK OK OK gonna let the ole cat out of the bag: Yes I am a Kearney grad and tend to be partisan at the games in particular BUT am a whole lot more neutral than pretty much everyone I know there. I love going to other games/towns (see last Friday night) and look forward to the best matchups like last year's Class 2 final which beyond verified.

In saying all that I agree C3 this year looks absolutely TITANIC. If it happens is easily the best matchup of Championship weekend in CoMo.

hosting is as follows for qtrs
1. Team who hosted least amount of district games. If the same then go to 2
2. Team that did not host the district championship if both did/didn't go to 3
3. Odd year top bracket/ even year bottom of bracket.

I've gotta watch a Carthage game tonight, results don't indicate they are that physical to 1. Play with the likes of PC and 2. Be so adamant that they will beat GV.

I know I picked them to win D7 but in my book it wasn't a heavy favorite no chance game.

Time for homework

If you’re going to watch their film, I’d suggest the Nixa game and the Republic game. Nixa has definitely been their worst game so far, Republic has been their best game against a team with a pulse.

One major thing Calpreps/Maxpreps doesn't account for is injuries and performances with major injuries. Last year Kearney was missing two current D1 commits and their D2 commit QB the first month of the season. When they all came back it was lights out.

I don't know. The first half of the Willard game was absolute dogsh**. Surely that has to be their worst one even though final score looks OK. Looked like they went up there knowing they would win but forgetting the game still had to be played.

I didn't think Carthage was terrible in the Nixa game, Nixa just has a (hopefully) once in a generation group of talent right now combined with a very competent HC.

They scored 3 times, fumbled, and turned it over on downs in the first half against Willard. It could’ve been better, but I wouldn’t say it was dog 💩. They stopped themselves more than Willard stopped them.

Kearney is likely to head into the District 8 final with the Offense averaging 39 PPG (7th highest since 2003)
Defense is giving up 5.1 PPG (#1 All-time average for K.) A chance for history.
2008 5.9
2003 6.4
2009 6.7
2010 7.8
2015 9.7

This is why (not being a homer) I am leaning more and more toward them repeating this December. Like always it depends on staying relatively healthy but my goodness we have never seen a D Line-LB combo like this. We all know you are the track guy that is going to really pay off in these playoffs, too.

Other side have not really liked what I've seen from Lutheran North the past two Saturdays. They have very little depth cannot absorb injuries I keep seeing them incur especially on D.

Since you are only including points that were given up by the varsity (since they have 7.3 right now), did you also do that for the other years? The 1989 team entered Districts with a 3.3 average. Finished their season with a 7.9 average.

Old PE coach Skillman's best year. Remember those late 80s like yesterday. Best regular season game was a 14-0 win over highly regarded Ray-Pec at the old elementary school field. Your stats are likely spot on (don't have anything but mental notes from that far back). Funny part is everyone expected a similar physical grinder going down to Camdenton and it turned into the only shootout of that season (35-27 Kearney's first ever playoff win)!

In all honesty, when it comes to C3, Borgia is under the radar when it comes to being a title contender. If they continue to do well which I expect them to.

After Districts:
sectionals vs. Dexter / Park Hills Central (Borgia Favored)
Semifinals vs Seneca ( tough to call)
Championship vs Blair Oaks

Don't sleep on them

Got to take a little peek at Seneca a couple of weeks ago....................goodness don't know what even Blair may have for that team!

ehhhhh I mean I appreciate the enthusiasm and belief in borgia.......but the only team they've played with a pulse is father tolton and they only won by 10. Forsyth isn't even ranked (though they are close) and beat em by like 30. You can't always compare scores but you can't ignore them either in my experience. I'd say Seneca beats em by 30 if they meet. It would definitely make for a good story/game, but just don't see it happening.

They should enter the district championship game giving up 3.1 ppg (only including starters) for the D8 championship.

I'm closer to 1.5 little fella. If you gotta tell people how good kearney is, they must not be.

Well, you must think they are good. I've just posted the numbers.

No more comments on Classes 4-6. When you talk so much about things you don't know about, you must not know.
