Lamar @ Lutheran North

I could care less about D1 “offers.” I care more about which of these fellas go on to college and graduate with a degree. My son had a Lamar graduate on his D2 team who had better work ethic and academic accolades than a majority of the D1 athletes who transferred to D2 after a year. But hey, they got D1 “offers” so that is all that matters, right?

Just out of curiosity, how many of you keyboard athletes have played ANY level of college ball? How many of you have played D1 football?

That is how you value success of these kids? Any level of college sports is more than most people accomplish.
I played at Nebraska! Stef played at Cal-Poly and Mox played at Brown!

The initial challenge was this: "What's "real" is I dare you to name 3 Lamar players over the last 6 championships seasons with D1 offers."

Players listed were not that.
You just can't seem to even make an attempt to be correct...now can you. All of them are D1 and all were taken directly out of HS. Now eat your crow like a good boy.

My comment was because I got tired of hearing people bitching and gossiping and taking shots at Lutheran North, so I responded to a relatively benign question that I KNEW to be sarcasm with an intentionally smart-ass comment of my own.

How many games, rings, trophies or scholarships either team has/had won't guarantee anything on Saturday afternoon. Lamar is Lamar and I don't dispute that but, frankly, the respect and class the program has a reputation for isn't reflected by everyone in this forum, and that's fine.

I mentioned scholarships because it was low hanging troll-fruit, but what kid gets offered by what college isn't proof of being a superior person anymore than winning a bunch of state championships is. They're accomplishments and they're valid and people should be proud and whatnot, but any coach or player on that field this weekend that thinks anything matters other than who brings it the hardest because they want it the most, is going to be shocked.

Period.

I have a feeling this is going to be a good game.

Late to the party but better late than never. I've enjoyed this site over the years.
Thanks to some friends I've been attending Lamar games for the last ten years when I moved to Barton Co. on a career move. Love watching their unique offense but in my opinion it's their defense that has propelled them through the years. Going into this year I felt they would face the biggest challenges since the run started. They still have some great athletes but Lamar has had more players playing both ways this year than past years. Then add what's going on in St Louis................
Prior to all the injurys I thought Lamar's chances for seven straight were pretty good. The only possible road blocks were going to be either of the two private St. Louis schools. Nothing new there it's been beat to death here. Well here we are, it may only be the semi-final but the top two remaining programs are set to meet Saturday. If Lamar was at full strength I'd predict a Lamar victory on a hard fought one touchdown difference. As it is I believe Lutheran North is the favorite by two touchdowns. I think Lutheran North is a well coached & disciplined team that matches up very well with Lamar. It's a shame they had to follow TC lead down that shady road. I suppose LN felt pressured to follow suit if they wanted to hoist the Class 2 State Championship trophy. Nice life lesson.
One last thing, back in 2013 you never heard a thing about cheating/ loop holes prior to Lamar met LN in the semi's or for that matter the regular season. Cutting corners may get you a trophy but it does not build character and reflexs poorly on those responsible for developing the minds of these young men.
Anyway let's hope for a good game & best of luck to both teams.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!

I can do my own bragging, thanks...

I played a Cal-Poly, i dont think you can say what The Mox did at Brown "playing"

i on the other hand used my talents in football to get an education and get out while i could still walk. I was your typical lock down man corner, but i could set the edge and hit like a mack truck.

I knew D1 was the best i could do, there wasnt much need for a 5'10 white cornerback in the NFL. Thanks Coach Nickerson for the offer, even tho you blackballed me for a while.

Initially was clarifying the listing of our alums who play for Pitt St, Rolla, etc.

Keep jumping on this Lamar supporter. No problem...

It was not in reply to the Baileys, Beshore, etc.

I presume you expect us to know what you mean, rather than react to what you post! I'm going to try to bend a fork with my mind now as well. LOL

It's going to be a great game. It's unfortunate that you feel the way you do in describing Lutheran North as "shady", but it is what it is. Transferring schools is not illegal, unethical or shady. There are multiple reasons MSHSAA grants exceptions allowing immediate eligibility for kids without having to sit out a year. I happen to know the families of the kids on the team at Lutheran North well enough to be able to state factually what their circumstances were. Which is why I take the position that I do. You're entitled to your opinion and whatever you feel is fine. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I will ... no matter the final score.

I think Joe has been a bad influence on you buddy. From the rambling and grammatically incorrect nature of that post, you have been hitting the sauce pretty darn hard!

The transferring is shady if it’s for pure football purposes only. ALL of St. Louis is dangerous. There’s few areas that are safe, and most of those areas are rich people. Using “dangerous” as a reason to going to another school is quite ironic considering all of these schools are in the same area/town. It’s as obvious as day these kids had a opportunity because a coach wanted them, to use that loop hole and transfer to North to play football.

The reason people care, is when it comes to playing schools that only get what’s there to play for them, it creates a unfair playing field. It’s not right. Lutheran or Trinity can reload at any time they please. As long as both are a hip school to be at. Both coaches preached to these kids to come and play for them.

Yes at the end of the day the game must be played, and the game will end with one team winning. It’s not rigged in that sense at all. May the best team win. It will be a good game. I’m sure outside of your views towards this subject you are a great man. I hope you enjoy the game!

You don't know the families or why they transferred, but none of that matters. Some people can't see beyond the horizon, so they are convinced the Earth is flat. Doesn't matter. I don't respond to posts accusing Lutheran North of cheating because I expect to change your minds OR to change the World. I do it because I can and because I choose to comment. Believe what you want to. None of it has any bearing on the outcome of games or anything outside of comments on a message board. All of your comments about these families' decisions are based upon what you think you know from what someone you heard said or typed ... and that's fine too. Don't assume I'm a good man because of anything I've said or not said online. Your opinion of my value m and as little to me as mine does to you.
