What are we laughing at exactly?
Primarily the fact an undefeated Cassville only gained one spot in Class 3 after ending the nation’s longest win streak (but also the fact that Lamar lost their top spot in Class 2 after a last second field goal loss to a top 5 team in the Class above them...)

Haters gonna hate! ;)

I'm actually shocked they still lead in 1st place votes after a loss. Polls tend to be reactionary. The winning streak shouldn't factor in as the poll is about this year's teams. It's really no big deal.

I have to agree with you. If any loss can be considered a quality loss, those two are it.

In class one, Midway and Milan should be ahead of Westran and East Buch.
Midway definitely. Milan not so sure. The GRC seems a bit down overall this year (Polo, Maysville and Trenton are WAY down).

Never thought I'd see Carthage at #1.
Totally by attrition. Staley still hasn't lost to a Class 5 team and Vianney's only MO loss period was to CBC. You saw them lose to one of AR's top 7A teams plus they just played a legendary OH program on the road last week.

That being said I am happy for what is happening in Carthage the past couple of years and all but expect they will be back in the C5 semis.

Rankings are meaningless. Post-season play starts this week and teams are seeded in their districts by the points they’ve earned during the 1st 9 games. Who’s #1 will be determined on the field. Precisely the way it should be.

Oh yeah but it is kinda fun to look at. I know my predicted final games and winners don't parallel most of these rankings.

Noneed for anybody else in Class 3 to play. It's a lock Cardinal Ritter going play Trinity for title according STL podcast in another thread.

If computer rankings count for anything, Calpreps.com has the following rankings for C5:

Rank, Pwr. Rating, Team
1. 45.7 Jackson
2. 43.9 Staley
3. 39.7 Carthage
4. 39.2 Vianney
5. 37.7 Fox
6. 37.0 Raytown
7. 33.4 North KC
8. 30.8 Ft. Zumwalt No.
9. 29.3 Timberland
10. 27.3 Ft. Osage

Odd to think that the only undefeated team in C5 dropped one spot in the rankings while all of the top 3 teams lost games last week. However, I somewhat agree with FBisLife12 that rankings are meaningless, especially when the voters can't possibly see all those teams play and computer rankings are so much less arbitrary.

Lutheran North should be #1 in C2, no disrespect to Lamar & there is no shame in losing to Cassville. I will ask if there is another W on the schedule that turns heads? I understand teams must play the conference slate ahead of you, but do any of those teams have a winning record besides Cassville? I'm with the earlier poster, rankings mean squat, but don't see a big sin in moving Lamar to #2

You are the gift that just keeps coming. How lucky are we. Ugh.

Yep. You should be grateful that I even take the time to respond to you. All you have to do to earn credibility here is know what you’re talking about. Take notes. You’re free to not comment, if your bruised ego will allow it.

Does Jackson really not get much consideration in Class 5? They can really score. QB is real good. I guess we will see...

Agree to disagree. I see such a toss up in class two top three teams that you could place them in any order. No clear cut class two champion this year.

You’re right; Casville and Lamar aren’t that good (the play the same schedule after all)

Totally agree! Let’s just have Cardinal Ritter play Trinity this weekend for first place and second place, and the rest of Class 3 can just fight it out for third place! :D

Sarcasm aside, I predicted Trinity would win it all before the season started, but even I’m tired of hearing about them and Ritter all but being anointed already...

Maxpreps.com stats show Soph. QB Cael Welker has thrown 33 TD passes and leads C5 in passer rating (130.1), comp. pct. (.654), and yds. (2,359). His top receiver is an amazing YAC guy, so that helps a lot with the yards.
Now, some might think those passing stats mean Jackson is one-dimensional, but they rank 4th overall in C5 with 2252 yds. rushing. Fairly balanced offense, don't you think?

They play up, and even play class 4 schools. I think that justifies Lamar staying at one. The difference this year is? They played the weaker side of the big 8.

All sarcasm aside, who’d of thought the WEST would be the weaker half; not that it won’t change from year to year, but I thought for certain the West would be the stronger of the two.

LOL what the heck are you talking about? Cassville destroyed both Catholic and Reeds buy 35 points? Lamar would have done the same, how is that weaker? There is not a team on the east side that would have finished better than third in the west, so how does that make the west weaker?

Not every school uses MaxPreps, he does not lead comp. pct. or yards in Class 5.

Hell, even opponents’ records aren’t gospel when ranking teams. Lamar is still one of the Top 3 teams in Class 2 by any objective measure ... even though Cassville is the only team they played before Districts that has a winning record. Every game played before Districts starts in Missouri is a pre-season game. The only ones that matter are when Districts starts and it’s win or go home.

I am aware of that, 2RC, but he leads on MaxPreps.

So then, who leads C5 in comp. pct and yards? Your point also should make you wonder, if not every school uses MaxPreps then how do the AP writers have any way to compare teams that they've never even seen play, other than using Calpreps.com? One AP voter must have been looking at Calpreps.com because Jackson received 1 first place vote.
